@bekkasan, thanks for explanation... That's a pity that NPCs won't have children autonomously. Moving my family to the other town is the best idea, I think Not perfect, as I really want my sims to keep relantionships with family living outside their household, but without mods...ugh
@CravenLestat that unpainted wall with a shower and toilet attached look strangely familiar. I've been known to do that sort of thing from time to time.
@CravenLestat that unpainted wall with a shower and toilet attached look strangely familiar. I've been known to do that sort of thing from time to time.
It just means our sims are super poor @karritz You gotta start somewhere
Omg Craven I could strangle you if you weren't so nice! What did I say about no gifting
Thank you so so much though. I can't believe you gifted me this and Sunlit Tides!
So incredibly generous of you @CravenLestat
@karritz I have to re-read everything you have said again, but I think your solution could be possible for me since I do have a large extended family on the tree. I have no idea how to set it up though. I know time doesn't pass when you're not playing other worlds, does that mean I would have to start treating my game TS2 style and cycle through the families?
Omg @Charlottesmom I just saw you gifted me too! Thank you so so so much both of you. I am one lucky simmer for having friends like you. Seriously, I appreciate it so much words cannot say
@coco I suspect most of the town are part of the family tree by now so I can imagine how hard it would be for you to give up on any of them
I do remember old saves of mine that I finally abandoned after 40 or so sim weeks only because they were too slow to load, not because they crashed or were unplayable. I didn't know about Porter or Save Cleaner back then so I could probably have played longer if I did but it is what it is and I moved on. These days I am so used to starting new saves it no longer bothers me. As long as I get a few generations of kids I am happy. It doesn't hurt that I often play the same sims over and over in different combinations and I bin all my favourites so they are never completely gone

I didn't play Sims 2.
But - the way I approach it is I have life on the maximum length I can get it without resorting to a mod.
So my sims in the played world age slowly. This gives me time to get to all the toddlers and train them all fully. That's why I use the boarding school. The other benefit of the boarding school is the sims all get to know each other and it makes the town more lively when they go back home as they now know lots of other sims around town. I try to make sure I don't get the same group back again to mix it up as much as possible. I put them into the school as toddlers, children and again as teens. By the way, when I say ALL the toddlers I mean ALL the toddlers in town - including townies. Problem is one of the townies in Barnacle Bay keeps having new babies whenever I take one or more of her toddlers away to attend boarding school. Mostly it isn't a problem though. She isn't married either. Single lady with more babies every time I look at her.
I use birthday cakes too whenever I want someone to be older - provided they have done all their skills for the age they are before using the cake.
One of my disasters was in a side game where I adopted 15 babies, one at a time, and aged them all up to Young Adult fast with multiple cakes. Then decided I wanted them to do their toddler skills so aged them all down to toddlers again. That took a bit of clearing up as they had stuff in them that they shouldn't have had until they were older. But in the end I got it all sorted out. They aren't in the big game - yet. If I find their save I suspect they'll end up in there. I think I know where the save is.
I've recently started playing with the boarding school in Chocolate Cake Island where they are the only sims in that world who matter. I think the world is unpopulated - I am kept busy with the boarding school. I send babysitters to visit other worlds to pick up toddlers and children and teens for training and to return anyone who is ready to go back home. I just have to remember which homes they all belong in. It isn't really difficult as I don't have them for their whole time at any one age.
When they are trained they go home. They don't usually age up at the school but if they do then they were about to anyway so that doesn't matter.
I occasionally play different families in various worlds. I just try to be sure that I move around the worlds where I have sims belonging to the same family to keep them all at similar ages. They do get out of wack a bit but that doesn't bother me since I've had so many mishaps now due to story progressison matching elders and young adults etc I've become used to using young again potions etc. It all adds to the fun. Mostly.
I do tend to forget sims in Hidden Springs and Moonlit Falls though as they are not related to my main family. But I'll get to them. The good thing is I can go there and play as long as I like an my main families just sit and wait for me to return and they haven't changed a bit.
