I love Seasons.. Find it the most important EP in series.. but I am afraid and really scared that they will limit Seasons somehow like they did with apartments.. and probability for that to happen is quite high... so this simmer's heart is scared.. because it fears to be broken into pieces soon:(
I love Seasons ! I hope we'll be able to customize the seasons per world, and choose the daylight time ! Daylight being shorter in winter and longer in summer is an essential part of seasons for me.
As much as I want Seasons after seeing features like apartments being locked to one world I don't have much hope its even possible. They really seem to not be able to add to existing worlds like Magnolia Promenade could not be added to Willow Creek this tablet game has its limitations.
Sims 4 went from "You Rule" to "One of the stories we want you to tell"

I would love to be able to adjust the daylight time for each world and season! As well as selecting which seasons happen in each world. All summer in Oasis Springs, hot and rainy in Willow Creek, long winters in Windenburg!
I just really really really hope they don't give us a lame seasons pack.
I just hope that when we get a seasons like EP it isn't just vacation world's with different weather. Like "Here's a snowy world to visit, and here's a super hot world to visit" I wanna be able to have all 4 seasons in a world if I want!
Also it'd be nice to control weather per world... like I want all 4 seasons in Windenburg but maybe just summer in Oasis Springs? Idk... I doubt we'll be able to do that though lol.
We were able to control the Seasons for every neighborhood in The Sims 2 - There was a wheel with four sections, one for Fall, Winter, Spring, and Summer. If you wanted to make a neighborhood a tropical one, you could select "Summer" for each of the four seasons! Or you could make two seasons "Fall", and two "Spring" and just have a full Sim 'year' of transitioning rain, flowers, bugs, sun, falling leaves... etc! Whatever you wanted! It could very well be possible in the Sims 4... if we ever get a Seasons expansion

I liked that in 2 a lot! though I do like how 3 expanded on it so you could adjust the length of the seasons.

So agree... and my heart is literally in pain.. because I know it is coming - the news about : oh guys the seasons will be added only to vacation worlds or they will be limited to one dam world or other... I wish and hope that at least here, dear EA management... would not use limits... any dam limitations...(even if I know they will, but hope dies the last) please.... please .... please... do not kill this game entirely...

oh my that would not be so bad:))) if they would go for it then it is not so bad, because still seasons will be available everywhere:))) thank you @Skidoodilybop for the news...:))))
I really want seasons, however they often speak about how current worlds can't be edited and all that.. so will they even be able to create seasons for all worlds or is it all in one world again. Since we can't build apartments in the others aswell.

YES!! Oh I would be so so over the moon happy about setting the daylight time
Then I would have the world in which my ghosts and supernaturals live being much darker, less sunhours. You can do so many fun things with lighting, and I would love to have a world that I designed to be darker for the largest part of the day. Then I could really go overboard into making it pretty with lights. You can do it now but it gets dark so late, and my working sims sleep through most of it. Would be fun to shorten daytime just a few hours.
The weather would need to go through a load screen to have anything like in Sims 2 or 3 the way 4 seems to work. I think if we see weather it will be per lot basis like in Sims 1. Maybe one small neighborhoood like OR or something. The backdrops would be to much for this game to put through all the seasonal changes needed - I think.
PS - I hope I am wrong though.

As much I'd love to see something dedicated to seasons, I don't think that will happen based on what the focus of the other EPs and GPs has been. I think it's going to come as part of a pack for something else. I could even see them giving us one season at a time and having a fall themed pack, winter themed pack, etc. Who knows. This is pure speculation My second choice after having seasons would be something with pets. This time, though, with a better variety of pets - ferrets or more interactive caged animals. I always loved pets. Have many myself IRL

