@rosemow I tried deleting cache files but the repair button is not there, has that happened to you before?
Make sure you've fully exited the game. When you go to Origin > My Games and right-click on Sims 4, a list should appear with Repair Game in it.

Then try resetting your sims 4 folder and see if that helps. To do that, move your sims 4 folder to the desktop. Then start the game, and a new sims 4 folder will be generated. See if the black plumbob has gone. Exit the game. Then add back the "options.ini" file and the "saves" , "screenshots" "tray" "custom music " and "mods" folders to the new sims 4 folder, replacing the new generated file/ folders with the old file/folders.
might have to do with your graphics settings. when I first got the game i was playing with the graphics and it turned my sims into black silhouettes and the plumbob.
1. Move (not copy) Saves, Tray, Mods, Screenshots, and Custom Music folders and the Options.ini file to your desktop. Delete the Scratch subfolder from inside Saves.
2. Delete the rest of the The Sims 4 folder from your Documents > Electronic Arts folder.
3. Start the game, and exit the game. Now you have a fresh Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 4 folder.
4. Copy all the folders and the file back and start the game again.

removing that FileCache doesn't do anything, the game generates simply a new one
i would like to know though what causes that black plumbob, would my game run normally, which it currently just doesn't, then i would love to have the sims using that black plumbob, looks quite cool
so if someone knows how to get it intentionally, please post
i won't be participating in the forums & the gallery anymore - thanks EA
You can get it by going into your default file in you Sims 4 folder and editing that in notepad. Scroll a bit and then edit the bit that says 'plumbob' or'plumbob color' and change from green to black. Restart origin and the Sims and your plumbobs should be black!!!

Repairing the game may help. To do that, right click on the sims 4 picture in Origin and click repair.
Also, deleting your cache files may help

If the repair button is still not there, delete the origin cache files.
