An Unwelcome Phone-call

Breakfast was par for the course as everyone grabbed a meal from the fridge instead of waiting for dinner to be served. So frankly anything new that was cooked just became extra left-overs for the sims to eat as they wished.
Screenshot.jpg And...Yasunobu and Susan took advantage of the shower. Woohoo at that age? They're going to give themselves a heart-attack.
Screenshot-2.jpg Kunio decided that he was going to be the first one to try the new teppanyaki grill and started a teppanyaki chicken. (Watcher: This lot is going to require a serious redesign...the kitchen area is too small.)
Screenshot-3.jpgScreenshot-4.jpgScreenshot-5.jpgScreenshot-6.jpg ...and Haruo decided that the kitchen was the best place in the world to practice his violin. ~facepalm~ I'm not even going to try to understand that. As per usual there was a logjam at the dishwasher. (Watcher: I told you the kitchen was too small...)
Screenshot-7.jpgScreenshot-8.jpg Unknown caller: (heavy breathing)
River: "Who the hell is this?"
Unknown Caller: "You know who I am...River. I'm your biggest fan..."
Screenshot-9.jpgScreenshot-10.jpg Unknown Caller: "Do you think about me late at night...when everyone else is asleep?"
River: "I don't know who the hell you think you are but this isn't funny."
Screenshot-11.jpg Unknown Caller: "Oh...I know where you are...and what house you live in...and I want to pay you a visit...when you're all alone...because I think about you all the time..."
River: "CONNOR!!! WHAT THE HELL!!!"
Screenshot-12.jpgScreenshot-13.jpg River: "Are you friggin' drinking again? Connor? Because if this is your idea of a crank-call, I'm not finding it amusing..."
Screenshot-14.jpg River: "Do you need my husband to come down there and pay a not-so-friendly visit?"
Connor Jolina-Frio: dead-silence
River: "Because I've just about had it with your crank-calling..."
Screenshot-15.jpg River: "Don't call here again...or I will have my husband come down and nuke your sorry ~insert nasty expletive of choice x 3~ until you're emitting a radioactive glow. Do you friggin' understand me, Connor!"
RiverGoesNuclear.jpg River: "GET LOST!!!"
Connor Jolina-Frio: ~dead silence~
River hangs up...
Screenshot-16.jpg Meanwhile, Master Manchu was finding his "happy place" in meditation, achieving transcendance and floating in mid-air.
Screenshot-17.jpg And Aidan still had homework from school to do...
Screenshot-18.jpgScreenshot-19.jpgScreenshot-20.jpg Well...he'd better get that done before he messes around on Facebook.

The Chikamori Household

Keeping A Roof Over Our Heads

The usual maniacal mornings where everyone had to get out of the house usually ensued around six in the morning but mornings usually started much earlier than that for the Chikamori household. Caitlin, River's half-sister usually got up at around four in the morning to brew herself a cup of coffee.
Screenshot-21.jpgScreenshot-22.jpgScreenshot-23.jpg After all, there was nothing like having a cup of java to pop one's eyes awake after a good night's sleep that still left you wanting to lounge around in bed. At least the caffeine caused one's blood-cells to go "holy cripes...and plumbobs, we'd better get our posteriors in gear."

And Shigeo usually found that there was a log-jam at the fridge in the morning. That's why the Chikamoris have two fridges on the go. One sim goes to one fridge, the other sim goes to the other. And hopefully they all won't have a fit because hopefully one won't get in the way of the other...(dryly) most times.
Screenshot-25.jpgScreenshot-27.jpgScreenshot-29.jpg Eventually everyone got their meals...and the house was vacated...by the sims that had to head for work.
Screenshot-31.jpgScreenshot-33.jpg Greta still hadn't figured out what her life's calling was and was trying to decide between business and going into politics. Of course knowing that the late mayor, Fiona McIrish-Chikamori used to be quite well-regarded, she figured that perhaps a Johansson-Chikamori would probably be well-received in the mayoral office, even though she'd have to work her way from the ground up. But she still had time to figure that out.
Screenshot-34.jpgScreenshot-35.jpg River and Haruo went to do their usual monetary-gathering tasks; Haruo to paint, River to sculpt. Perhaps she'll figure out how to achieve a masterpiece in sculpture, eventually, but right now, she's trying to sculpt every potential statue that she can get the knowledge to do.
Screenshot-37.jpgScreenshot-38.jpg Haruo decided to make some more teppanyaki chicken with the grill and well, since he is a Level 10 cooking skill, he managed to make it perfectly even though it was his first time utilizing said grill.
Screenshot-40.jpgScreenshot-41.jpg Of course mealtime rolled around again after the kids and everyone else got home from work and everyone sat down to eat. River came home from delivering a sculpture on commission and well, others made room at the table to eat.
Screenshot-42.jpgScreenshot-43.jpgScreenshot-44.jpg ...and of course River and Haruo made time for each other...in the course of their busy day, just to tell each other how much they loved each other.
Screenshot-45.jpg Of course there was laundry to do...and plants to pick.
Screenshot-46.jpgScreenshot-47.jpg ...stomach pangs of hunger to quell and gemstones to cut.
Screenshot-48.jpgScreenshot-49.jpgScreenshot-51.jpg ...a family to take care of...
Screenshot-53.jpgScreenshot-54.jpg ...and vicious rumors to squash...
Screenshot-55.jpgScreenshot-56.jpgScreenshot-57.jpgScreenshot-58.jpgScreenshot-59.jpg ...and illnesses to heal...before they infected the rest of the family. Such was life...
Screenshot-62.jpgScreenshot-63.jpg ...and periodically...
Screenshot-65.jpg ...one can find Abacadabra sitting on his rear in the bathroom staring at an empty shower. Whatever makes him happy...

