I was disappointed to be honest. We needed diving boards and lounge chairs.

I like the pools. You can still chat and have romantic interactions, can do a lot building them, etc....I didn't expect everything as you had to wait before get more stuff. Like a lot of pool stuff in Sims 3 didn't come until around Seasons or Island Adventure. Yeah it would be nice to have more; but I wasn't expecting to get everything at once or even included in the base game or for free.

Chat and romantic animation yeah... but same animations for bed, couch, etc. Nothing new.

At least you can do it in pools. What do people expect? I swear, all people do here is complain over every little thing since before was even released (throwing fits over pools if I recall). Nothing pleases anyone here.

We at least got pools now which is a start and can build relationships and skills and have a new death.

Ummm excuse you, no one is complaining. I for one am just over getting something that's been recycled for years.

I thought it would be smart to have a new social event along with pools(that should have been in the base game)...

And you obviously didn't read my OP saying I'm grAteful for the patch.

I swear all people do here is jump to conclusions.

Just makes the mind boggles, people are complaining about some thing we are getting for free! Be grateful for what you have got!

The awkward moment when The Sims 4 has more pool options and interactions than any other base game.

And yet people expect more. Smh.

Yay! I should throw money at EA and be thankful for whatever their pleased to give us. Half-heartly or not. I really do wish I could pay for this game and be OK with half-plum job they gave us. I really do wish that.
Nothing to see. I don't even care about the forums.

That's right. I expect a lot from a 4th generation game that's done it all basically.

In sims 3 the pools were a bother to me, as my sim kept going in it instead of doing anything else, leave them alone for a minute, and guess what they are in the pool! Really annoyed me. So I was not all for pools to begin with. Now I have been playing them in TS4 and they have much more than in TS3 in my opinion. They have actions that can be done from the side of the pool, all you could do in the other games was sit in the lounge chairs, and as I said my sims did not do that they stayed in the pool. I finally had to take all the pools out of my TS3 game as they were just a bother. This game seems to have more animations and it seems they are not in the pools so much they do other things also. I have made pools very easily and they work well, so for me this is an improvement. I am sorry that some of you are disappointed, but, this is a base game. So with the other sims games there were not this many interactions with the pool. As I said I was bored with them in the other games and will most likely get tired of them in this one, but at least there is something to do around the pool. Oh! and just like in real life, there is a neighbor kid who keeps coming around to go in the pool! L:OL

I am not disappointed. We were promised pools and we got pools. We fully expected swimwear to come with, and so it did. We also got the pool ladder, some decoration for the bottom of the pools and pool lights.

We can change the colors of the walls of the pool as well as the floor. I am happy with that.
We can change the depth of the pool. Ok, not my thing but it is a thing nonetheless.
The sides of the pool can be raised with the foundation or it can be installed flush with the ground. Nice options.
There are options for angled corners of the pools, nice to have from the get-go.
I like that sims aren't insatiably drawn to swim all the time. I like the swim laps option, don't know why I do, but I do.
I like that sims can sit on the edge and interact with swimmers.

So am I disappointed? No, but neither am I excited or impressed. I am not blown away. These are pools. Basic. I am glad they are in and I look forward to what will come for them.
I look forward to rounded corners, pool slides, diving boards, pool toys and floaties, games to play in the pool, a built in bar, dive styles and swim styles, more swimwear, more interactions, more decorative options, just more.

I agree 100%. I was expecting at least a new lot type and lounge chairs. Those were the only two extra things I was expecting with the update. I guess I expected that because sims 3 had them. Who wants to bet the extra things will be added into a "pool fun" expansion pack? Now whenever I make a public pool lot I have to make it into a park in order for sims of all ages to visit the lot. The generic lot type doesn't even bring visitors. They pretty much just added the minimum. You'd think a new lot type would be a no brainer. I guess I've learned to not expect too much. Next month there will be all this hype for a career patch and they'll probably add one career. yay...?

I think that's too much of expectations from a free patch. I understand that people that work on content need to be paid - and I'm willing to pay for extra because nobody works for free; I don't work for free - why others should?

Nobody promised us pools when we were buying Sims4 - but we got them and moreover we got them for free. You need to understand that people worked on this feature - but didn't get paid. It doesn't matter that the patch didn't have all these extras that you mentioned - people spend a lot of work with no reward at all. Imagine you working the whole month but at the end when you done with your work all happy and proud about it - your employer didn't pay you and moreover told you that during that month you could do a lot more and yes - for free of course. How would you feel?
The developers get paid no matter what. They're hired by EA, which means they still get paid a salary even when working on free content. I don't think you realize how the whole "hiring employees" thing works.

I'm personally happy with the pools. We have been given a lot more than we did with previous base games. They can chat while swimming, sit on the edge, splash each other, there's different tools and edges and you can change the colour of the tiles. This is the most we've ever had already. Diving boards and slides will probably come in future EPS which I don't mind because it happened in TS3 too.

I'm not over the moon wetting my pants but I appreciate we were given it free in a patch and I am enjoying the new interactions (even though mines in code :'( ) they could of charged us but they didn't. Yay!

