LOL! It reads like it was written by the EA/Maxis marketing department. I have no idea who the interviewer is or what credibility he and "Metro" hold in the UK but the entire article reminds me of one of the local "magazines" we have in my town where anybody who advertises a lot with them gets copy and written up as an "official" article one page over from their ad. Really, the same ol' stuff being spouted. I do love the whole- Who wants realism? That just ruins it! Oh and open world? That was terrible and just ruins the connection with the game!- Blah, blah and the "reporter" just parrots it all. Ha Ha Ha! Anyway, I still like the Sims 4 and it's still not shaping up to be as great as the Sims 3 and all the excuses in the world for missing elements won't change that. It's interesting to note, for anyone waiting for the Sims 5, that this game engine is ready to be built upon for a long time. Four more years? Maybe, but it sounds to me like they're planning for longer and that would make sense economically given the cost of developing a new game.

Sims 4 went from "You Rule" to "One of the stories we want you to tell"
I just don't understand what's going on behind the scenes. When the Sims 4 was still in development we were told by a guru that all of the life-stages would be included at launch. Then July 2014 comes around and we were told that pools and toddlers were removed due to a time constraint. When the pools arrived after the game's launch, a lot of us were like... "okay, so toddlers must be coming soon." Now here we are a whole year later and we are being told something else. Enough is enough. I think they need to just be honest with everyone and say if they are coming back or not. If I had to make a prediction based on this article, I would say that toddlers are not going to make their way into this game. Why? Look at 3 different answers we were given by EA & do the math. Nothing adds up.

So Rachel has engaged in yet another telling interview. This time really seeming to double down on her view, that players need to play the game the way Rachel wants them to play.
This isn't the Sims that I've come to love. This is the Rachel Franklin Sims game. Apparently those of us who are fans of open world, toddlers, create a world, and countless other things that don't fit Rachel's vision, either have to conform or go away.
You know, I've been so disgusted that I haven't touched the game for 3 weeks. I've gone back to TS3, I've played BioShock, I've actually read books, and I've survived just fine.
Below are my previous comments relating to the first Rachel Franklin interview:
I just read this quote from Rachel Franklin " It's really telling when you put together what people are saying they want with what they are actually doing in the game - it's sometimes quite different".
With all due respect Rachel, perhaps the reason for the disconnect is because you failed to give players the TOOLS to play the game the way they want to. For example, many of us are not focusing on families due the fact that a basic developmental life stage was omitted from this game. It doesn't mean that that we don't want to play families, or that we don't want toddlers, it just means that we weren't given the tools to have a rich family experience.
Similarly you can apply that to creative endeavors as well. For those who like to be able to edit the town or world, there is no outlet. So, you won't see players doing any of that because, again, there are no TOOLS to create a world, or edit a town. Drawing a conclusion that no one wants to do that is erroneous.
Perhaps players don't send their Sims traveling as much in this game. Well, it might have something to do with those infuriating loading screens, not that we prefer to keep our Sims living in solitary confinement.
Players can only play the game based on the capability of the game. When you restrict and manipulate game play by design, your interpretation of what players want will remain inaccurate and skewed.
This "tuning" you discuss, essentially means that from here on in players will play the Sims the way you think they should play.
I have no doubt that everyone will disagree with me. That's fine. I'm not looking for validation. I'm just expressing my opinion.

So of course the data is going to show that that life stage is not played with as much, especially if you are one who plays a sim through their entire lifetime!
RF: It’s been a contentious issue. But my feeling is that with the open world it’s harder to feel as connected with the town and your sims.

SMH at Rachel Franklin's BS response to the lack open world. A large majority of the fanbase has seen what Olympus was, and knows it's one of the hugest factors of the restrictiveness of TS4. Don't give us the bull that the open world was cut to "increase the relationship" between us and Sims. That could've been done just as well as an open world could, and more effectively, as we would actually see a constant, live layout of the town, rather than a white map with horrible illustrations all around lots.
What really matters above all though is the intelligence of the Sims, and well, even with a closed world, they're stupid, built around a broken trait system that is not integral to the gameplay, and were just designed so poorly in concept. So, no, the closed world has not been a beneficial factor in that area. The only benefit it brings is greater performance (and for the year 2015, an open world that performs perfectly fine is entirely possible, mind you, it was possible back in 2009 too), and access to those with low-end machines.

Hey, at least SOMEONE "gets" this mobile developer's vision for what was once the largest PC franchise. Being it has sold the LEAST amount of ALL of the Sims games, and has ruined the reputation of the game significantly, I'd say a lot of people don't "get" this vision, nor care to "get" it.

Nope, we're telling her if she has no respect for the game we love, she should leave before we loose it.
I'm not even going to go in on the toddlers thing. But the statements that were said about open world, not allowing us to create? Like what we have now is allowing more creativity? Am I missing something here? How are we feeling connected to the town and our sims in S4, exactly? It's showing where their priorities are. I know that OW was an option in S4, but to say things like that, to me makes no sense.
