[City Living] "I couldn't reach your mailbox..."

"...but I managed to throw your mail in somehow."
My current Sim is residing in the Culpepper apartments. As soon as I got the notification from the mailsim, I went to the apartment atrium/common space where the mailboxes are each in a row on a wall for each apartment, and when I hovered my mouse over my Sim's mailbox, the "Pay bills" and "Get mail" options where grey and I couldn't select anything.
Where is the mailsim "throwing" my mail? Where can I find it, if not in my mailbox? Is this exclusive to the City Living expansion / Update? There is no option to "Pay bills" when selecting my Sim's computer.

Try seeing if the same thing occurs next time the mailman comes,
It may not have been time for the weekly rent to be paid.

I checked the mailbox just in case, but nothing.
It is good that you were able to pay the bills.
Perhaps it is a notification that the game generates, whether there is mail or not?

I had the same issue after I've upgraded my mailbox to the most expensive one, and I positioned it right on the edge of the plot. The solution is simply to move it a bit away from the edge of the plot. I am referring to the green box that appears when you grab the item. I made sure mine is 2 squares away from the plot edge.
No issue after the repositioning.

At first I thought it was a prompt to my neighbor but that can't be it with the amount of times they come out and check their mail.
This glitch is kind of annoying.

When the time comes when you are due to receive the bills or mail, you should still receive them in your mailbox. Other simmers who have this message have found, that when the time came to receive the bills/mail they still were able to access them in their mailbox. The notifications then may stop.
