CC FREE - The ultimate in 1920s luxury inspired by the Gatsby mansion, the Art Deco period, and the great estates of the Gilded Age. A beachfront property with 6 bedroom suites, formal and casual dining, Grand Ballroom, gaming parlor, library, indoor pool/spa , bowling alley, private movie theater, gym, Grand Parlor (living room) and outdoor entertainment areas so you can party like it's 1929.
Emmy is a free spirit and an artist way ahead of her time, as a child Emmy always wanted to be an artist but women in the early 1900s weren't accepted or taken seriously. Never accepting the rules she began painting in secret until she was old enough to move to Roaring Heights in hopes of breaking tradition and showing the world her art. Can she succeed and change the future?
Well I did create a world for my TOT challenges called Sandsteps Isle- although it's an island and by Roman gen 2 they're growing out of it. No school, nothing unnecessary, just a rabbit hole grocer, and a few lots that can be opened up later (set to 'no visitors'), like a beach and a community orchard, with a nectar-maker in the basement of a small out building.
The island was made before Island Adventures came out, so there's no sea lots, but plenty of ocean space if you want to make your own dive lots. There's actually two lots I didn't have the heart to delete although I couldn't get them to work properly- there was supposed to be a dive well to connect them. The Pharoh's Livery links to Maurader's Wharf, where the supposed first settlers of the island lost their ships to the reef. If you do have Islans Adventures, you don't need the WA dive wells anyways. I also left those lots in as they are very close to being finished and have some great spawners on them for the sims to find.
The entire island is 'furnished' so to speak, with trees, spawned fish, rocks, bugs, etc, and I tried to have as few roads as possible to keep sims from using cars in the challenge (I should've made it with no roads, now that I know how difficult the TOT- Test of Time- challenge is to play in Sims3. That challenge was originally designed for use in TS2, and now I know why. But I digress).
The island is on the exchange here (also- there are no sims populating it, it is a blank slate world with one style of home lot, literally for neanderthals to garden and fish!) You can also change existing blank lots if you need to, just keep in mind that several are set to give your sims the 'beutiful vista' moodlet.

I didn't use any custom patterns, just changed the colors of EA ones that came with the game. No CC or store items where used either, just recolored the make up that came with the game so he wouldn't look so blah.
I just started playing with the Goth family. So strange because it was the first family I wanted to play with for Sims 1 & 2. Gunther just had a birthday & became a elder. I felt he was in dire need of a make over (Especially since he wanted to run around in just his underwear all day.) So I thought I would share him with you all.

This build is based on the lovely Victorian that appears in the movie Practical Magic. I studied speculative floor plans, still images from the movie, and behind-the-scenes set pictures, and tried to reproduce everything as faithfully as I could, paying special attention to the parts of the house that made me fall in love with it in the first place - the spacious yet cosy kitchen, the windy staircases, the beautiful gardens, and the homely, cluttered feel throughout.
I decided on 10 Porthilly View, Barnacle Bay, as the best location for this build. Because of the orientation of this lot, I actually ended up flipping everything around, to create a mirror image of the house I intended to build. The views of the sea are just so much better this way. I also had to simplify the tower a lot because I ran out of levels to use!
Many thanks to all my friends, who were so patient with and supportive of me while I was trying to get this ambitious project completed. I especially want to thank Joolster, whose suggestions helped me get past my first difficulty, and TarynTempestwind, who helped me overcome my last.
The house retains many of its original period features, and has an eclectic mix of furnishings, to suggest pieces that have passed down through the generations. All appliances and plumbing are fully upgraded. The house features a parlor, large kitchen with breakfast nook and butler's pantry, greenhouse, alchemy room (which can easily be converted into a formal dining room if desired), two double bedrooms, two twin bedrooms (both large enough for further beds if desired), two bathrooms (one en suite to the master bedroom, one shared). All of the rooms on the first and second floors have higher ceilings than usual, to help create the feeling of a period home. Outside, you'll find a perfect quality alchemy garden, a treehouse, and four seating areas.
I removed all spawners before uploading, but the alchemy stations tend to make more appear, so you may want to check in buydebug mode for them if you don't want them, especially if you have rotated the lot to place it. The house costs 196,663 and is CC free.