Big Plans for Elsa; Aidan Gets His Heart Crushed.

One of the things that Haruo loved doing was to play the violin. Whether it was reels or violin concerti, he was always yanking out the violin and playing it, most often in the most inopportune locations, such as right in front of the house front door. Y'know, Haruo, other sims have to go to work.
Screenshot-66.jpgScreenshot-67.jpgScreenshot-68.jpg With so many sims in the household, laundry was a chore that took several sim-hours to complete. Poor River had to go from room to room and gather up all the laundry hampers full of clothing and dump them in the washer...then once the wash-cycle finished up, she ended up having to put them in the dryer. It was a repetitive process.
Screenshot-69.jpgScreenshot-70.jpg River knew that her husband cooked well...and the meals were delicious. And every so often he would change it up with a new dish and always, there were left-overs.
Screenshot-72.jpg ...and Brianna was getting unwanted date calls from a guy 40 years her senior who had managed to see her working at the school. Isn't this what is known as harassment?
Screenshot-75.jpgScreenshot-76.jpgScreenshot-77.jpg Greta and Elsa had a good conversation at the breakfast table one morning regarding Elsa's plans after Greta got married. Elsa was independent and wanted to move herself out so that Braden and Greta had privacy. Of course the whole family would come together if they decided that moving to a different community (world) was a viable option. It was the way of life. Once a child has reached a certain age and has gotten married, they make their own way in life and well, the parents have to let go.
Screenshot-79.jpgScreenshot-81.jpgScreenshot-83.jpg Masatoshi had his own plans about moving out of the family fold, but he would discuss that with Caitlin; he had too many things to think about and that would just make his meal unpalatable if he concentrated on it when he was eating.
Screenshot-85.jpgScreenshot-86.jpg River enjoyed a good rousing round of chess by herself as she raised her logic level.
Screenshot-87.jpgScreenshot-88.jpgScreenshot-89.jpg And Braden, Haruo and Brianna engaged each other in a game of pool.
Screenshot-90.jpgScreenshot-91.jpg As always there were lots of things to do. Aiden ended up in the flower garden where he talked to Alanna about things that were on his mind.
Aidan: "Look Alanna, I know that we've known each other for a long time..."
Alanna: "Yeah, we have...you're like a brother to me...Aidan."
Aidan: "I don't know how to make this easy, but I always found you to be really attractive..."
Alanna: "I don't think that's a great idea...Aidan...we're related. And in any case. As nice as you are, I'm just not that into you. You're a family member...and not someone that I see as a romantic interest."
Aidan: (silent, heart crushed).
Screenshot-92.jpgScreenshot-93.jpgScreenshot-96.jpg ...and that's the way romance goes. When she says that she's she's not that into you...., guys, she's NOT INTO YOU. Don't press the matter. Aidan would be crushed for a while, but well, he's young, he'll find the right girl for him... eventually.

Aidan Ages Up

After the heartbreak, Aidan had his birthday where he would end up aging up from teen to young adult.
Screenshot-97.jpg Staring at the birthday cake, he wondered what life had in store for him, since he couldn't have Alanna.
Screenshot-98.jpg He looked around at the rest of the family that he'd grown up with...and he saw, his heart painfully twinging, that it seemed as though life went on, par for the course, for Alanna, like her painful crushing of his heart pretty much hadn't really bothered her. In fact, Alanna had done him a favor in not beating around the bush, though Aidan hadn't realized it. Even though the pain was like a dagger through the heart, she had made it easier for him to move on from her - in letting him know that he would never be a candidate for winning her heart.
Screenshot-98.jpg Did he have a wish for when he blew out the candle, Aidan thought to himself, I don't even know what to wish for... as he leaned over the cake and finally just blew out the candles.
Screenshot-99.jpg Maybe not get my heart crushed again...he thought bitterly as he moved back away from the cake.
Screenshot-100.jpg He stared off into the distance contemplating what his life consisted off. He'd go to university, get a degree and put some distance between him and Alanna, maybe he might actually find someone at university that he could date. Who knows. Life had a way of doing the unexpected.
Screenshot-101.jpgScreenshot-102.jpg He looked away as Alanna cheered for his birthday. He didn't want to hear it. But couldn't resist a wistful look back. But that door was closed and he wasn't going to open it. He'd lick his wounds and be a man about it, even if it did hurt like hell.
Screenshot-104.jpgScreenshot-105.jpg When the transformation happened it took him by surprise, but he came out of that transformation a young adult and ready to take on the world. And even if he felt like his heart was in several pieces, he realized that he was ready to tackle what the adult world was ready to throw at him. He needed to get himself a job and start making some simoleons so that when he was ready to move out of the house, he would be able to move with ease.
Screenshot-106.jpgScreenshot-108.jpg At least that plan was good enough on paper. If he managed to get his university degree he'd be able to go into the boss and ask to be promoted several steps above what he'd normally get to be able to do, with no higher education. And he knew that his late mother and father would be proud of him, standing on his own two feet, carving out a future for himself and whatever family he created with a woman that accepted him for who he was.
Screenshot-109.jpg Haruo sighed to himself as he saw another of the kids (his cousin) become a young adult and he realized even more the passing of time - that it was only a matter of time before he'd have to make way for the new generation. Looking gratefully as his soon to be daughter-in-law passed him a piece of birthday cake and then sat down beside him. He looked over at her gratefully as Greta was a sweet young woman and he considered himself lucky that Braden had such a woman as his bride-to-be.
Screenshot-110.jpgScreenshot-111.jpg Looking forward to the future was for children. As an mature adult, Haruo could only look forward to retirement and enjoying his latter years with River by his side.

