After playing this game for 6 months I can say that I'd rather have more content thsn open world at this point.

Also, a big concern for me: while in my house, with my family, Sims 4 uses 2.7 gb of ram out if the total 3.5 it can use for a 32 bit game. How would that ever work in an open world?

What Luke2153 stated- most people can't afford a high-end PC, and most won't pay thousands of dollars for a high-end PC just to play a Sims game. It might be easy for kids who don't have jobs and their mommies and daddies are fitting the bill to make their kids happy with expensive things. But those of us who do work we have our bills and house payments before we can even think about high-end electronics. I'm getting a high-end PC soon, but I'm going to be paying for it for 24 months. With our mortgage, car payment, utility bills, daily commute, and credit card payments my husband and I are paying around $4,500.00 a month and that's not including clothing, groceries, and other necessities. We just had to pay the IRS $1,500.00. Money doesn't grow on trees. It was a very wise decision for them to design a Sim's game to run on low and mid-end PCs that way it caters to everybody- not just those who are fortunate enough to buy high-end PCs and still have the money to upgrade hundreds of dollars into them every year just to play games.

Uhhh yes I do and my Sims 3 runs fairly smooth with expansion packs and store content. It wasn't an issue for me. You probably needed a more capable computer.

Fair enough you have a right to express your opinion of what you want in the game and have that respected, however others also have the right to state that they don't want it and have their opinion respected.

I'd prefer a more open neighbourhood eg not have a loading screen visiting a house next door, but on the whole I like the Sims 4 set up and the ability to travel from Oasis Spring to Willow Creek. I'm not sure how playable open world would be as more worlds/neighbourhoods are added.

I'd be happy with open neighborhood.

I thought SimGuruMax already said taking out the loading screens was impossible at this point. He's one of the engineers, he would know a lot better than some random CSR (who obviously didn't even know what you were referring to).

I just got done chatting with a specialist from EA. He said that the studio that's developing The Sims 4 is at work to re-open the world environment.

    Photo proof is as follows.

    Open%2BWorld%2BProof.png

The EA "specialists" will tell you whatever you want to hear. The guy is lying. Think about it, the Gurus who visit this forum are forbidden from talking about what they are working on and they are the ones actually making the game.

However, some guy in India has a green light to tell you all the upcoming features in EPs that haven't even been announced yet... :joy:

You should use that "proof" to barter a free game when it proves false. That'll teach EA to outsource cheap CSCs yet charge for games like they don't!

How do you know he's from India? O.o

LOL! It was discussed on another thread that EA outsourced from India. No worries, I wasn't stereotyping :relaxed:

    You're on to something..

They are probably going to remove those ugh backdrops and go with what TS2 had instead lol

At least in S2, we could create our own backdrops/environments that went with our themes/worlds. Not sure why you lol'd that concept.
At least in Sims 2 what you see in the distance fits with the map. Just the feeling my sim is in an actual town helps for me, I hate the fake backdrops that don't make sense.

Some people can't afford really expensive computers, because some people have a life outside the game.
Then live that life and stop playing the game. Hobbies cost.
By the way, I know two simmers who can't play the game anymore since the last patch. And I haven't been able to play it properly since the demo. I have no issues with Sims 3.

I really do not get this mentality that because some people cant afford better Pc's in which to play new games on, that somehow that's reason enough to not push forward with new technologies as far as games are concerned or anything really.

I cant afford the new Samsung TV's, you know the huge, smart and curved ones? Should I now beef at Samsung for making something that's not affordable for me? Or how about Sony. How dare they come out with a PS4 and make games for that console now. Don't they know there is a population of people that cant afford that? :o

You both have a point. I just think that EA should have upped the specs., for playing Sims 4 so that people who cannot afford an upgrade computer don't even have to consider buying it.

(Haven't read anything but the first two posts but my two cents)....I would not take anything a customer service representative (which is what your EA specialist likely is) to tell you anything with accuracy about development in the works. That's not their job. They (should) want to solve the problems you have with existing game issues, make you happy customer and get you off the phone to get to the next person in the queue.

I worked for several years as a music distribution customer service representative and we were explicitly told we could not discuss any projects in the works we may have "insider" knowledge of, until they had been officially announced to the public. Its a safe bet that's the case here too.
It's kind of sad that I have to point out that anything I say is only just my opinion and may be a different one from someone else.

You know, it's the way you put it ('some people have a life outside the game'). That implies there are other things you want to do with your money and if you do, than you most certainly must. I know a lot of kids who play the game on laptops (and now are having issues with Sims 4 like I said). I have a fine computer and I'm having issues with Sims 4. We can't afford a new computer right now (and Sims 2 and 3 run fine on it so I'm not in a hurry), but that's a personal choice is what I say.

So it wasn't about 'if you're too poor to play the game then too bad', but if you choose to do other things with your money in that other life (everybody here has another life outside Sims) then don't complain about it.

Edit: sorry, you didn't say that, Luke did. So where I said 'you', replace that by 'he'. But fact is if we can't afford everything we want in life (and I'm most certainly not rich myself) then you have to choose.

:o Me? I didn't say that but I do agree with you.

I have a good PC and I do upgrade it pretty consistently to be able and play the games I like. The funny part is that I also have a life outside games, who would have thunk it! LOL

The ability to afford a good PC or not to play games is irrespective of people having a life. Most do. LOL

I would probably buy the game if they open the world and bring back toddlers. I can live with the other issues if those two things are brought back.

If they can't open the whole world they should at least try to open it so we can visit neighboring buildings without load screens.

That would be nice, and definitely the way I wish the game engine had been designed. But I don't even know if it's possible :'(

What does new environment mean?
    Any examples? Thanks'

    SimGuruBChick response:

'Hey Senbre, this refers to the locations specific to the new Active Careers, the Hospital, the Police Station and the Science Lab. These are locations that exist within the current worlds. However, we do have that new neighborhood, Magnolia Promenade, where you can explore your new retail businesses. Hope that makes sense.'

Obviously, the "opening the world environment" is the same as "integrates new environments" - the op is really reaching here, going on blind faith and wishful thinking.