Mostly I spend my time at the boarding school though. I even bring young adults and older sims into it sometimes too - we do need to rotate the babysitters and teachers.
I just do what I want when I want.
The problem with making the worlds age at the same time automatically is that toddlers turn into elders before you can get to them and unplayed worlds end up empty.
I do plan to move my mermaids, and Oscar and Louise and their family and Caroline and her friends as well as the Isla Paradiso Bunch into the Big Game eventually. That way I don't have to abandon them. They'll be waiting patiently for me to return to them whenever I feel like it. And in the meantime I'll have the fun of seeing them around town when I'm playing another household in their world.
Sam and Beathan did the gardening after Jordan and John returned from their vacation. It's good no time had elapsed but they could at least have done that much while the boys were gone!
I left John and Jordan to their own devices and found them doing what they (and most of my sims) do best
That is not your bed, boys!
John and Jordan, being friendly, are always wanting to meet new people. Instead of spending the whole day woohooing, I sent them to the park.
While I was watching the boys, I saw Timothy Svard walking with his daughter This is one of the reasons I could not play without Nraas SP. I remember when Timothy's parents were courting, when he was born and every birthday he has had. I know him without ever having to switch households and I know my town will not become a ghost town within a couple of generations. It will be filled with children and happy families
When I got back to the boys, Cliff had wandered off and my boys had lost interest in Cliff's wife, Natalie.
Awwwww Cliff came to Natalie's rescue
Beathan had a wish to level up in cooking. I had him prepare two meals but he was just shy of leveling up. When I saw that Sam was watching the TV I had him change the channel and Beathan joined him.
Beathan got his wish shortly after Sam got his notice
Beathan was invited to Harry Valquist's party. Jordan and John were the only ones who rolled wishes to attend but I sent everyone because Sam had a wish to play guitar at a party.
Aileas arrived shortly after they did and was the only other guest.
Since the host was busy cooking, I had my boys get started on the pregnancy books.
Aileas stayed outside and chatted with her dads
I saw Aileas head into the kitchen and thought she was going for a plate of food but when she bent down I realized that Harry's baby was on the floor!
You should be at home feeding your own baby, Aileas! She had given birth to a girl earlier that day.
Because it was an early party and Sam had a craving for pancakes, I sent the family home for dinner. I bet Sam regretted the pancakes when he saw those yummy burgers on the table!
After dinner the boys continued reading the pregnancy books while Jordan and John went outside to watch the stars.
The books were taking forever to read! I felt sorry for the boys and let them do some star gazing before bed.
After watching the stars, the old boys did their own thing until bedtime.
@bekkasan Grreat update it was a bit itnense hehe,
I spent my day playing a rpg called kingdom come deliverance.
when im not simming foro ne day its usually when I play my other games.
@coco Glad you were gifted that world its beautiful
@coco I'm sorry to hear your save has become unplayable. I've never understood how anyone keeps theirs going for so long as most of mine only make it a few months. The Ballan family was longest at 8 months real time. I only packed the Ballan family and the Sinclair's as they are extended family, rather than the whole town. I saved several families to bin that my sims interacted with and removed those families when I made the new Midnight Hollow and added back the ones I had saved. I used MC to renew the relationships they had. I could have ported them, but, did not want to deal with the inventory issues. At the final stages of my save I couldn't even play a few minutes to deal with emptying the inventories before packing them. It was hard enough just saving to library.
Have you talked to @igazor over at Nraas? He has some long lived games and may have some insight for you. I am trying to have the connected worlds to keep the strain off the main world. So far so good. Again, got the advice from @igazor on how to set up as the info on the web pages is not completely clear or is in several places and have to hunt for it. I need to visit the Sinclair's when my Sims finish at uni!
@king_of_simcity7 Nice party pics. Not sure if I want a view in my sims bathroom, If you can see out, someone can see in!
