Would You Like Gambling Back?

«1
I miss playing cards and using the slot machines from The Sims 3 casino Store item. It was so much fun playing around and risking everything you own. Even though The Sims 4 is too tame and childish aimed at teenage girls as the developers admitted to. Would you like it if gambling came back?

yes. And I would love it if they would bring back other features too, like. The social bunny, getting arrested, dancing/kicking peoples tombstones, the social worker, etc. Sigh, we all wanted the sims 4 so bad yet we never realized what the sims 2 had..

Yes, I do miss it. Perhaps they will add it in a vacation pack? That would be nice. I enjoy the items in Sims 3 as well when I play it. I also miss firemen, actual burglars and getting arrested too. I miss the random shenanigans and occasional chaos. I miss the stupid/silly whimsical stuff that could happen when I played. Creating my own ridiculous situations and chaos is not as fun as when the game would throw me a curve ball and then laugh at me about it.

That is not a feature I would ever use. Even the slot machines in Sims 1 were never of any use to me. But then, I hate gambling IRL too.

I can't say that is a feature I highly desire - could take it or leave it to be honest and there are several other things I would far rather have - but I would like some options for grittier game play.
I agree having random curveballs thrown rather than playing pretend and eleaboratly orchestrating my own drama has appeal - but I am also big on player control. So risk that is triggered by player action is a great way to incorporate these things, and that was largely how it was handled in the sims 2 as well, don't want to get arrested? Don't sneak out at night, etc.
gambling is an easy mechanic to achieve that balance between risk and player control with, so I can see why some would suggest it - if you don't want to gamble, don't - but they would have to balance that with other features in a pack that enough people would use, as gambling is controversial and there are people with strong feelings about it.
Have you tried "gambling" using the wishing well, or other "chance" objects that include risk of failure/undesirable outcomes?

Yes, going to the casino was always fun in Sims 3. One of my Sims in S3 was a a chain smoking boozing gambler who slowly improved to be a better person and got married, but I still enjoyed sending him and his wife to the casino when they needed a break from the kids.

I miss a lot of things from TS3 and TS2. I agree the casino stuff was really fun. I wish they had the optional store so we could buy optional things.

I'd love gambling. It would be really cool if there was options on a slot machine or card table for "standard" and "the house" at which point the odds would be more in favor of losing. It would also be cool if we got a slot machine, and own a retail lot with a slot machine and be able to "upgrade" it to "the house" where a sim would autonomously gamble on the lot, but the money would go into our pocket, if the random sim wins, it's out of our pocket, but if we upgraded it to the house, the random sim just loses money to our sim.

Yes. Lucky Palms in TS3 was a gorgeous world and I loved all the stories I had that revolved around the casino. Sigh. So much fun.

I'd love to be able to build a casino resort for my Sims.

Slot machines and a roulette table would go a long way towards making that happen.
Though, maybe instead of money (if that's "too adult"), we could win tokens to be redeemed at a prize kiosk:

I loved the slot machines and blackjack. My sims never had to work once they were handy enough to hack the machines and had a decent enough gambling skill. Just spend a couple days a week at the casino and you're set for life.

Yes. Lucky Palms was one of the best things about The Sims 3.

No, I don't mind their absence one bit. Gambling is something that goes highly against my values irl, so I am perfectly fine without it being in the game.

I think the idea of having it my game even I don't particularly use it. I'm sure it'll probably get it's own SP kind of like bowling.

Yes. My sims nowadays have nothing to do with their money anyway. If gambling does come back I’d like for it to be a real challenge like in real life and not just be an easy way to stack up more simoleans unless you have the devil’s luck.

I don't understand this whole teenage girls thing. Every other person on this forum obsesses over it. So what if teen girls want to play? Why is this such an issue.

    Same thought... unnecessary detail.

But yes, I'd love to have gambling back.

I don't think I ever used it to b honest. I had them, I just never used them. Heck I haven't even used the wishing well yet. It's just a thing I haven't thought to do.

    ETA:
Regardless of my use of them I always like more options to be there, never know when something might fit.

My thoughts are mixed on the idea. It would a cool idea to have some objects to make a casino or "game area", maybe similar in execution to bowling where you can turn a bar or lounge into a casino. On the other hand though I don't know if it would be allowed with how gambling is seen nowadays. I'm not going into the discussion of politics and the like over the matter, but I'm just wondering if it wouldn't raise the rating. I have my doubts it would but it is something that the devs would have to factor in.

If it's all good though, sure. Maybe to get around it instead of Simoleons there's another currency or something like tokens. I dunno. But it would be a cool concept and would be really interesting to seem what people would come up with. And if we go with theme, gotta go with that hollywood glamour or 40's mobster look. Glitz and flashy lights to make everything look inviting.

I think that refers to the game currently being more about vanity and aesthetics rather than gameplay to please that specific shallow-minded demographic.

While I can see how it would be fun for a lot of simmers, I'm not sure I would use it that much. That's just me though

This is a great example of where I'd love to see allow the purchase of modders (approved) content. You could then pay/download the animations of card playing, slots, etc. along with the related items (decks, slots machines, etc) After I win powerball, Id love to dedicate time to create animated mods, where the Sims do physical things (swing sets, intoxicated visuals, waking up without enough sleep (physical grogginess) - those sorts of things. Wish me luck for Wednesdays drawing!

Most items are free, but making the Sims physical is where the time and effort is needed, and Id have no issue paying for the work.

I would like an entertainment pack with gambling and entertainment careers in a world like Las Vegas, full of bright neon lights in the desert.