I can see that as well. "Seasons" would be the first "additional paid content" I would buy. (I totaled out the cost of all of them relative to how interesting they are to me and the price ain't right-- so far.)
But as you said, they can't do much to the Base aside from what they are doing-- temporary guest sims like Jasmine Holiday whom they seem to "activate" for special features (she will vanish n 4 NOV-- without them issuing a patch to do so. She is "time-bombed")-- Just like the Growfruit Challenge and whatever else they issued already-- but to have seasons roll around in the base would mean they would have to rework the game's timekeeping mechanism which right now is only the seven days of a week. That's a lot of recoding... and that doesn't even take into account what else such a recode would affect.
methinks any "Seasons" would be restricted to the environment with which they are issued, rather like "Dine Out" features are restricted to that world, "Get to Work"-- nothing from there would transfer back to the base worlds or other EPs one might have purchased. (The medical team from your hospital can't go to the Dine Out section and have a dinner after their shifts, etc.. That is more of an "Open World" function I believe.
But hey, these are only my thoughts on the matter. Maybe they'll surprise the "plum" out of us and come up with some way to blow our socks off.
i, too, very much want seasons. but seeing how they have said the worlds cannot be edited, i'm not going to have very high expectations if they announce they are creating a seasons-focused pack. if there's only seasons in one town, i might cry. i'm not even joking.
in the sims 3 and the sims 2, seasons was one of the most important packs for me, personally. it really added a lot more sense of life to the game; seeing the sims look out the window at the first snow or get sun burnt during summer. now, in the sims 4, it's like summer forever.
i think they will probably bring in a seasons pack - though it may not be what most simmers expect it to be.
Oh my goodness the game is beautiful, but wow it would be even more so if there were seasons....especially autumn. If we do get them, it probably won't be for a while smh.
I feel like Seasons is imminent. I mean it seems to be most people's favourite expansion of the Sims 3 (it was definitely mine) and will likely be a massive-seller; which, let's be honest, is EA's primary point of even developing expansions.
Personally, I feel that The Sims 4 is a massive step up from The Sims 3. The sims themselves are more alive, EVERYTHING looks beautiful (seriously, the visuals still blow me away) and the game just feels and plays so much better. BUT... we are in DESPERATE need of new gameplay and Seasons would add a ton of it. My dream is that they release an expansion that has Seasons and Generations combined. The Sims 4 painfully lacks family gameplay and this would fit in very nicely with Seasons.
If we look at what they've released so far... Get To Work brought more involved careers in, which I think makes sense as a first expansion. Get Together added groups and socialising (bars, clubs, cafes, etc). City Living looks set to be focused on socialising again... So seriously, if the fourth expansion isn't something more oriented to family gameplay (like Seasons, Generations, or Pets) then I'd be very surprised (and disappointed).
I love Seasons ! I hope we'll be able to customize the seasons per world, and choose the daylight time ! Daylight being shorter in winter and longer in summer is an essential part of seasons for me.
I know right! Where I live, we have about three hours of daylight in winter (but northern lights!) and almost no darkness at all during the summer. I know this is extreme compared to how most people experience seasons, but being able to customize it in the game would be a dream come true!
Ideal expansion; seasons, cats+dogs, and some generations gameplay, and a new rural town. They'd fit together really well and expansion packs are supposed to be broad now. But it's probably likely we'll see a seasons gamepack, adding weather, seasonal activities, maybe even holidays.
Seasons is one of my favorite packs in the franchise, but I have serious reservations about how I think they will be implemented.
Each world (especially the two bg worlds) rely heavily on special effects to give them their look and feel. They've been pretty adamant recently that they can't alter existing worlds. With the large scale use of deco content, and special effects, they no doubt would have to edit every world. They've said there is nothing "prohibiting" their ability to add seasons, but that doesn't mean they will choose to implement them in the form we all want and expect. Apartments are a very fine example of this.
To be honest what I want is for them to put Seasons & Generations together as EP. That would be my dream, this where you can get more family time play. Plus they can add Great GP for its and Stuff pack. JMO- But I do want season so bad.
I was thinking the exact same thing, it would be good to see the two mixed together as Winter/Summer are times when you are closer to your family