The Marriage of Allan and Fumiko

Since Allan was no longer considered as heir to the family fortune, he married his sweetheart, Fumiko, in a nice quiet wedding in the backyard with family and a few friends invited to see the nuptials.
Screenshot-120.jpg After all, after the wedding they would have to make their way out of the home and build up their own family. Allan would be given §500,000 to build up his on family line...and the rest he would have to make for himself - he couldn't rely on the family fortune to bail him out of tough times. Masatoshi and Caitlin had already moved out into the community and had another child on the way, they were given §250,000 to make sure that their family was stable. Haruo was generous that way. He wanted to see his family succeed (and take over the town...bwa ha ha ha ha... - the Watcher wills it...).
Screenshot-113.jpg But being "booted from the family house" was not on Allan's mind as he gazed upon his bride-to-be as she stood there in her yukata. As they waited for the guests and family members to gather where they would exchange their vows...it was certain that they had a bright and glorious future together.
Screenshot-114.jpgScreenshot-115.jpgScreenshot-116.jpgScreenshot-117.jpgScreenshot-118.jpgScreenshot-119.jpg Exchanging rings and vows was the easy part. But intertwining two lives together in harmony without arguments and power-struggles was difficult. Each had had their own way of doing things and making a couple out of two people was going to take a lot of work. But in the rosy glow of marriage...it was certain that the two of them would walk that road together in lockstep...all the way.
Screenshot-120.jpgScreenshot-122.jpgScreenshot-123.jpgScreenshot-124.jpgScreenshot-125.jpgScreenshot-126.jpgScreenshot-127.jpg The wedding was fabulous in the fading light of the day, and after the vows everyone headed to the kitchen to watch the cake cutting. Of course...a lot of people stayed on the bridge to look out over the water.
Screenshot-128.jpgScreenshot-129.jpgScreenshot-130.jpg River sighed as she watched her first child get married. Another milestone reached, seeing her first child whom she'd held as an infant now exchanging vows with his betrothed, now his wife. Tears misted her eyes as she wondered what life held for her and Haruo now. Each marriage was a painful reminder that their time was past and that it was their children's future. But she wished Allan and his bride well...and hoped that they had a long and happy future together.
Screenshot-131.jpg The newlyweds gazed at each other across the kitchen table that the cake was on, while the rest of the family and guests gathered around the kitchen, giving the married couple space with which to work on the cake.
Screenshot-132.jpgScreenshot-133.jpg There was a large wedding cake and that was lucky as there were a lot of guests from Fumiko's and Allan's work at the hospital. And the cake was cut into enough pieces to hopefully feed all who attended the wedding.
Screenshot-134.jpgScreenshot-135.jpgScreenshot-136.jpg There were the usual fiascos such as their boss being insane and trying to choke herself. Yeah, that usually goes over well at a wedding.
Screenshot-137.jpgScreenshot-138.jpg But at least it seemed as though all the guests had a good time...and everything eventually all settled down.
Screenshot-139.jpgScreenshot-140.jpgScreenshot-141.jpg Frankly after a wedding party like that...it was a good thing that the Chikamori household didn't have a wet-bar in this house.

Alanna's Birthday (and Things Keep Falling)

Well, soon enough, Alanna aged up to young adult and River knew that the last of their children had certainly flown the coop. They had done what they could to ensure that their children were well-raised and grew up into mature young adults that would do their best in society.
Screenshot-146.jpg Alanna stood over the cake looking forward to blowing out the candles and blown out they were.
Screenshot-147.jpgScreenshot-148.jpg She looked over at her mother and father who were cheering, despite the fact that there was sadness in her mother's eyes. After all, she was the last and the youngest of their children to become a young adult - there would be no more teenagers to lecture and coax. Alanna was free to do as she pleased. And one of the first things she intended to do was become a productive sim.
Screenshot-149.jpgScreenshot-150.jpg And the transformation of Alanna from teenager to young adulthood happened.
Screenshot-151.jpgScreenshot-153.jpgScreenshot-154.jpg She looked rather pleased with the transformation and looked over to the right to see who was there. She noticed that Aidan was absent. No doubt he was still smarting over the rejection of his love overtures. But she knew that it was for the best. She and Aidan were opposites...and despite what they said about opposites attracting, it would prove to make a relationship rocky. Best that he go and find someone else.
Screenshot-159.jpgScreenshot-160.jpg She looked over to see Kunio cheering and out of the corner of her eye, she noticed Aidan approaching...stopping just far enough away to let her know that he respected her space. She hated being so harsh to Aidan, but it was for the best.
Screenshot-161.jpgScreenshot-163.jpg After the cake, it was time to go find herself a job.
Screenshot-166.jpgScreenshot-168.jpg But all was not well in Riverview that day. It was time to look up into the skies...and beware.
Screenshot-171.jpgScreenshot-175.jpgScreenshot-176.jpgScreenshot-177.jpgScreenshot-179.jpgScreenshot-181.jpg Because things were falling out of said sky...and it would be quite a feat to get out alive from that cataclysm.
Screenshot-183.jpgScreenshot-184.jpgScreenshot-185.jpgScreenshot-186.jpgScreenshot-187.jpg ...and Susan got to go collect rocks again.

