Just out of curiosity, what are the ages of all the Simmers out there?

Almost in the last category -- I was in my 40s when I started playing the orignial The Sims. Since I was playing on a Mac (clamshell iBook for the first one, white iBook for the second) I played the Aspyr ports (which meant for Sims 2 I missed out on most of the SPs and the last two EPs). I've tried playing the Complete Collection on my current laptop but can't get over the horrid graphics and clunky performance.

Suffice it to say I have my state pension and free bus pass... started with Sims 1, stopped then got back into it at Sims 3 stage. Loving Sims 4 although I do have a few choice words to say about the devs when I encounter the several gameplay 'oddities' quite regularly... 'nuff said. Overall, they've done a good job so I shouldn't be too harsh on them...

I think a lot of times "oddities" are due to not remembering what is in other packs -- for example, if a dev was on the Seasons team but didn't remember about the San Myshuno festivals, maybe they didn't take those into account when designing San Myshuno weather. We've got so much content that even the developers can't always remember what is in an individual pack, especially if they didn't work on the pack in question.

Been playing computer/video games since the text-based "Adventure" game played on some IBM mainframe, using a terminal with a dial-up modem.
Got hooked into Sim-type games starting with the first SimCity which was in black and white.
Been playing Sims since the first version, but really got into it starting with Sims 2.

Still caught in a maze of twisty little passages, all different.

I think I'm going to show this thread to my mom the next time she says that it's time for me to outgrow video games, lol. Perhaps I should let her play, too! :D

I know a lot of people started playing this series since it came out nearly twenty years ago and would thus be much older now.

    Haha, thanks for that

I'm 32. Been playing since Livin' Large, back when PC games and software used to come in huge cardboard boxes. What was that all about?!?!

Anyway, I still play lots of video games. Sims and Final Fantasy have stuck with me through many years. I love video games and I'm not ashamed to admit it!

33 over here. I started playing just as the last EP came out for Sims 1. I didn't play Sims 1 long before moving onto Sims 2 but I've played ever since then. :)

    Late twenties here!

I discovered sims in 2005 when I was watching those emo videos on youtube. I then wanted to make my own emo sims

Started with The Sims when they came out to get me through a divorce. Amazing what you could do with the first game to unleash anger. Ha ha

I'm in late 30's and started with sims 1 but really got hooked with sims 2.
It is nice to see all ages are represented in the poll. I hope EA realizes the target group is not just teenage girls.

Now, I am doing this all in good fun when I say I am pleading the 5th. It's my humorous way of saying I am not going to answer. ;)
The fifth in plead the fifth comes from the Fifth Amendment to the United States Constitution, which, among other rights, protects citizens from self-incrimination. The text of the Fifth Amendment is very simple: “No person…shall be compelled in any criminal case to be a witness against himself.” This principle also underlies the Miranda rights, or “the right to remain silent.”

I'm 24, and have been playing since 2001. My older sister actually "kept" her friends copy of the game and that's how I ended up getting hooked. However when we got livin large I had to be VERY careful not to put a vibrating bed in my house or else my sister would tattle on me. LOL I still love the game but I feel as though I go through spurts of playtime/nonplaytime.

I started with The Sims just before TS2 came out. Started buying that on the day each game/expansion came out & have been doing that ever since. I shudder to think how much money I've poured into the game over the years.

Yip...there are definitely more adults playing the game and there are many male players, like myself, too. I'm glad I created this poll.

That's OK. You don't have to vote and I like your sense of humour. ;)

I know right? I was broke many times after buying expansion packs.

My story is pretty much the same as @Lollipop234 :D started simming in 2000 or shortly after but had to sneak around because my sister had the Livin' Large expansion and my parents didn't want to expose me to the Vibromatic Heart Bed that young!

LOL! I remember that object! I always move the camera away when my Sims are woohooing and my parents or younger brother are near.

I'm in my early 20s and fiddled around with TS1 before I even started at school. I don't think I figured out fully how to play it ever cos I played on my cousins' computer, but I loved it and have played from TS1-TS4 on and off since then.

I'm 21. My first Sims experience was Sims 2 on my PS2, I remember making my sims paint pictures of my butt using my eyetoy. :)
