Yeah I just wished for something different. This is all stuff I feel like I already have but the community seems to be voting for more "basic", "modern", "pretty" stuff and I'm more of an "eccentric", "weird" type of player.
I wish there was more stuff for people like me 'cause my game isn't about "the pretty house", "the beautiful family", "the perfect job". It's more about trying out different things I wouldn't do in real life.
    But I guess I'm a minority here.

    You're not alone.

This is kinda off topic, but i just bought the GTW pack so my sims can run their own retail shops. Any idea if we can sell our knitted goodies that way instead of the new online store?

You and me both. I've been saying we need more weird/different packs. It doesn't even have to be supernatural related. What about a theme park related pack with a world to go with it? What if they took Happy Haunts and made it into a game pack with an "abandoned" type world you can ghost hunt in/live in? I learned Sims 3 had a casino in a world that was like Oasis Springs, what if we had a Las Vegas type world with casinos and resorts? All of these with appropriate BB/CAS to go with it.

That's me as well. I have a feeling that we're a growing player base, though. Happy Haunts they said was a very close second place winner. Hopefully we'll see a Game Pack next year for it.

I am still sore that Happy Haunts didn't win..that was like the BEST and most interesting idea.

I do think knitting should have been part of a bigger hobby, Generations or arts & crafts pack. It honestly isn't a concept that needs its own Stuff Pack. I mean yeah, I know it won the vote. But that just meant that it was a popular choice and people wanted it, not that it needed to be a Stuff Pack. But at least it's more deserving of one than Bowling Stuff or MFPS. Which, eugh. Eugh.

    Eugh.

Still interested in it, though. It looks like it'll have more new and fresh content than the last 500 Expansion Packs lol.

Hopefully this growing base will have room in their hearts for dragons, too.

Even though I voted arts and crafts first happy haunts was a close second for me. I’d love if they went all in with that theme on a gamepack down the line. I feel like it would shine more as a bigger pack than a small stuff pack. Also this is coming from a fairly realistic trailer but gosh I loved the ghost hunter career in sims 3.

I think I want that one in a bigger pack. It sounds too awesome to contain into a tiny pack.

I'm not a fan of knitting. It's a girl thing, I'm not a girl, I'm a guy, I like guy things (the bowling pack is my favorite stuff pack). I also dislike the trailer for this pack, we finally get a guy to be the main protagonist of a pack and it's for something as emasculating as knitting, with the most cringy moment when his room got pastel vomited all over *. However I do think team Maxis has worked hard to make this pack worthwhile, with extra animations, objects, and cas items. Like it got the extra attention I would have liked Realm of Magic, Island Living, and Discover University to have had. The Nifty Knitting pack really seems to have everything in it you could and should expect from the theme: knitting. I'm actually inclined to buy the pack just for the few grandma's running around... shuffling around... (there's no elderly 'walk' in the game, is there?), uhm... soon to be rocking (in a chair that is) in my game to have something to do.

    * edit: I must have mentally blocked out that sweater he was wearing.

Guys can knit too. I taught my teen nephew how to knit. Girls like sports too like bowling. It was a girl *cough* me that started talking about her bowling experience with friends with SimGuruGraham on Twitch. But as a girl, I would like more outdoor activities too. I adore football and hockey and X-Games. Friend of mine was playing Dream Daddy too which brought back some Sims 1 nostalgia of how much fun it was to make our own mini golf. Volleyball was a ton of fun too. This takes me back to one of the first Twitch streams I attended on Graham's channel in which he thought I was a dude because I had fun talking about hockey with him. The main guy in the trailer is SimGuruNinja. He is a big fan of knitting.

I liked the trailer. It was positive, upbeat, and humorous. Kudos for featuring a male Sim instead of yet another female. I don't play elders so didn't notice that they were "missing" until the end of the trailer.

The knitting theme wasn't my first or second choice for this pack when voting started but it looks like they did a good job with it. I like some of the craftables. I'm not so sure about the clothing yet. The quality of the rocking chair was an interesting observation. I don't typically play with my camera zoomed in that close so I probably wouldn't have noticed the jagged edges.

A casino pack will lift the packs rating dramatically. Sims 3 was a different time where game companies did not ravish games with loot boxes and loot crates. Any sign of gambling these days makes game raters edgy.