Aidan's and Alanna's Graduation

River and Haruo decided to make dinner that night...utilizing the new teppanyaki grill and well...things went quite well.
Screenshot-188.jpgScreenshot-189.jpg Of course there were the usual telemarketing calls which had to be avoided or given such a frosty reception that they, it was hoped, wouldn't call there again. A futile hope though. Telemarketers were like cockroaches and taxes; even a nuclear bomb wouldn't kill 'em off.
Screenshot-190.jpgScreenshot-191.jpgScreenshot-192.jpgScreenshot-193.jpg Haruo's dad, Yasunobu, played the piano and then was chatted to by Greta.
Screenshot-198.jpgScreenshot-199.jpg Morning came around and well, that was graduation.
Screenshot-200.jpgScreenshot-201.jpgScreenshot-202.jpg Everyone piled into several vehicles and headed down to City Hall for yet another long and laborious graduation ceremony.
Screenshot-204.jpgScreenshot-207.jpgScreenshot-208.jpgScreenshot-209.jpgScreenshot-212.jpg After all, both Aidan and Alanna were graduating today.
Screenshot-209.jpgScreenshot-215.jpgScreenshot-216.jpgScreenshot-217.jpg Which meant that they had to sit through an extra-long graduation ceremony due to two classes graduating...at the same time. But after all that, they were done and ready to take on the whole world. Everyone else went home except for Haruo, River and Yasunobu who went to Hogan's Diner to discuss certain matters, namely, the fact that Yasunobu was getting to the age where he needed to do less in the garden and to hand over the bulk of the gardening tasks to Haruo.
Screenshot-218.jpgScreenshot-219.jpgScreenshot-220.jpgScreenshot-221.jpgScreenshot-222.jpg ...and Yasunobu promptly got in a fight with Charles the Evil Chicken.
Screenshot-224.jpgScreenshot-227.jpgScreenshot-232.jpgScreenshot-236.jpg Wonder if Charles would taste good as a Chicken Teppanyaki...naw...he's too old and tough.

Brianna Gets Slandered and a Paparazzi Pays The Price

All was quiet at home and the Watcher, being bored, wandered down to the graveyard. And...lo, who should appear but Fiona McIrish-Chikamori, Toshiyuki was nowhere to be found. I guess the afterlife appealed to him and he spent most of his time "resting in repose". It never failed that there were townies who always wanted to trespass on the Chikamori family grave-yard and it appeared that there were two of them that night.
Screenshot-2.jpgScreenshot.jpgScreenshot-3.jpgScreenshot-4.jpg Haruo giving his dad a reprieve went to finish off the gardening.
Screenshot-5.jpg ...then had some fun with Lord Vladimir's Magic Kettle conjuring up lots of new gemstones to cut.
Screenshot-11.jpgScreenshot-12.jpgScreenshot-13.jpgScreenshot-14.jpg ...while others in the family ate breakfast.
Screenshot-15.jpg The conjuring kettle kept Haruo occupied for hours.
Screenshot-16.jpgScreenshot-18.jpgScreenshot-19.jpgScreenshot-20.jpgScreenshot-21.jpg It was a fine snowy day...
Screenshot-22.jpg ...at least it was, until Brianna caught wind that there was a rather malicious rumor going around about her. She, taking after her daddy, wouldn't stand for that and marched straight down to city-hall and proceeded to sue the living excrement out of the perpetrator. The Watcher wonders if there is a way to financially bankrupt said false-accuser.
Screenshot-23.jpgScreenshot-24.jpgScreenshot-26.jpgScreenshot-28.jpgScreenshot-29.jpg Of course...the paparazzi who slandered Brianna showed up...and the Watcher decided that retribution was the best course of action. Nothing like a few well-timed meteor strikes to insure that the sim responsible paid for her transgressions. Hey, dead's good. :D
Screenshot-32.jpgScreenshot-33.jpgScreenshot-35.jpgScreenshot-36.jpgScreenshot-37.jpgScreenshot-38.jpgScreenshot-39.jpg It was a pretty good solid hit on City Hall's front grounds and the resultant carnage left the paparazzi feeling well good and toasted. A coup de grace so to speak. Sayonara to the paparazzi sim...who realized all too soon that she was meeting the Reaper.
Screenshot-46.jpgScreenshot-47.jpg Pleading for her life, she begged the Reaper to give her another chance. But Grim wasn't having any of it. "Should have taken up knitting...might have been a better pursuit..." he intoned sonorously.
Screenshot-48.jpg Brianna's heart nearly jumped into her throat as she saw Grim standing there, silent, as she exited the city hall but he only nodded to her congenially (at least she thought so because she couldn't see or didn't want to see his face under that hood) as she passed by him enroute to heading home. Well, doesn't that make for a wonderful sight for sore eyes. I think it would probably scare the pee out of anyone.

Generation Two

The Kids Go Off To University

The Watcher: Alas, we now move from Generation One to Generation Two, it has been a long road watching Haruo and River go from teen to adulthood and watching them raise their children. Now it is the children's story and well...the Watcher will keep narrating from a omniscient viewpoint so that everyone is covered, but I will be more interested in the children's story as opposed to the founder-parents.

