I may not get actively involved in these forums but I read and absorb them pretty much every day. I'm a huge Sims 4 fan, I truly love this game and find it endlessly charming and beautiful. I love to build my worlds up and create families and then spend a few months playing before starting again. I understand this game is young and we can expect lots to be added to it over the next few years so I don't feel I need to make a song and dance over what content i'd like to see. Obviously I'd love some toddlers, seasons and perhaps a colour wheel and loads more furniture so I can get creative with my houses but I trust the creators and whatever they have planned for the game. I'm looking forward to seeing Sims 4 grow and evolve and become richer, it's exciting.
That being said, it does truly sadden me to see so many Simmers get so hostile and aggressive with their demands for Sims 4. It also surprises me how many Simmers seem to want an exact replica of previous Sims game expansions. Surely if you want Sims 4 to be Sims 3 then just play Sims 3?
Yes, of course everyone is entitled to share their feedback and opinions but I'm not talking about the people leaving constructive criticism of a much loved game, I'm talking about the people who are being incredibly vicious and hateful about Rachel Franklin and the team creating this game, even the Gurus. The Sims is a very personal game in the way people like to play so how on Earth can they please everyone?
I'm of the belief that good things grow from good, positive places and nothing good can come from war which is what these forums seem to have become. Is it really any wonder Sims 4 is so secretive about new content when the forums are so aggressive

At the end of the day, if this game is causing nothing but negativity and sour feelings then why not leave it and go and play something you do enjoy?

And, ironically, the main reason that these forums are so aggressive is the silence and lack of transparency from the Dev team. When they start actually taking responsibility and being open with their customers, I think you'll see a shift in many attitudes. Will there ever be a point when everyone is happy? Not likely, but them openly acknowledging the issues that they have created would be the first step towards a more pleasant forum experience.

They were, once. However nothing they did could make people satisfied, so... I would leave too. Just saying.

You would abandon the official forums of the game you are in charge of developing because people are mean? Wow, that just doesn't seem like good business sense no matter how you look at it. It's THEIR game. They should address the issues they create, not stick their heads in the sand and weep gently and take their toys home with them.

Because this thread will just make everyone feel warm and fuzzy again.
You said it yourself, everyone is entitled to their opinion. All criticism is constructive if it makes them work harder. The only thing that is utterly pointless are threads like these.

Why is this thread pointless? Because it is supporting TS4??
I don't think all critisism around here is constructive, some goes closer to pointless nagging (sure you're free to do that too as long as it follows the rules). I think threads like this are about who feels comfortable being in this space and who doesn't. It's clear that there are people who don't feel comfortable because of the divide.
Some people are just asking for acknowledgement and honesty, its been so silent recently and since GC people feel they are not being heard. Someone official (not a moderator) needs to come here and talk to us truthfully and loosen the leash a little when it came to answering peoples questions, as people has questions they want answered and has no outlet for this.
I personally dont 'hate' the sims 4, im disappointed which is a big difference. And I want the game to succeed and be better, i want the franchise to continue as its a game i been playing since the beginning, but i personally feel they are not listening, all i want is that confirmation that they are listening. A simple Yes of No will suffice to my many questions.
I wanted to show some support for Sims 4 with this thread and was hoping some others might come forward to say they also love the game and despise the negativity. If by slim chance the people working on Sims 4 ever read these forums, I'd like them to see that some of us do love this game and appreciate their work....that's really what I was thinking. I wasn't looking for a new thread of hate but perhaps I was naive.

Sorry that's how it goes here. I have same hopes as you.

Absolutely. Some people can be very hostile and it creates a really bad vibe.

I totally understand this and in a lot of ways, I agree. I would love them to talk to us more but I do believe the reason they don't is due to how hostile some Simmers can be. Of course I could be totally wrong on that, it's just my theory.
Well i certainly hope they are not keeping a distance to us just because they are afraid of negative feedback...
And i dont hate the Sims 4 or the developers either, i just dont like the way they decided to drop so many of the features i really liked in the previous game(s) in the series.

