Is There a Way to Keep a Sim's Spirit from Fading Away With No Urn?

Hey

My current sim's brother died of old age when I wasn't playing with his family, resulting in me not having the urn. (they were marked as "Played")

A little while later, I was playing when I saw this message:

Is there any way to find his grave, or even just to keep his spirit from fading away without it?
(Also my current sim died while I was playing in her daughter's household, and I'm afraid this will happen to her)

Ghosts in households (including non-active and NPC households) that live in the worlds will generate tombstones upon their death, including when you are not on the lot and they die. Ghosts/Tombstones now have their own culling timer as well, that when going below a threshold the tombstone gets a new interaction called 'Strengthen Connection to the Physical World' which resets the culling timer for that Sim. This way the user can control what dead Sims they want to keep around while letting others expire on their own. And when they expire they get sent to the netherworld and are culled... As long as they lived in a house you should be able to find their tombstone on their home lot... And if you can't find the tombstone on their home lot, possibly because the game couldn't find a good spot to place it, the fallback would be the family's Household Inventory." - @SimGuruNick

Try searching in the home where he died for the tombstone, or check the family’s household inventory .

I looked everywhere on the lot, in the Household inventory, in the individual sims' inventory, and I can't find the urn. I also looked for my other sim's urn on her lot, but because there is no one left living there because they were both elders and died, there's no household inventory to look through. I also checked my sim's daughter's household inventory, with no luck. Any other ideas?

Did the sim die before or after the recent patches that were released for the new ep? If it was before, then a tombstone may not have been generated .
If you have Get Together ep, you could go to a bar on Ghost Night ( Wednesday ) and see if your sims appear as ghosts there.

Hey @SimGuruNick. Why didn't you state that any sims who died prior to installing the patch won't have an urn? Afraid to hear all the complaining? Once again the developers have taken the cheap route. And if I have my Maximum Sim Count on Unlimited, why is this thoughtless act of coding still occurring? So basically any large family with sims dying on lots other than the one being played at any given time are now being removed from the game because you're so desperate to reduce everyone's sim count.

Choosing the unlimited option doesn’t stop culling in the game. It just means that there isn’t a limit on the number of households you can add to “my household” to protect.

So I am having the same issue and I don't know where this urn could be. I have a house that had several of my sims kids living in and four of them past. I got a notification that the oldest spirit was fading away so I went to the house hoping I could interact with her grave/urn. I found the three other urns but not hers. Checked the family inventory and everything.....I dont know where else it could be? Would it ever happen at a community lot?

This post is fairly old but I am desperate ! My sim family is quite large and the parents and grandparents are starting to die, even the family pets. I will switch between households to play the kids and then I will get a call about someone dying, so I will switch to the dead sims lot and there will be no urn or anything..I tried looking in clubs and parks but no urn in sight. I also tried the family inventory as stated above, but still nothing. One sim has already faded away and I don't want it to happen again! :( The family dog just died and I cant find his urn. Just confused because this has never happened before and it just now started happening.

It may be hard to test but perhaps one of your mods is causing the issue with tombstones not being generated. Make sure that you have the latest version of MCCC mod if you use that mod as well as the latest version of any other mod you use.

Repairing the game may also help. To do that, go to games library in Origin, right click on the sims 4 picture and click repair

Try deleting the cache files and see if that helps