When Brianna came home elated after a successful win at the courts, she realized that the university mascot had left gifts for everyone who was still residing at the house-hold of university age. Getting a degree was one of the hallmarks of becoming a well-rounded young adult and frankly, the Chikamoris all went to university...asides from the parents of the founders. Anyways, Brianna coaxed her siblings and their significant others (those siblings who had significant others) to take their entrance exams and see what sort of mark they got.
Screenshot-51.jpgScreenshot-54.jpgScreenshot-58.jpgScreenshot-60.jpgScreenshot-62.jpgScreenshot-64.jpgScreenshot-65.jpg The only one who didn't get in was Shigeo Kanzaki, who unfortunately didn't receive a good enough passing grade on the entrance exam to be able to register. He'll have to work on his skills and hopefully go in the future or he may just try his luck at life without a university degree. After all, there's a lot to be said for entrepreneurship which there was a lot of opportunity for in Sims 3. So off they went to try their hand at getting university degrees while their parents and grandparents and poor Shigeo stayed home. Greta enrolled in Business, Braden and Aidan enrolled in Science/Medicine and Brianna, Alanna and Kunio enrolled in Fine Arts. It would be quite the adventure as this was the first time that the kids had been outside of the house without their parents supervision and as young adults setting forth on their life-course, they had to do this alone. Fly little birds, fly!
Screenshot-66.jpgScreenshot-67.jpg It was a couple days travel...but well...they came upon UBC at a time where the grass was still green and the leaves were just turning. Just like their mother's and father's alma mater, they were going to the "blue and gold..." "Hail to the Blue and Gold, Hail UBC"...Winter had yet to make an appearance here in Vancouver's University Campus. The kids found themselves a home here and proceeded to make it their own.
Screenshot-68.jpgScreenshot-69.jpg A lot of the students at the University were students that their mother and father knew but were a lot older. Some had matured, others hadn't and were still loafing around looking for parties. But Brianna and her siblings and friends were there to study...get their degrees and get on with their lives. But firstly after such a long trip, they had to fuel up and where better than to go get some food than the diner. No Mahmoud, you're too old for Brianna, get lost.
Screenshot-70.jpgScreenshot-71.jpg Being consciously aware of the environment (yes, we Vancouverites are tree-huggers) the kids rode bikes, with the exception of Greta who decided to use Grandma Fiona's limousine. Who knew that thing was still around?
Screenshot-72.jpgScreenshot-73.jpgScreenshot-74.jpg CKNW Weather noted that there was going to a major cold-snap coming in so "button up those jackets and get those toques out, because Vancouver's going to be having a major cold snap. A cold front will be moving in from the Juan de Fuca strait and sitting over the city for a long while..." Yeah...that wasn't going to be fun at all. Some measures were going to have to be taken like going to the grocery store to stock up on food because they were going to have to cook mostly at home. Alanna painted and Greta went out to work on some weights in the backyard.
Screenshot-75.jpgScreenshot-76.jpgScreenshot-77.jpg A paparazzi had followed them to UBC and well, she got a comeuppance from the Watcher.
Screenshot-79.jpgScreenshot-80.jpgScreenshot-81.jpg Brianna's first attempt at cooking mac and cheese was not very successful, which meant that she had to go back out to the grocery store and really do some stock-up shopping.
Screenshot-82.jpgScreenshot-84.jpgScreenshot-86.jpg Well at least it wasn't bad bike-riding...as it was mostly downhill enroute to the grocery store; the downside being that it was uphill on the way back.
Screenshot-87.jpgScreenshot-88.jpgScreenshot-89.jpgScreenshot-90.jpg While she was out, her brother, Braden, and Aidan (who was her grand-uncle's son) decided to do a little martial arts training outside. When Aidan was done, he came into complain that there was no food. Well, Bri will be back in a bit and she'll get something together.
Screenshot-91.jpgScreenshot-92.jpg Evidently those persistent paparazzi don't get the message...well...a little fire under their rear-cheeks probably might help.
Screenshot-93.jpgScreenshot-94.jpg Of course the screaming would have probably woken up the dead...
Screenshot-95.jpgScreenshot-96.jpg C'est la vie...

CKNW was Right; It Friggin' Snowed

Well, the weather guys at CKNW were right...because when they got up in the morning of the first day of school...well, cover me in sheep-dung and call me a mushroom, it was covered in the white-stuff and more was falling out of the sky. That was going to make running to and fro between classes at campus a wonderful affair.
Screenshot-97.jpg Greta got out of the house and headed off...pretty late in fact because she was trying to deal with the sink which had suddenly sprung a leak, but well, no worries...she managed to get to school...and get her homework for the class from the prof.
Screenshot-98.jpgScreenshot-99.jpgScreenshot-100.jpgScreenshot-101.jpg ...and it snowed...heavily...for the rest of the day.
Screenshot-102.jpg The kids all knew that they had to get ahead in schoolwork if they wanted to graduate on the Dean's list so every spare minute they had they studied...hard. If they weren't eating, they were studying, if they weren't in class; they were studying. If they weren't...I think you get the picture.
Screenshot-104.jpgScreenshot-105.jpgScreenshot-106.jpgScreenshot-107.jpgScreenshot-108.jpgScreenshot-109.jpg Next morning was a lecture for the two who were taking Science/Medicine, and then following that was a lecture for the ones who were taking Fine Arts, Greta had the morning and part of the early afternoon to herself at the house since her business lecture was at four in the afternoon.
Screenshot-111.jpgScreenshot-112.jpgScreenshot-113.jpgScreenshot-114.jpg The Watcher followed the kids who were taking Fine Arts to class. My goodness was it ever dead.
Screenshot-116.jpgScreenshot-117.jpgScreenshot-118.jpgScreenshot-119.jpgScreenshot-120.jpgScreenshot-121.jpg I know it's hard getting into the swing of things at university, but well, geez... And then it was home and back to studying for all of them.
Screenshot-122.jpgScreenshot-123.jpg A long line of monotony only broken up by a visit from an alien (and no, the Watcher has a thing about aliens...like an acerbic wit once said... "You know when it comes to racism, people say: " I don't care if they're black, white, purple or green"… Ooh hold on now: Purple or Green? You gotta draw the line somewhere! To hell with purple people! - Unless they're suffocating - then help'em." Rest in Peace, Mitch.
Screenshot-124.jpgScreenshot-125.jpgScreenshot-126.jpgScreenshot-127.jpgScreenshot-128.jpg You just can't have these aliens walking around town unchecked. After all, who knows what they're going to do to Riverview's society. Right?