Many do because it glorifies gambling. It is the same reason why you cannot just toss anything into a game because 'you do not lose it/happen in real life'. Teenagers cannot legally gamble, therefore adding gambling could lift the game rating to mature, which is counterproductive.

I am still sore that Happy Haunts didn't win..that was like the BEST and most interesting idea.

I love happy haunts but also I voted for arts and crafts for this
because I really didn't want to murder the HH by trying to fit it in stuff pack
it deserves to be full gamepack with all the options instead of stuff pack with just one feature

+ we have seen how people voted for knitting objects and discarded 90% of interesting items
so I'm sure happy haunts would have been murdered by community vote too
probably would have become ''barbie ghost adventures''

Who cares? Well, obviously some people do. Well, I don't. And IMHO other people shouldn't care, too.
All this influencer-thingamajig opinion voicing before the thing is even out on the table, and then saying it should be like it was in xyz... is somehow bad style.
Not saying they're totally wrong but we all know TS4 sales-strategy doesn't work like sims 2, or sims 3. Did i mention Sims 1? And it probably won't change. Not even when a YouTuber/Streamer/GameChanger rants about it, less if it's any other player. At least that's what 6 years of TS4 experience taught me.

And oh well, feed me 4 different "arts and crafts" SPs for 10 Bucks, at least then i can avoid having one of probably max 3 that i dislike in a 40 Bucks "Crafty Town" EP.

And the good Thing: You don't have to care about that opinion of mine, too. XD

SAME. Although I was rooting for the Grim Reaper career, ANY choice from Happy Haunts would've been amazing. Just the idea of a knitting pack puts me to sleep. Since they know there is a large interest in Happy Haunts, Im hoping they dedicate a good pack for it in the future. You can't just wave a Grim Reaper career in my face, take it away and expect me to forget about it.

Anyway, I dont know why people are surprised that the pack is very much leaning toward YA focus. I mean sheesh the theming and build/buy choices that ya'll picked out was a pretty clear indicator of what direction the pack was going. And since it was by majority vote, this just tells EA/Maxis yet again that catering to the YA audience is where the money lies. Simmers wanted Elder stuff, and yet voted for YA stuff. I would say that its ironic buuuuut....

    Its just not surprising.

They got a new bassinet in Realm Of Magic also, but I am also excited to be able to have them dressed in something besides those flimsy onesies.

I also don’t understand all the carrying on about the character in the trailer and it not being specifically an elder. Like, does that somehow now negate elders in your games from using the knitting craft? People of all ages and genders enjoy knitting as a hobby.

I love Plumbella, but I greatly disagree with her on this pack. I cannot wait to slap rocking chairs onto my porches, into my nurseries, and just many of my homes in general. The texture of most objects looks weird when the camera is right on top of them, once the camera panned back I thought the chair looked great. Plus they have specific interactions for both elders, who can reminisce, and toddlers who can play on them.

Plopsy in my opinion is a great addition to the game. It will make selling our craft items so much easier than those yard sale tables.

I also voted Happy Haunts first, but am hoping to see it in a GP instead so that we could get more of the elements they were speculating on rather than just one. Overall I am eager to get this pack because it will make a great addition to many of my saves.

I have not been excited for this pack since I heard it was about knitting. The trailer makes it look quite fun though.

I like it for the knitting and also for Plopsy -- I haven't done anything with the crafting from EL, and if we can sell things like candles on Plopsy I can definitely have a stay-at-home crafter.

The plopsy was the thing that stood out to me most. I think my sims will definitely be taking part in that.

    can we sell non-knitted things?

I have no idea. I hope so though. I'm not sure how many of my sims will be knitting sims. :D

I think you can sell anything your Sim makes that goes into personal inventory other than food), so paintings, woodworking sculptures, candles and such could be sold.

I agree, so what if they used an adult in the trailer. If they used an elder throughout, they’d be accused of stereotyping (Not by me, I really don’t focus on representation). I definitely don’t get YA vibes from someone with greying hair. That’s a middle-aged adult. Every age group was shown in this pack. There is something for all ages. Why would anyone say it’s another YA focused pack or trailer?

As for Plumbella’s reaction video, I normally like her stuff but I really don’t have a comment except I thought it was going to be way more negative than it was because I read this thread before watching her video. It wasn’t nearly the shade she is capable of throwing.
