Okay, so I've been playing The Sims 3 and the problem is as follows:
I've got 2 Sims (Alex and Abi), they're both Adults (I aged Abi up after I read a few things elswhere), and the bar that comes up when socialising is ful and both are 'Romantic Interests', but when I go to the 'Romantic' tab, the option of them becoming boyfriend and girlfriend isn't there. Alex and Abi are both on the same lot. They've also had a baby together. Next, Alex's teen daughter Kitty also has a 'Romantic Interest', and the same problem is there, except her one isn't on the lot, he's elsewhere. Any help?
Have you tried it from both sims? I had a similar problem with one sim, but his love interest could propose going steady. It wasn't how I wanted to play out, but I could not for the life of me figure out why my sim couldn't do the asking. Once they were going steady though, he could propose marriage.

Yes, I've tried it with both Sims, it just won't work, and I've tried with the teen as well
I assume you have spammed romantic interactions and the romantic tone is extremely irresistible? I tried resetting my sims, but that didn't help. One thing I did not try was to use testing cheats, or NRaas MasterController, to set their relationship score low, remove the romantic interest, and then max it again through friendly and romantic interactions. Maybe that would reset something. I would only try that after saving, and exit without saving if it doesn't work.
If you are really desperate and use mods NRaas MasterController with the Cheats module can set their relationship to steady. I prefer to do things in-game though.
Sorry I don't have any real suggestions. I was unable to fix my own problem and seems like I only lucked out that the other sim could do the propose steady option.
Okay... I didn't do the spamming, I didn't know that was possible, but I'll try it quite a bit later (1:36 a.m...), and if that doesn't work, I'll deal with it... Thanks
Well, what I meant was just queue up one romantic interaction after another. Supposedly that can help; it didn't in my case. But you do need to do repeated romantic interactions to get the conversation tone from flirty to very alluring to extremely irresistible.
You are on the console version? I've never played that. I've only played the PC version. If you are on the console version, disregard everything I suggested.
Just to be safe, are you positive neither of your sims have a boyfriend/girlfriend already? I got so frustrated because one of my sims couldn't go steady, but I'd completely forgotten that he already had a girlfriend.