@Mikezumi Congrats on more babies!
Pretty day at the park!
I agree about SP. I love the liveliness of town and I can change settings to adjust the town as I see fit in my worlds.
lol at Jordan jumping in John's arms in the park! Control boys, control!
John is totally checking out Cliff's butt in the next picture!!
Congrats on the pregnancy!
Glad Aileas picked up the baby though. That was nice.
Baby books do take too long to read. I've been sending sims to library to read them.
Thanks for your comments about Marshall. They why will be revealed eventually. Not very happy happy huh? Tough writing outside my norm.
@Silverofdreams30 Thanks! Yes, a bit different from my usual style and very hard for me to write, but, there is a story reason for it, which will be revealed, but I need a few more pictures and I'm working today and depends on if they add more visits if I get to play.
@emorrill, I hope you will feel better soon, being depressed sucks!
@gerefteast, thanks I'm glad Cyrus was playing games with Mars; when he first went to uni, he just gave many lectures to an empty hall xD
Hamburgers can be romantic but what is that baby bottle thought...
@bekkasan, thanks Poor Marshall; the bullies are mean for beating him up I hope he won't die!
@Mikezumi, there are some weird presents, ey xD I use some of mine but the gross ones get discreetly sold!
Wow, prehistoric nectar! I wouldn't risk drinking it That maze is really cool
@coco, I am sorry your game is crashing Have you tried playing in windowed mode? My game kept crashing (I have 5 EPs) and I switched to windowed mode about a week ago and no crashes!
A lot of my uni pics came out dark, so here are some of the better ones.
Pretty sunset.
Cyrus is thinking, "I hope this machine is not searching for my emotions!"
Mars at a party. I'm not sure why she is wearing her swimming costume.
@bekkasan Thanks for the comment I had not even realised that there was a window there. All this time and other Sims must have been able to see inside!
I remembered that Melanie and Cecil are Adventurous Sims. And so I took them on an adventure, starting in Al-Medina, Morocco.
There was a base camp. Cece and Melon relaxed on the bed after a long flight.
After relaxing and napping for a few hours, they decided to see a bit of the city. They went to this beautiful garden/ park. Well, I think it was a park. But it was very pretty and they took some great pictures.
They went to one of the many restaurants to eat and socialize with some of the city's locals.
They rode to an empty park to do some star-gazing.
On day two, Melanie tried to work on her painting skill. But she got Street Art credits instead, for some reason.
They raided the fridge and then made a trip to a little fishing hole. But they quickly got bored with that.
The little wild animals were much more entertaining.
The pictures they took would have made them a lot of money, but they chose to keep the memories.
They headed to the market to grab a few things. Cecil bought very expensive cameras for them both.
Cecil: Here ya go, love.
Melanie: Aw thanks, baby.
Then Melanie did what she did best: critique the world around her.
Then nightfall came. Melanie and Cecil headed to a lounge to have a few drinks.
They went downstairs to meet more locals and dance. Boy did they dance!
After that crazy night, they went back to their hotel for some much needed rest. They woke up, showered and went back to the empty park to meditate.
They couldn't resisted scaring each other and having a balloon fight.
Then as a 'punishment', Melanie made him take her to the fairy arboretum. Melanie loved it, of course. Cecil didn't.
Luckily, the arboretum was on the beach, which they both love. So they spent some time having fun in the water.
They barely made it to their 'flight' to Barnacle Bay. That's where they're going next.
Good Day Everyone! My family has gotten our tax refund so now I think I maybe able to get a new graphics card for my computer. Then I will be able to play again. Still have not been able to figure out why posting pictures does not work for me though. This week my husband and I were driving when we were hit by another car. We had a green light and the other car turned in front of us. My husband and I were not hurt at all but our car had to go in to the shop to be fixed. So at the moment we have a rental car. Hope that you all are doing well.