I am happy with the pools and the extras that came with them. IMHO They didn't HAVE to GIVE us anything! EA as a company relies on money to run, um hello that is why they make games. I am thankful they did add these thing free in a patch.
Patches are designed to fix bugs/glitches in our game not deliver content to the game. That they put content in a patch is great but you are wanting more in a patch than is reasonable. I personally would have preferred them to have given us the free content in DLC and not interfere with what a patch is supposed to do. That way when issues come up after patching it is easier to pinpoint what caused the issues. The patch or the DLC Pools.

We are not entitled to anything just because we play the sims. What they do GIVE us is very welcome and I am Thankful for! :)
They are at least trying to make some people happy and working with us as much as the higher ups allow them to. The Guru/Devs have to answer to people higher up that have their own Ideas where this game will go and what this game will have. Guru/Devs just try and get us what we want! I Thank them for that. Great Job Devs/Guru's! :D

i'm happy that they acknowledged how some simmers wanted pools in their game and added them. i think it's a good move from ea so i'm not gonna complain. i think the pools are okay and the interactions are decent.

I've already expressed my disappointment with pools elsewhere. I know there's a lot of hype about being able to interact with them in new and exciting ways, but how is snuggling, sitting, and making out poolside any different from snuggling, sitting, and making out on a couch?

And while in the pool, you have two options. Swim here, or swim around. Exempting the obvious fact that yes, it is done in water, it's still essentially the same as 'walk here' and 'go jogging'. The only truly 'new' option for pools is that you can splash people. And that's really not something I'm going to get worked up about.

Someone else tried to retort that I was wrong, and that they were extra amazing because you can resize them. Yeah? And? I've got that feature for fountains as well. And rooms. And decks. It is an innovative feature yes, but it's not a new one. And trying to say that swimming styles change with emotions is moot point when emotions are hopelessly unpolished.

But you can't say they lied though. They told us we were getting pools, and we got pools. :/

I'm not disappointed because I really didn't expect much and this was a completely free patch. Pools have never been anything special besides maybe with the Island Paradise stuff (mermaids, pool bar, waterfall, etc) so they've never been entertaining in a base game to me.
I really hope they add onto them in future patches or EPs so that they aren't pointless. I'm glad they put effort into putting them in, though. They're a necessary part of the game, and hopefully it pleased people who can enjoy them as is.

No they're perfectly adequate for a base game.

I am in deep ecstasy over pools.

They have the most powerful build tools imaginable and there's a lot more of natural socialisation going on. They surpassed my expectations.

A lot of people expected features that usually come with Seasons. I never did. I am sure diving boards, floats, sliders and perhaps pool bars will come later.

I'm disappointed in the animations, the swimming looks like leap frog to me. If they are energized, the animation is hard and fast. Big whoop. I think there should be a swimming skill and as they grow in levels the animations changes, and if the sim is higher in athletics then they should be able to dive in the pool instead of splash in. The build is nice, easy to make shapes but actually using the pools is a big let down.

I will admit that having my swim in it everyday has helped her get in shape, I hadn't played my sim in a sim week and when I got to her house, she had gained lots of weight. Now she is fit and trim. :)

Yes. Especially when my babies grow up to be chubby kids, justtoss them in the pool and their pounds melt away lol.

Actually kids to not get fit from swimming - they just increase their motor skill. Teens and up get the fitness skill for pools. It has always been that way, and still is.

Keep in mind this was created by the same team that brought us HILARIOUS FLOP that was the sims 4. I am surprised they even manage to make any kind of animation.

Was expecting the sim to just vanish into thin air and have a textbox appear:
Your sim is currently swimming (but you can't see it because we were too much of a fail to actually make it).

And the same team that gave us Sims 2 and Sims 3. Even a few from Sims 1. Guess you have never like the sims - huh? Or are you just an expert on being a flop?

As grateful I am about receiving pools in a patch, I'm scratching my head over certain aspects. I hate to be labeled as someone who's never satisfied..but like why didn't we get a new social event--Pool Parties.
Seems like it would be simple.
    Goals:
    Make a bbq meal
    Have 3 Sims become playful
Have 3 Sims swim at the same time
    Splash a Sim
    Dip feet in the pool
Have a drink by the pool

Rewards...this would of been nice to give us new items
Bronze - A lame Book about the effects of chlorine (lol)
Silver - A "Kiss the Cook" apron in CAS
Gold - An ice cream or snow cone machine

Ehhhh also since this is THE SIMS 4 after all, I was really hoping for some BRAND NEW interactions. Not interactions we can already do on the couch, or by sitting on the bed.

Throw Sim in the Pool (mischief)
Pass Gas in pool (which causes bubbles around the sim and grosses out nearby sims swimming)(mischief)
    Skinny Dip
    Woohoo
    Underwater Kiss
    Play Marco Polo
    Play Chicken

And why didn't we get lounge chairs and have the option to lay out in the chair or lay out by the pool?

    Scratches head again.

They had two extra months to release something that was suppose to be in the game on day one....ANNNND they still couldn't get it right! LMAO! FLOP 4 HILARITY.