Harold Assange Earns the Wrath of the Watcher

While the sun slowly descended down in the sky towards the horizon, the kids decided to meet at the diner again for dinner. It meant that they would go home with their stomachs full and able to study for the rest of the evening.
Screenshot-130.jpgScreenshot-131.jpg Luckily the diner wasn't filled with people coming into eat and the paparazzi hadn't caught wind of where they were or they would have been inundated with autograph seekers. Sometimes celebrity was a pain.
Screenshot-132.jpgScreenshot-133.jpgScreenshot-134.jpgScreenshot-135.jpg Harold Assange was doing some extra-curricular illegal activity. So the Watcher decided that an attitude correction was in order. Maybe it'll work, maybe it won't.

Watcher: "So...Harold, you've been a naughty, naughty sim. What are we going to do with you..."

Harold Assange: "Let me go?"
Screenshot-137.jpg Watcher: "WRONG ANSWER! Ten million volts"

Harold Assange (screams)
Screenshot-138.jpgScreenshot-139.jpg Watcher: "Do you plan to do more extracurricular activities that result in other sims getting harmed?"

Harold Assange: "Uh..."

Watcher (not liking this): "Perhaps a little more correction is needed."

A thunderclap... Harold Assange looks up Why is the sky getting dark...other than the fact that it's night time? : "Oh...NO!"
Screenshot-140.jpgScreenshot-142.jpgScreenshot-143.jpg Watcher grinned evilly. "Perhaps...you might change your mind more quickly?" he said menacingly.

Harold Assange turned pale: "Um..."

"Not quick enough..."

Harold Assange: Oh...NO... "OK...I will...stop the meteor shower...PLEASE!!?"

Watcher: "OK..."

Harold Assange sighed with relief...
Screenshot-144.jpg Watcher: "I lied."
Screenshot-147.jpgScreenshot-148.jpgScreenshot-149.jpg Lesson to be learned here, kiddies: Never trust an omniscient being to be interested in your welfare. ~evil grin~

Well, at least the Chikamori kids got some spending money out of the meteors...and Harold Assange learned a lesson (oh...no worries...boys and girls, he got out of it...singed, scared, and smelling like pee, but he survived).

Alanna & Kunio

Morning dawned upon an interesting scene with Alanna and Kunio flirting with each other. There had been twinges of an interest in each other but the eagle-eyes of Mom and Dad had been fixed on the two of them and they weren't really able to get as familiar with each other as they would have liked.
Screenshot-152.jpgScreenshot-153.jpg Kunio had always been fascinated by Alanna and how beautiful she was...and Alanna was captivated by the handsome young Japanese sim that had dropped on the Chikamori's doorstep thanks to a call from the young man's family in Japan to the Chikamori patriarch to ask him if he might be willing to sponsor Kunio to live in Canada.
Screenshot-155.jpgScreenshot-156.jpg They both knew that they were inextricably linked and somehow that didn't seem to bother either of them. Of course they were innocent...and didn't want to push the parameters of decorum by hopping straight into a physical relationship, so they just kept their amorous adventures to innocent hugs, embraces and kisses. Otherwise Alanna's Dad would be quite annoyed to say the least.
Screenshot-157.jpgScreenshot-158.jpgScreenshot-159.jpg This time in her heart, Alanna knew that Kunio was the right one - she hadn't felt that twinge for Aidan. Probably because he was too much a part of her family and it just seemed really icky to like her brother in that way. Kunio wanted to take a romantic selfie with her which she had no objection to.
Screenshot-162.jpg Yes, it was better that they kept it to innocent pursuits lest her Dad find out. And considering both Mom and Dad were black-belt Sim Fu Masters....it probably would not behoove Kunio to anger either of them, let alone both of them, considering that Alanna was the baby of the family and was Mama's baby-girl. Alanna, however, was head over heels in love with Kunio and enjoyed his attentions.
Screenshot-167.jpgScreenshot-168.jpg ...and that dip-kiss certainly didn't hurt either.

Class Activities Day

Of course university wasn't just filled with lectures. They had class activities too, and well, Thursday tended to be the day that everyone got to sit on their posterior ends outside in the snow. Braden and Aiden had the first activities class in the morning and the fine-arts students got to sit at home until 11:30. Greta's class wasn't until four in the afternoon, so she got to spend the whole day at home. Of course, Aidan and Braden got to stand out in the cold in the morning and gaze at their Them Bones skeletons. The rib bones' connected to the...sternum; the sternum's connected to the...pubis; c'mon...sing it... Well...that's so fun. ~sarcasm~ Anatomy wasn't my strength.
Screenshot-169.jpgScreenshot-170.jpgScreenshot-171.jpgScreenshot-173.jpgScreenshot-174.jpg That got some attention (probably not positive) from Ayana Yuki (at least I think that's her).
Screenshot-175.jpg And by the time they got back, it was time for the fine-arts students to hit their classes.
Screenshot-177.jpgScreenshot-178.jpgScreenshot-179.jpg Nothing like sitting in the snow to freeze your general...lady-bits and guy parts. And considering it was -3 or -13 with windchill and moisture in the air (remember kiddies, Vancouver is a coastal city and when it gets cold...it gets ffffffff-larking cccccccold)
Screenshot-180.jpgScreenshot-181.jpgScreenshot-182.jpgScreenshot-183.jpg While Bri, Alanna and Kunio were freezing their relative privates off...Greta and Braden were getting comfortable. Exceedingly comfortable...hey...a massage will leave her relaxed for class. Yeah...really.
Screenshot-184.jpgScreenshot-185.jpgScreenshot-186.jpgScreenshot-187_censored.jpg Of course it did mean that Greta had to run for business activities class. But it was certainly worth it, she thought. Though Madeleine Noetal's droning on and on about business plans and macroeconomics was enough to put poor Greta to sleep.
Screenshot-190.jpgScreenshot-192.jpgScreenshot-193.jpgScreenshot-194.jpg ...and Kunio and Alanna got even more close...no...not like that...
Screenshot-195.jpgScreenshot-197.jpgScreenshot-199.jpg Does Kunio really want to expire? Especially considering how much Haruo protects his daughters?

