Hi,

I don't know how it is in the American household, in the French household we don't wear shoes at home, we wear slippers.
I saw in the Japanese household, they put theirs shoes near the front door and they walk barefoot or in socks.

The yoga mat show me it was possible to remove temporarily the shoes, so I would like to get a similar feature.

For example, like when the sims wear the outerwear when they go outside, when my sims come back at home, they should remove their shoes.

A doormat or a rug could do this feature.

I like this idea. In my house we don't wear our shoes inside. We have an area to keep them. Keeps the floors and such much cleaner. I would love it if my sims only wore their shoes when they leave the house.

I would like that too! It would add more realism to the game, and it could possible be in an update instead of something that you would buy. But, then again... if some people don't want there sims to take their shoes off.... (Meaning keep there shoes on inside the house) Will there be some kind of option to make them take of their shoes or not?

Removing shoes before entering one's home is typical of Asian culture. I'm Asian and my family has always done this, even though, we now live in America. I think it'd be a neat option, maybe by designating a specific rug to place shoes?

*Edit: Maybe not 'place shoes' but you click on it and your sim will remove their shoes...

Yes.

If you don't put the "No shoes" doormat, the sims will keep their shoes.

I a, canadian and we typically remove our shoes walking inside the house and put them either on a doormat or in the main hall closet woth all of the jackets and mitts, scarfs, etc. I would love this to add to the realisim of the game.

Is it really true that there are countries where you keep your shoes on indoors? :x
I always thought it was a stereotype joke about Americans. I'm not trying to be rude, but I have never met anyone from any country who kept their shoes on. In Denmark it's considered pretty rude if you walk into someones house without taking off your shoes :/
What if you stepped in something nasty?? You would spread it all over the place??

I like this idea. Like when sims Practice Yoga, they take off their shoes if they're wearing a pair.

This is one of the many things that have been left out for a while, aside from the fact that a 24 hour clock is no available anymore [for some stupid reason] it is much a pet peeve.

Everyone always says Americans wear their shoes in the house, but personally I've never seen it. I think maybe they get this idea from tv shows, where people are always wearing shoes in tv set houses, because it's not safe to go around sets in bare feet or socks.

That being said, I think adding this feature to the game would be overkill. People remove their shoes as a cleanliness issue, which just isn't the case in the Sims. Unless you wanted them to also implement a feature where they need to vacuum/ sweep their floors and Sims who didn't take their shoes off had floors get dirtier faster? I'm not completely against it, I just can think of a long list of things I'd like to see added before this.

It's not only a cleanliness issue, it's also more comfortable same as wearing a more comfortable and neglected clothing at home.
Sure it's details, Maxis could make the sims do yoga wearing shoes like the previous games too.

I like this idea, or having a 'go barefoot' interaction that removes shoes. I dislike outdoor shoes being worn inside, why would you want to bring dirt and muck into your clean house? XD

A 'go barefoot' interaction would be good when you want your sims to play in the new Romantic Garden fountain too.

I like this idea, it would be very cute. I don't know anyone that wears their outside shoes past the doormat in real life so I think it would be really neat to see my sims in their socks/bare feet.

Not needed, but cute nonetheless.

I like this I think it is cute. I actually gave one of my sims socks instead of shoes for her everyday wear because she rarely leaves the house :)

I wish sims could take their slippers off when they go to bed and when they swim. It's one of the reasons I rarely use slippers on my sims. Sebastian looks like he's got a really bad sunburn.

I like this, shoes are strictly outside wear where I live. I think it is a bit minor though, and agree that there are other more interesting features to fix and add, for gameplay.

A work around is to give the sims different outfits and make them change to the 'barefoot' when coming home. Sim guests will be very rude walking in with shoes on, but they are so by intent anyway I am inclined to interpret it..