If you expect us to give you the benefit of the doubt that you were just 'naive', then perhaps you should have done that for the dissatisfied players who just want to be heard. Have you considered that maybe they weren't looking for a new thread of hate either?
Perhaps if we would just allow each other to rave or rant about the game as we see fit, then we won't have to be too fussed about each other's naivete.
And if you want to show support for TS4 by all means do that. You say how much you love the game, and then you stop.
BTW: Every part of your post about the game I'm sure would be appreciated by the Maxis team.

If what you wanted to do was to show some support and love for the devs, they are most likely to be reached through twitter. You can message each and every one of them individually and tell them how much you appreciate their work. The chances of them seeing that feedback there are many times greater than them finding this thread which pretty much only serves to call out other simmers for their behavior rather than applaud the game.
Even though I do agree with you hate towards actual persons is a no go, I'm glad this community has such a strong voice in describing their issues with the game and feels the same way about the recent interview as I do (angry, very angry). I appreciate you're a fan of this game, I'm playing it myself right now trying to find things in it I like, but at the same time I really think something's really not right with it. This forum may be quite vocal about their disapproval, but other forums I visit are kind of dying at the moment. Some people express their discontent by protesting and tireless explaining why they don't like it, others just withdraw from the game silently. If I worked for EA I'd be glad with that first group who at least takes the effort to keep communicating about it.
A lot of people seem to misunderstand what the point of all the negativity and criticism is about. I've been playing since TS1 - I grew up with the Sims, I adore this franchise. However I can't deny how much worse this game has become, especially in the management of customer service and transparency. There are a ton of problems with TS4 and as a fan I'm going to talk about them because I care about the game and the franchise. I'd love for TS4 to be a huge success but success doesn't come without criticism. You have to know where to improve. So believe it or not, most people who complain about the game are doing so out of a place of respect for the game but also frustration. A lot of us have been ignored and completely dismissed by EA/Maxis, which is just so, so, so disrespectful and over time becomes harder and harder to handle. Are there trolls out there who will put this game down for no reason? Absolutely. But don't ignore the legitimate complaints of all these 'negative' people who 'give off bad vibes'. We're actually trying to improve the game so everyone can enjoy and not just a select few.
Welcome to the Forums. The first place to stop is the Rules. It'll give you a good idea on not telling people to leave.
Second, Where do we go? What other life Simulation do you think we should play?
And What hate? If you heard someone crying would you scream at them to shut up and leave because they're making you feel uncomfortable?
You must miss a lot of the nice topics, the love topics, the happy and joyful topics... And yet because some of us are not happy you want us to be quiet and go away?
That saddens me that you and a lot others can't hear us for what we are- sad and left out in the cold Simmers. Many for over a decade who feel ignored. Yes, there are some upset topics... skip them and go to your happy happy topics and please stop telling us to go away.

I would have thought that if you read these forums almost everyday like you say, then you would understand why people are so unhappy with this game and why people stick around Sims 4 and the forum. These things have been explained countless times on these forums, so being a frequent visitor, I would have hoped that most of your questions would have already been answered. Seeing this post makes me realize though that we probably need to be even more vocal about it
(Let me clarify though that hate-talk is absolutely never okay, especially if it is directed towards others. I know about the hate messages and threats other gurus have been getting and I think that's disgusting.)
I'm honestly not attaking the players who are voicing their opinions and speaking up for what they want. I think that's great and healthy even as every game needs a passionate fan base. I'm sure the team are very grateful for all of you sharing your thoughts, likes and dislikes.
What I despise reading is the real venomous, outright hatred and hostility towards the game and the game creators, it borders on bullying. I just don't see how that kind of feedback is helpful to anyone as surely it just creates more rifts between us and the Sims team.
Hi
Second, Where do we go? What other life Simulation do you think we should play?
Sims 1, 2 and 3 are still amazing games!
Oh, Thank you. You're so Sweet!
No new game for us (me and my pocket lint)... why should anyone else be considered but the Telemetry players. Thanks again.
Thank you. I know it's dripped in sarcasm, but I choose to take it as a compliment.
There is nothing wrong with the old games, they're great. I don't know why it's considered an insult around here to suggest games you may like since sims 4 doesn't have what you want.

They are (except I'd argue about TS3 lol) but why should TS4 only be reserved for people without complaints? Why can't we all enjoy the next iteration of the franchise? Why should we be left out like we already are? Why should EA/Maxis get away with spoiling a certain group of players while completely dismissing the rest of us?
