The stores are just not making enough money off of the pc games anymore. So they're forced to ditch them, even Best Buy is having to ditch their pc game section. The Best Buy near me pretty much doesn't have a pc game section anymore. They do get in some Sims games and some other big name pc games, and that's it. The only place that I have found that still has a very large selection of pc games anymore is a used book store called Half Price Books. And that's because they sell not only used books and magazines, but also used video games, comic books, vinyl records, CD's and movies too. So if anyone is looking for an old copy of any Sims game. I suggest trying looking at stores that sell used books and more.
Those aren't cheap. You pay 20% over the price to use them. If you were buying these every month or whatever that's a pretty steep premium.
I'm sorry but I feel there should be compassion for people with these issues. It costs nothing to be understanding even if you disagree with what's being said.
Some people simply cant see beyond their own spoiled, entitled existence I'm sorry to say.
Sad isn't it.
I don't know what you are trying to imply, but that was awfully rude.
I'm not implying anything. I flat out said that some people can't see beyond their own spoiled existence. It's right there in black and white.
And it's not rude. Its simply how it is nd sparklefairy is right, others should at least spare a thought or a little compassion for those not in a privileged situation.
You don't think telling people to "get faster internet" when its beyond their control isn't rude? Or, telling them to "borrow money" off other people isn't rude? Or how about "too bad if you're behind the times, us people with fast internet want EA to get with the times" ? Or perhaps "grow up and stop crying" ?
You have a very selective definition of what is rude and what isn't.
If someone was not in a privileged situation, then they should not be focusing or spending the extra money on a game that they don't need. It may be a want that they can get in the future, but they don't need it at release. This game in no way is a need. If you can't get it, it is not affecting your existence, I am sorry if I sound insensitive but it is how I feel, sometimes there are better and more valuable things ot spend your money on.
To address the issue with faster internet, if they has Sims 4, then they would need internet to even download it in the first place, it is not like internet ins't available in many different places for free, libraries, coffee shops, mall's, airports etc.
Calling someones spoiled and living in their "entitles existence" is very rude to say, saying that the way people feel about things and labeling them as spoiled is rude, as someone who has heard from family what it is like to deal with money problems, I know the value of a dollar and I am sure other people do to and calling people spoiled for voicing what they feel in regards to spending their money on a game pack for a video game is really not needed.
I am sorry if I am coming across as snarky and rude, I don't intend it to sound like this
@natashified I'm sorry but I respectfully disagree. I've learnt through getting to know people here that a lot of fans may have issues where they can't fully enjoy a normal life. Perhaps they are sick with a short term ailment, or disabled for one reason or another, lonely, or just in a tough spot in whichever way.
I think it's easy to assume that things should work a certain way in life but after hearing how important the sims has become to some people who maybe can't participate in normal life but the sims gives them an 'escape' from pain, unhappiness, loneliness etc it becomes more than 'just a game' that if people don't want or can't afford to pay a premium for 'they don't need it'. It is a lifeline to many that I think if you aren't in this position we don't really even consider.
Maybe the sims offers them a chance to feel 'normal' (whatever that means!) in that they can socialise and share with people who appreciate something they love and it gives them a chance to be known just as a sims fan rather than being judged on their circumstances in life.
If it improves someone's quality of life I'm all for it. Go sims!
If a game store is ditching their pc game section. It's likely because they're not making enough profit off of that section to keep it. When I walk into a game store. I see more people buying a console copy of a game than I do a pc version. It has been like this for a while now in the game stores. Some game stores that I walk into don't even have a pc game section anymore.
I had to go out today and I decided to stop in to Walmarket to see what's up. The PC section is non-existant, (but it was never very big) There was no sims 3 stuff left and there wasn't any sims 4 there either.
There is a Walmart near me that has a pc game section similar to the one that you have described. Except the one near me still has a few and I do mean a few Sims 3 pc games left, and some Sims 4 left too. But not many at all in the way of the pc games period. They use to get those hidden objects and match 3 pc games in every week. And now when I go there, I see the same old stuff still sitting there on the self. Even the hidden objects and match 3 games are like that. It's sad if you ask me.
Yep. I didn't even see a tag on the shelf for where sims 4 might be. There was aisles for the console games. but the 4 foot PC section was basically in a state of demise.
I have no interest in consoles. I guess I am a dinosaur and will be extinct soon. lol
We can be dinosaurs together! I've owned consoles but none have ever really provided much entertainment for me. I'm not interested in most console games so they aren't essential. I'd love if that changed in the future but for now il pass

I noticed you conveniently managed not to address anything else in my post.
Frankly, you haven't come across as snarky, you have come across as extremely insensitive, along with a few others in this thread, and probably illustrate my initial remarks quite well actually.
That said, there's been enough carry on in this thread without my adding to it further, and clearly I'd be more productive beating my head against a brick wall, so I'll bow out now.

I'm a little sad too. I started my TS3 collection in August only with the physical copies (i can close Origin after start the game, i can't do this with the Digital Copy) and i bought TS4 in September (sad about it too. haha). By the way, i won't buy this because the base game is so incomplete and empty. I prefer complete my TS3 collection. I have WA, High End, Ambitions, Fast Lane, LN, Outdoor Living and Pets bought with a cheaper price. Very happy about this.
OMG you need seasons, you are missing seasons!! You need all the expansions, but seasons is the best.

