The longest I've gone without playing is probably around 4-6 months. My save file in TS3 got all messed up and it crushed my soul. It was around the time TS4 came out but I wasn't buying it at the starting price without pools, ghosts, toddlers, and only two uneditable worlds. So I took a break for a bit. But I could stop for longer and be unbothered. I have other hobbies.

Real life means chemo or in the hospital. - the rest of my time I sim. I'd rather be simming than withstanding all this chemo. Simming is when i live. Real life rots. Simming makes me happy. I can do anything simming.

Never played Sims 1 & 2. But Sims 3 back in 2011-2013. Then started Sims 4 in 2014. I take a break around 2 to 3 weeks if I lost any ideas for CAS, Build & Livemode. However, since Island Living I've been playing it more frequently & recently preparing my households for ROM. Also, I just got free Sims 3 Starter Pack because I miss Bridgeport, Heartshape bed, Custom Patterns & Color Wheels. I made the mistake of giving away my old games.

if need be I could go without forever, but by choice?
since I got the sims 4 I think the longest I've gone without playing (by free will, not taking outside forces into account) maybe about 2 month, usually when I get a new game or I am getting caught up in skyrim again ^^

I enjoy playing when I can. These days, however, it is restricted to late nights once my three year old has gone to bed. He loves the game too. LOL.. Lovs to sit in my lap and watch, but as he's gotten into his toddler years he wants to try and do things. Occasionally I allow him to watch a household (or mine and just reload later) as he loves the ocean activities in Island Living so much. Since one of his favorite shows is Bubble Guppies I made them all as teens as a household (mermaid versions) and he gets a kick out of both CAS when I made them, the toddlers I threw into the household and just watching them all swim in the ocean and seeing all of the fish underwater. One day I'll miss these years beyond belief (it is depressing how quickly it flies by) so I'm okay with my reduced personal gaming time to myself. I just keep collecting new content and play when I can in the meantime.

Ive gone years w/o playing any iteration. I haven't played TS4 in nearly two years. Ive only played for a few hours yesterday to experience the new content in the patches so far. But i still play TS2 & TS3 off and on
The Sims has currently lost its identity. Bring it back for TS5

I believe as of late. Not sure about when I go back to school. :#
In sims 1 and 2 i played most days. In sims3 there was a time I went without playing for weeks because I got into another game. For sims 4 there could have been once or twice I went a couple weeks without playing. Depends on life, traveling, and etc. most times no more than a week away from playing.

I'm sorry for what's happening to you Writin_Reg! When I was pregnant with my son I played a lot of the Sims and it helped take my mind off of bedrest, third trimester insomnia, PUPPS, etc..

Years...

TS3 I stopped playing a few weeks after it released and I never went back to it. I didn't like it.
TS4 I stopped playing after a day and didn't really come back to it until seasons was released. I was sad about no toddlers.

Yeah , I mean I can go for years. There have been more years that I didn't play the sims than those I did. But now that I play sims 4 I have become dependent on this game , for better or worse :) It helps refocus my mind on something other than my anxiety.

Forever, if needed. I mean, I'm not gonna die if I don't get to play Sims, but I'd be very sad.

Months if I'm either playing something else, too busy or just generally not in the mood for playing anything :)

Currently it’s a week with 4 however after my old laptop broke with 3 I went 2 and a half years without playing any sims game before getting a new laptop which is when I got 4. Now I’ve got the sims bug again I play 4 nearly every night.

The days of going cold turkey when not near my game are over (I occasionally had to when on holiday but the game would be constantly on my mind, still making plans for my sims I'd immediately would start playing out as soon as I came back). As for playing, I play (and write, which for me is part of simming) less than I used to. But I always visit the forums, daily, which in a way indicates I still can't live without sims (and simmers).

I went a whole 7 days, I could probly go longer, but I am annoyed you have to have the updates or have to play it offline. I want making magic, but I don't really need the updates that came with it besides the stairs updates.

I went through over a year recently but I came back obviously. I have had phases in which I have been too busy. I seem to play in phases too.

I actually dropped out of TS3 over Katy Perry Stuff but I came back when I got a new computer and was in the mood. I switched over to TS4 during a sale and played heavily for two years as time allowed. I got busy but am back.

I probably need to balance it out and be more moderate but regular. It's all based on what I have time for. There are also times of the year when I want to play more, usually linked to weather.

Where are the years options? I bought TS4 since launch and stopped a few months after and when I came back JA was being released. Not that hard, after a day or two it gets easier to ignore.

I have to agree I have gone months without playing The Sims, Sims 2, Sims 3, or Sims 4 Sims Medieval or any of the Sims online, mobile or console games. If you were to ask how long I can go without playing an RPG Vanguard or a Miniatures game (like Warhammer 40k) or even chess or checkers well that would be like a day. Seriously I love the Sims but I love offline games I play much more to the point where I am going to wait to get they magical pack because the New Malifaux has come out and I am reading my cards for my masters including my favourite who ended up in The Dead Man's Hand and the new rules since the put out the Malifaux Third Edition and I just got new models for the new faction and the rule book. Plus I got sucked into Warcry and have been familiarizing myself with the rules and my army. Sorry Sims but I might stop playing you for another several months because I have an itch to run a long Shadowrun campaign and the D&D group I game with is in the middle of a mind-blowing campaign.
Playtesting - not just tabletop games and card games any more. Really that should have been playtested in Beta and not

Pretty much through my first week now. I have taken long breaks in the past when I have been completely frustrated. I am there now and didn't even bother buying the last two packs. When I am frustrated with the game, the team and bugs, it is time to take a break.

I have been watching quietly as people are complaining about more bugs in the new pack. It is like they do not even test the game anymore. I can't tell you how frustrating it was to see @catloverplayer mention the list of things a guru found wrong with the game and his title is QA Analyst. Wow so you test the game after it is live now??...LOL Then the thread gets closed when people are trying to figure out if there is a problem in their game before bogging down the AHQ forum.

Time to take a break for sure...good luck guys!! I hope it gets better for you.

Sims 1 was my first experience with the sims, I thought it was fantastic. Sims 2, I wanted to play every day, and had to share a computer, for me it was the most fun of all 4. Sims 3, I gave up early, too many rabbit holes for me. Sims 4, i play usually a few times a week. But, I did go 2 years without playing while saving for a new laptop. I can’t wait to see real babies, cars, casino’s, hotels, ski resorts, things for elders an teens, more interactions between children, and a host of other things.

I can go without 4 for a longer time than previous iterations. All I mostly do in 4 is CAS. Everything else lacks in depth of gameplay.

Past franchises makes up for it