CAP Patterns: None
Lot Size: 40x40
Here is the front view of the house.
Walking in the main front door, you'll see the main staircase. I'm sorry if it's a little hard to make out. The room is well-lit but the wood is just so dark.
And this is the view of the front door from the stairs.
Off to the right is the parlor, one of the house's two main indoor family areas. There is a piano, a charades table, a desk, fireplace, bookcase, various ornaments and paintings, and plenty of seating. The chairs and sofa don't clash but clearly weren't bought together. Some of them look a little warn. Candles and lamps create soft lighting.
In case you couldn't see it in the other pictures, there is also sectional seating underneath the bay window. It is usable.
A little passageway from the parlor is one of the ways into the heart of the home, its large period kitchen. I am so pleased with how this room came out - I hope you like it too! There is lots of clutter but still plenty of usable counter space. The bench is where sims will usually go to eat if you don't drag their food elsewhere. The Japanese grill is meant to be a kind of AGA - it's a shame we don't have anything more like that in the game.
Off to the left, one door leads into the greenhouse and another directly out into the garden.
Beyond the counters, there is an airy breakfast nook for lazy Sunday mornings.
Apart from a sink, gem-cutter, and perfect quality flame fruit bush, the greenhouse is mostly decorative because I wanted to make it look as much as possible like the one in the movie. You can delete some of the counters to make more room for plants if you want a winter garden.
The greenhouse doors open onto a small patio, overlooked by a children's treehouse.
Beyond that is a shaded seating area where sims can sit and look out at the ocean.
A path leads round to the harvestable garden, with perfect-quality alchemy ingredients, a few perfect-quality fruits & vegetables (I chose the ingredients for my sim's favourite meals), two bee boxes with perfect quality honey, and a rocking chair. There is a sprinkler system to cut down your work, but the garden still requires quite a bit of maintenance.
There are lots of ways back into the house, but let's go back in through the greenhouse so we can pick up where we left off. Back in the kitchen, you'll see some windy stairs leading up to the second floor. These are routable, but for some reason sims will always use the main stairs at the front of the house.
Tucked away opposite those stairs, you'll find the butler's pantry. It's mostly clutter in here. Gillian and her children prepare a spell at the table in the movie, so I focused on alchemy-themed bits and pieces.
On past the pantry is the alchemy room. I imagine this used to be a formal dining room, and you could turn it back into one just be deleting some clutter and adding chairs. In the movie, it's serving as a sewing room, but since we don't have anything like I decided to use it emphasise the supernatural aspects of the family.
As you can maybe see from the last picture, the other archway from the alchemy room takes us back to the main entrance, with the parlor straight ahead. So now we can head upstairs and take a look at the bedrooms. Turning left at the top of the stairs takes us to a door to a spare bedroom. This wasn't in the floor plans I saw, and doesn't appear in the movie, but I had space so here it is. Maybe it could be Gillian's room when she moves back in. It's a bit less cluttered than some of the other rooms, as I imagine most spare rooms are.
Opposite the spare bedroom is a shared family bathroom, and beyond that, opposite the main stairs, the aunt's bedroom. It doesn't appear in the movie but it must be there.
The last rooms on the second floor are Sally's bedroom and bathroom. The bedroom has its own fireplace and little balcony, and is another one of the things I always loved about the house in the movie.
Here is how Sally's room looks from outside of the house.
Outside Sally's room, there's a ladder leading up to the attic. This is the room where unfortunately I was least faithful to the movie. The attic in the movie is this expansive space full of nooks and crannies, with sloping ceilings, exposed beams, and a gorgeous spiral staircase winding up to the roof. But, restricted by choices I had to make to get the rest of the house as I wanted, I just wasn't able to replicate all that. Still, I think it looks nice. There are two single beds, some seats, a bookcase, and rocking horse. Adding more toys would make this a lovely bedroom for children. Round the corner, not shown in these pictures, is a ladder leading up to the tower, which then takes you out onto the roof.
That's most of the details shown, so I'll end by sharing some exterior pictures of the house from other angles.