I have just read an article about Outdoor Retreat. I was disappointed because it will only be available for digital downloads and there will be no physical copies. What are your opinions about the new informations provided? I was really disappointed because I only buy physical copies because I'm not interested in getting PayPal accounts or something like that.
I was wondering. This follows suit with nearly everything that has preceded it. In my opinion this is a marginal game at best, and EA is an increasingly pathetic electronic game manufacturer ---- bent on making sure their priorities are ensured first. I was already pulling away from this lame excuse for a game and such an announcement only confirms that move as being a good one.
This game hasn't captured my attention enough to care. If the rest of this series is all DLC then I'll play the base game until I've done it all and then move on.
I will compare this DLC to the Store of TS3 and remember what a pain it was- how it would always mess up- how it disappeared more half the time. The more Store installed the more things slowed and disappeared. I don't feel like going through that again.
*And I used to love having a reason to get out of the house- besides work and family- Shopping for a new game was fun, now it's not- it's download. Still have to wait for the release date and who gets to save money? EA. Lmao!
urgh, means us UK folks cant get a better deal on amazon. I bought a CD copy on amazon of the sims4 for £29, can't believe its being sold online for £59.... thats $90 for you american folks o.o
also I read online that it will cost $20... but £20 for UK ... EA seems to have their conversion rates bit off.
I would prefer to have it on disc as I have very limited internet access where I live, I can only get wireless wifi 20 gig per month and if I go that it costs a lot....I've had some months where I've paid $400 just for internet for going over my 20 gig.
It doesn't surprise me but it makes me sad physical copies are becoming less popular. I switched to digital a little over a yr ago so it's not that big of a deal to me. I'm sorry for all of the people who will be forced into digital or for whatever reason not be able to purchase it digitally.
Well Game Packs are replacing the store, and the store was online only. Makes sense to me
But I could download and save a sims3pack to my external hard-drive ... so once it was downloaded I need never worry about using my broadband again on it
With this system if I need to get anything again I have to use my broadband to get it all , that'll please my provider no doubt
What is broadband? Is that your name for cable internet?
Yes
I just noticed the last part of your post. What do you mean by "that'll please my provider no doubt"?
I'm online all day, the only way I please them is by paying the bill, which is the same every month, no matter how long I'm on; and we have multiple computers online all day everyday, we rarely go offline.
So I don't understand why it would "please your provider" by being online. Please explain.
At the moment I have unlimited broadband , meaning I can go on any time of day or night and theres no cap on how much I use ... but I have heard that the providers of broadband are considering putting a cap on how much you can use every month , if you go over their cap they charge you extra dependant on how much you go over
My old broadband provider used to do that and its one reason I left them
Im in the lucky position of being able to buy the things I want myself if I save for them , but the constant sniping at those less privileged on this forum whether about their internet speeds or lack of money or their youth (not having the ability to buy for themselves online) is just plain disgusting imo
Wheres the empathy for a fellow human beings problem , being sympathetic on a forum costs nothing ... That problem may not seem huge to you but to that person you are sniping at it could be a major thing
Im severly sociophobic
In the last 15 years I have left my home exactly 12 times , each time was extremely traumatic for me to the point where for days beforehand im actually considering suicide rather than going outside and being amongst strangers
The sims for me is not only entertainment , its a release from an exceedingly dull existance , you try keeping yourself entertained 24/7 within the same four walls while having no-one else to interact with for years and years on end ... books , games and movies are my freedom ... my dogs are my angels , without them id have given up long ago
Seriously , many , many gamers are not simply people who play just for fun ... for some of us its a way of keeping our sanity
Im severly sociophobic

Sending you my support and love @simmese I'm glad you felt comfortable enough to share but I'm sad you felt you had to.

The Walmart in my area is still selling Pc Games and a lot of them but I still prefer to buy my games at Gamestop while it's selling pc games. Lots of Gamestop's are no longer doing pc games but the one in my area still is. Even when they stop I wonder if I can still preorder sim titles.
I switched to digital- use to be a sims collector myself, but the pain of finding all of them (moving too much has caused me to even lose some games.. somewhere..) when I needed to reinstall was too much. I do have fond memories of in-store game shopping, but all the stores around me don't really carry PC games anymore. I have learned a lot about the troubles people may have with digital downloads only, and I really feel for people like that. I hope everyone is able to find a suitable solution- I use credit card, but EA cash sounds like a good way, and perhaps if enough people request it, they will begin selling it in different locations other than the US to assist in people everywhere having access.
But, DLC is well.. DLC. It's not an expansion, where I could really understand people having troubles with it being only digital, and I don't think they'll do that (quite yet). DLC is always online, it's kind of the definition. At least I've never, ever seen DLC sold anywhere but online- sorry if I'm wrong about this, don't jump me if I am. So what I really think the issue is, is that the new "game packs" are DLC, not that DLC is online only.

That's probably because the Walmart that you are referring to cat is in a much larger town with a much larger population base. The larger the town, the larger the population, and the larger the profit margin is for stores who still have pc games on their shelves.

Oddly enough, even though seasons annoy me, I do miss it in the sims 4. Still my fave Ep of all is open for business! I miss that a lot.
