Both Sides of the Family for a Wedding

It really annoys me that only the Sim who initiates the wedding planning phone call can invite Sims to the wedding. So if Don Lothario initiates the wedding planning with Cassandra, if he doesn't know all her best friends and family too, Bella and Mortimer won't even be at their daughter's wedding.

I know that there are ways around this, like inviting the other Sims over individually, but when the two fiancees aren't in the same household, so you aren't controlling the other bride/groom, you can't easily do that either.

I propose that it would be a great new feature if the Sim planning the wedding event had access to the relationship panels of both the soon-to-be-married Sims.

Also applies for kids' birthdays. It's annoying that the parents can't invite the kid's friends if they don't know them themselves.

Oh gosh this! The way I get around the kids birthday is to make a kids club, set up the birthday then get the kid to start a gathering! Its pretty frustrating that this isn't an option.

Yeah, you'd think with the multiple Hosts option you can have for a party, you could add the relationship panels of all the Hosts (and the Birthday Sim in that scenario) to the guest list.

I believe in TS2 you had access to the relationships panel for all the Sims in a household when you were planning a party, but whether or not they showed up to the party still depended on their relationship with the party's initiator. I think that in TS4 they should change it so that it depends on their relationship with anyone who's either a Host or a special event Sim (like the Birthday Sim or the Brides/Grooms, which are given their own designated slots in the party planning UI).

That sounds like it could be an easy fix, like a patch type thing. I hope they fix that cause it is really annoying. I remember they fixed that in the sims 3. It was really nice having everyone's contacts on the invite list. Weddings suddenly became beautiful.

I hadn't realised they fixed that in TS3! Gives me hope for fixing it in TS4. And I know what you mean - it's a bummer when it feels like half the family is missing.

Hmmm.. I remember my wedding, only the Sims that the Host knows could be invited... and the Husband knew the Bride's side of the family. so it should happen.

I agree with you, however I would say that if we are being true to life, most likely if you are marrying someone you will know their relatives already. Most people don't meet their in laws for the first time on their wedding day. For the purposes of the game, it would be nice if both sides could invite their family though.

I agree that this is usually true IRL for the nuclear family of the host. Sometimes I like to introduce everyone at a family party first, but sometimes I don't have time for that!

It is quite annoying that both the groom and bride family members don't pop up when planning wedding event. In the past I would have my potential bride and groom both invite their parents over for a dinner party so everyone could meet each other so that way they know their fiance parents no matter who plans the event. But it would be a lot easier if I didn't necessarily have to do that.

I agree, this is something that seems like it could be patched in. They might not even realize it's a problem. It's something I've definitely been annoyed by, though, either for weddings or kids birthday parties.

Yes! This drives me crazy! For both wedding and kids birthday parties, but also just parties in general. Not everyone in the household has the same friends, so I end up having house parties where one of host's best friend wasn't invited :-/

I usually have private weddings so I didnt know about this but wow, sounds like this needs to be fixed!