The University World

The university world was covered in snow as many of the residents were asleep. UBC became a completely different looking world in the snow at night. Lights were on all over the campus and well, the whole campus lit up.
Screenshot-200.jpgScreenshot-201.jpgScreenshot-202.jpgScreenshot-203.jpgScreenshot-204.jpg Screenshot-209.jpgScreenshot-210.jpgScreenshot-211.jpgScreenshot-212.jpgScreenshot-213.jpgScreenshot-214.jpgScreenshot-215.jpg Of course, during the day, the campus was quite the hive of activities with students running to and fro from classes.
Screenshot-2.jpgScreenshot-3.jpgScreenshot-4.jpgScreenshot-5.jpgScreenshot-6.jpgScreenshot.jpg Brianna and Braden had to run for their respective classes as they were running quite late that day. All things considered they couldn't afford to fail their midterm tests.
Screenshot-7.jpgScreenshot-8.jpgScreenshot-10.jpg ...and once again sun set on campus on a Friday afternoon.
Screenshot-11.jpgScreenshot-13.jpgScreenshot-15.jpgScreenshot-16.jpgScreenshot-17.jpg After midterms, they could kick back and relax, at least for the short-term and well, they were able to enjoy some food and relaxation if it wasn't for that pesky paparazzi hanging around.
Screenshot-18.jpgScreenshot-19.jpgScreenshot-20.jpg ...Well...that learned him.

Campus Life

Once mid-terms were over, the kids relaxed, however Braden worked on science projects and Greta rebuffed advances from Jeffery Dean, "Ewwww, You're my Mom's age! Dude... No thanks...plus on top of that, I'm engaged."
Screenshot-27.jpgScreenshot-29.jpg ...and Brianna called her dad and talked with him about how the exam went. She figured that she did pretty well on the exam. And her dad congratulated her. Exchanging "love you sweetie."...and "I love you, Dad..." they signed off.
Screenshot-39.jpgScreenshot-40.jpgScreenshot-41.jpgScreenshot-43.jpgScreenshot-45.jpg Meanwhile in another dorm, Eddy was feeling his age catching up to him. He had seen the youngsters running around the campus heading to classes and knew that they were River's and Haruo's kids. He had known River and Haruo at university and it seemed like a complete mental disconnect to see their kids running around campus. Since he was back looking for a post-graduate degree in fine-arts, he'd see River's and Haruo's daughters in class. So it went...with life. He was getting way too old to look like a mid-twenties goth. You couldn't recapture your youth and all one could do was age gracefully.
Screenshot-47.jpg Meanwhile Mahmoud Yavari was making friends and influencing people. He really wasn't doing such a great job at it and frankly was ticking off the woman that he was talking to.
Screenshot-48.jpgScreenshot-50.jpgScreenshot-52.jpg So the Watcher decided to give him a makeover.
Screenshot-53.jpgScreenshot-54.jpgScreenshot-55.jpgScreenshot-56.jpg It was funny seeing him try his advances with a face like this. Absolutely hysterical.

...and of course the science students were in the fenced in area mucking about with stuff that they were just guessing at.
Screenshot-58.jpg Students were building snowmen in the snow and Madeleine Noetal got tired of her look and got herself a makeover.
Screenshot-61.jpgScreenshot-63.jpgScreenshot-64.jpgScreenshot-65.jpg Brianna cycled home from the grocery store and then ended up getting a call from an unwanted suitor. "Hey...babe...I've seen you 'round campus and you look hot...do ya wanna hang sometime...like at my house?" Ewwwww... "No...Mahmoud...you're as old as my Dad...bugger off."
Screenshot-70.jpgScreenshot-71.jpgScreenshot-72.jpgScreenshot-75.jpgScreenshot-76.jpgScreenshot-77.jpg Some people...just don't get the message that they're outta touch with the younger crowd any more.

The Weekend

There was definitely time for relaxing around the dinner table; whether it was reading or eating a meal.
Screenshot-78.jpg Alanna called her mom and talked to her about her exams. Her mom told her that she was proud of her and that Alanna did the best that she could on those exams. Alanna was grateful of her upbringing that had encouraged her and made her feel that she could accomplish anything if she put her mind to it.
Screenshot-80.jpgScreenshot-81.jpgScreenshot-84.jpgScreenshot-88.jpgScreenshot-91.jpgScreenshot-93.jpgScreenshot-96.jpgScreenshot-97.jpg Afterwards, she embraced her boyfriend, Kunio. She was so engrossed in that embrace that she didn't even notice Aidan walking past, who looked over rather sadly and walked towards the kitchen without saying a word.
Screenshot-101.jpgScreenshot-102.jpgScreenshot-104.jpgScreenshot-105.jpg Screenshot-99.jpg Night fell and while other denizens were out doing their nightly jaunts, the Chikamori kids and their significant others slept.
Screenshot-107.jpgScreenshot-108.jpgScreenshot-109.jpg The next day while other students were hanging out by the beach, the kids were either working on their martial arts or sparring. Aidan and Brianna decided to have a sparring match where Brianna kicked Aidan's tail end.
Screenshot-110.jpg Screenshot-111.jpgScreenshot-112.jpgScreenshot-114.jpgScreenshot-131.jpgScreenshot-153.jpgScreenshot-156.jpgScreenshot-158.jpg Sparring worked up a sweat and Brianna dove into the shower to get all cleaned up because she didn't want to work on dinner smelling like something that crawled out of the sewer.
Screenshot-170_censored.jpg But she couldn't take too much time to enjoy her time under the hot water jets, because others had to use it too and she needed to get out before they all complained. Alanna was next to use the shower and likewise, she had to get out before the last two complained.
Screenshot-170_censored.jpgScreenshot-173_censored.jpg ...and well...the last two who needed to use the shower were Greta and Braden. Conserving water...?
Screenshot-176_censored.jpg Shower Hogs!
Screenshot-177.jpg ...and poor Kunio had to deal with the messy counter.

