Entirely too much fun

«13
Okay, I'd played this a bit a while back via gamefly. And it was kinda enjoyable for some bizarre reason. So I decided to buy the starter pack last week. ANd since then, I've logged entirely too much time into Sims 3. What do I mean? I've logged nearly 80 hours in a single week. What. The. Bell?! Well done for a strangely addictive game. It's entirely too much fun guiding a virtual family through everyday life. No, seriously. Why the heck is this so fun?!

    Hi,

Welcome to The Sims 3!

I have no idea why it's so addictive but I know it is. Hope you have lots of fun. :cookie:

I know... Just signed out a bit ago so I could do some reading and work on a short story I'm writing. And already I have this urge to sign in and start yet another sim. The fact I'm mentally narrating their lives doesn't help. Such as what happened with Eric Clapon. Why is guiding virtual people through life so fun?

I have been addicted for years. Be careful!!!!! I fired up TS3 right after supper and stayed on until 1:30 am and had to force myself to go to bed. After only 5 hours of sleep I will be at it again. My poor husband has to compete with my sims. ;)

Hits pretty close to home. Lol. Fortunately he loves his sports and there is always something going on year round. So he watches his games and I "buy sims clothes" is how he puts it. Ever time he walks buy I have someone in CAS. :p

LOL I'm not usually that bad. Not since I initially got addicted to, then burned out on City of Heroes And even at my worst I generally can put the game down to do other stuff. The problem is, right now I HAVE no other stuff besides eating and sleep, for the most part. I'm on vacation after all. Actually, I'm on a trip with my dad this year. He laughed at me cause the entire car trip to where we're going I was on my computer playing Sims 3. Should be able to keep out of the game this weekend. We're in the Dells after all.

I've been playing The Sims series since 2007. I've played all four games in the franchise. I loved TS2 for the longest, but TS3 is my favorite. Yes, it can be very addicting.

You would have to add one more panel to make this me. *Cartoon me lies in bed impatiently listening for sounds of deep breathing, once this is heard quietly sneaks out of bedroom and back to computer.*

Mwahaha welcome to the dark side. >:)

I've been with the sims franchise since 2004 and sims 3 since 2009 and I'm pretty sure my addiction is still growing. You would think after so long I would get bored but no.

So lol, prepare to sacrifice your whole life to this game.

I've been so bad with Sims 2 that I'm only able to run it on this computer in windowed mode and I also have to watch that I don't forget to end my Sims 3 sessions before it gets too long.I also spend a lot of time either CC shopping or Modding my game out when I'm not playing or here.

Still, 80+ hours in a week is a bit much. I may have to start setting an alarm to tell me to stop playing after a few hours.

I haven't gone as far as to watch videos of people play Sims 3 yet.

Then again, I did come up with a short story idea dealing with Sims 3 and a certain dimension traveling super spy I occasionally write about. He would have a field day with super spies and terrorist organizations acting like 9 to 5 jobs.

Some people blog about their games and some people use blogs to make up stories and just use the game for pictures. I think the game is s addictive because we get to make up little stories for our people and give them emotions and personalities. Although, sometimes those develop all on their own. Glad you enjoy the game. Happy simming!

I am lucky in that my partner has his own addictions (Witcher 3 dlc atm) so I don't need to feel bad about neglecting him... we just sit in the same room playing our own games and chatting to each other about what our various characters are doing. As for spending a lot of time gaming... I still have time to work, keep house, read books, watch a little TV, socialise, eat and get a shower!

I find it goes in phases - sometimes I might spend all my time with Sims & other times I'll just be on for half an hour before I go off & do something else. I guess it depends how interested I am in what's happening in the little dudes' lives.
Nothing to say for myself... as usual.

Okay, this is a bad sign. I need to lay off the sims for a while... My dreams last night were in the format of 3rd person isometric view, with a Sims 3 UI overlay as I go about my own daily life.
