Hello, everyone long time no see. I hope everyone is doing great! I see modeling is still going strong. Doesn't feel like I've been gone for nearly a year.
Hey guys! Posting for a friend as we need more participants for this comp that is hosted over on Discord. I'm helping out as a judge too! All Sims games are allowed to participate, and there are no human body parts allowed either.
Note: Signups closed! Thanks to those who jumped in!
Hey yawl!
If you're looking for a beginner comp, to try your skills as a sims editor, or just to get feedback on your edits, look no further than Boho N Chic!
The season will be super short, as they only have 6 challenges each, with at least 6 days of deadline for them. It is also BG compatible, as you don't need to have any packs to contest! There won't be any copying of ideas either, as ALL challenges will be DM'd to the host.
The rules are simple, just be nice and play fair! ^^
@Gege Had a pretty crazy and stressful year, lol. I came back a few months ago and keeping it simple at the moment, as I'm trying to focus on some projects like finishing my tutorials. How are you?
Hey guys! We just launched our Sims Editing Workshop server on Discord! Open for all levels of editing, it is filled with veterans who will run workshops with tutorials to help you learn, providing feedback and resources along the way. Even if you don't think you want to learn anything, I recommend you stop by to also have fun and hangout!

I can understand that. My year has been chill. I moved house again. Trying to figure out what I want to do career wise. I really want to work for myself. I'm tired of the 8-5 grind. I've also been gaming a lot, just not on the Sims. I miss the modeling and I'm contemplating coming back. May make a return in October. I let my photoshop subscription lapse, so there's that to think about.
Also, can you add me back to the tag list? Thanks.

Ohhh, work for yourself, in what? I say go for it! Hopefully you can figure something out that works well. What games did you play? During my break I finally finished Dragon Age: Origins - Awakening and then finished Dragon Age 2. I started Dragon Age Inquisition but its just so different, open world, and a slightly slow start that I fell out of it, lol. But I'm planning on tackling it again at a later date, just not sure when with all the other stuff I have to do.
Yay, looking forward to you coming back! Its been a bit slow around here comp wise ever since Beech left for school, since she always had at least 2 or 3 comps running at a time, lol. But I'm launching a comp soon, and then another one a month or two later, to have 2 running and its going to be on Twitter/Discord too, which has its own community now. They run things a bit differently and have a few issues (like copying and faceplastering), mostly because of who influenced it (I'm sure you can guess), but they're slowly improving. We just recently opened an editing server for all levels to help teach different editing skills if you'd like to check it out. https://discord.gg/waT3JeA
And in case you haven't yet, make sure to vote in my poll! This helps me determine the next few comps I'm running and see which ideas are well received. I'll add you to the list!
Btw, if you need a PS and don't want to spend the money I have a CS6 available.
I say if you want to work for yourself, go for it! I actually have a small business designing shirts, mugs, canvas prints, etc. while I'm going to school and it's kind of slow, but I started it in March and have made $800ish with it. I was able to pay off my car so that's good. Even if you still have to work a little at a job, you can get some extra money if you have a side-hustle.
Anyway, it's good to see you again and I hope you stick around! Let us know how working for yourself goes. It is really liberating!

I'm somewhere between
I never really know a killer from a savior
I keep getting swallowed up with life and I drift off from the forums for a few days, sorry, guys. Anyways, as for starting my own business, I'm torn between getting really serious with my writing to go full time author, or starting some type of internet business, brainstorming a few ideas. My dream job would be opening up my own e-book store with an emphasis on romantic fiction. I've seen it done a few times growing from small beans, but Amazon definitely needs some competition when it comes to e-book sells. I'd also focus on self-publishing authors first as I doubt I could snag any NYT selling authors.
As for what games I play: I've been playing Dead by Daylight, but I'm getting away from that now as they keep nerfing every aspect of the game because players are never satisfied. Also, I play at lot of State of Decay. I met a lot of cool people who I game with and mostly chat and support on twitch. One of my gaming buddies is working his way through Dragon Age once again and I may give it a shot.
@MizoreYukii could you DM info on how to get the c6 version, would be greatly appreciated. I need to get back in the swing of things. Not sure if I want to dive into modeling just yet. I've barely even been playing the game although I have all expansions and stuff/game packs.
@Vanadis that is great to hear. There is definitely something to be said about working for yourself. I'm just burnt out working with people and on someone else's schedule and not my own. I know having my own business would be a lot of work, but I also think it would be very satisfying being my own boss.
Not on here, but we'll contact you as soon as there is, @TheOtherHannah I'm running a gameplay challenge if you're interested, however. This is the link... Shipwrecked!
@Gege I don’t check the sims forums as often as I used to either!! And I was off the forums for at least 5 months or so??? Im pretty sure I hadn’t done modelling for at least a year though! But recently got back into it xD
LOVER of all things cosplay, anime, cats, Shadowhunters, and Sims 4!
Hi @TheOtherHannah! We don't have any comps specifically for beginners open for applications at the moment, but I do have a beginner friendly comp launching in a few weeks. There is also a Discord comp called Boho N' Chic that is for beginners only, and currently is on assignment 4 out of 6, and season 2 will start right after. So that should be open in a few weeks too. I'll add you to the tag list for when a new comp goes up.
In the mean time, if you're interested in learning more about editing, etc. we also have a Discord server to help people out. Its filled with veterans and we have tutorials up, and will also be running challenges to cover different techniques. Our first challenge, that hasn't launched yet, is for beginners and learning to setup proper in-game lighting, then different methods for cutting out sims. https://discord.gg/waT3JeA
@Gege That's alright! I think either option sounds great for a business. And I have a Dead by Daylight key but never added it to Steam and played. I'm just not a PvP person, especially because it involves interacting with people, lol. But it looks like fun, maybe one day I can try to jump in after squashing my anxiety. xD
I haven't played Sims 4 much either, outside fiddling with setups and building for Jen's Caught on Candid Camera comp. I have to update my mods and CC, but there's an update like every month and it just breaks them again and I'm too lazy to do it right now. Not to mention we're about to get a Python update on S4, which means a TON of mods are about to break, some of which are abandoned but remained functional until now. So that's a huge blow to us and only motivates me further to study Python so I can update my favorite mods later.

Time flies. I have to make it a point to come up here more often. Missed you too, Jen. I hope you are doing well.
How long have you been gone NShipp? I have missed you all. And thanks I hope you are doing well, too.

I did read it, but never finished commenting. I still have it on my harddrive, I've just been so all over the place.
Also, I think you should push forward with self-publishing Jen!