Diligent Studies in Application

Monday Morning's class saw a newly changed over Eddy and Mahmoud's face was back to normal (see, it's only temporary and then it wears off). They were standing outside their building in preparation for afternoon classes. Mahmoud was grateful that morning that the curse had worn off and that he had his old face back again; he was so relieved that he nearly collapsed to the floor in gratitude. If he goes back to his constant baiting of members of the other gender at university, he'll wear that face permanently.
Screenshot-178.jpgScreenshot-184.jpg Everyone was shocked to see Eddy's change of hair color and business attire. They had only familiarized themselves with the old goth Eddy and well, the new attire made everyone make a double-take.
Screenshot-182.jpgScreenshot-183.jpg Mahmoud saw a statuesque redhead walk by. "Hey...that's one foxy young lady..." he said to Eddy.

"Mahmoud, just don't say anything. You really don't want Haruo ticked off at you."

"Why?"Mahmoud asked.

"Haruo and River will take turns stomping you into the ground; Bri is their daughter."

Mahmoud shut his mouth...and looked over at Bri. Yeah, he valued his existence over gratification.
Screenshot-185.jpgScreenshot-186.jpgScreenshot-187.jpg Night fell again over the Chikamori kids' home and well, it certainly looked fantastic as the campus lit up.
Screenshot.jpgScreenshot-3.jpg Tuesday morning was the usual rush to get to lectures, of course some had more time than others.
Screenshot-4.jpgScreenshot-5.jpg ...and others had to run for class...or skipped it entirely...probably not good for the grades, but the Watcher is only concerned with those whom he intends to be benevolent to.
Screenshot-7.jpgScreenshot-8.jpgScreenshot-10.jpgScreenshot-11.jpgScreenshot-12.jpg The others just get a dose of his wrath. Such as one sim who was particularly late to her class.
Screenshot-14.jpgScreenshot-15.jpg Braden spent time out near the square reading...in the cold. I guess it did something for his brain that he was able to concentrate on things more easily in the cold. He must definitely be a true Canadian. Canadians tend to get lethargic in the heat.
Screenshot-16.jpg Of course, it was rather surprising to see the rainbow at the end of the day through a break in the snow-clouds.
Screenshot-17.jpgScreenshot-19.jpg ...and after-class everyone headed to their respective homes and had their dinners, the Chikamoris included.
Screenshot-20.jpgScreenshot-23.jpgScreenshot-24.jpg Of course it didn't help that a paparazzi decided that tonight was a good night to trail Brianna home from school to see if she could gather any juicy scuttlebutt. A ten-million volt charge of discouragement made her see the light.
Screenshot-27.jpgScreenshot-28.jpgScreenshot-26.jpg Nothing like an awesome dose of shock therapy to encourage those no-good meddlers into at least pretending to be upstanding members of society and leave the celebrities in-town alone...never works. So the Watcher will just have to keep a can of Jolt on hand for just these special occasions.

"What Happened to the Prof?"

Tuesday morning started out just like every Tuesday morning; Aidan and Braden headed out for class lecture. Which as usual proved to be more socializing because the prof never shows up at these things. What exactly are the sims paying good money for when the prof doesn't even do his job?
Screenshot-31.jpgScreenshot-32.jpgScreenshot-33.jpg By the time the Fine Arts Lecture rolled around, Bri and Alanna fell asleep. Evidently studying all last night was enough to wipe them out.
Screenshot-34.jpgScreenshot-35.jpg They roused themselves awake, but still no professor. In fact, Kunio had to get up and teach the class.
Screenshot-36.jpgScreenshot-37.jpgScreenshot-38.jpgScreenshot-39.jpg Alanna was seriously not impressed with the whole non-lecture class. Maybe that prof needs to be cited for faculty misconduct (not teaching a specified class and being absent from said class).
Screenshot-40.jpgScreenshot-41.jpg Alanna muttered to herself under her breath, "What a freakin' waste of time. I could have learned more skipping class and studying at home...Two full terms and I still haven't seen the professor other than at regular class." Meanwhile Bri had fallen asleep yet again.
Screenshot-42.jpg ...and on top of that Alanna had to fire her limo driver and find a replacement since he ended up making a right turn onto University Boulevard (no cars allowed and accidentally rammed into the building. Luckily insurance covered it all), but the driver got his walking papers.
Screenshot-49.jpg Back at home it was back to mealtime; eat and study, that was the routine necessary. And the rest of the family decided to continue studying so that they would excel in their final exams.
Screenshot-50.jpgScreenshot-51.jpgScreenshot-53.jpg Screenshot-55.jpg As it was, it was late at night and they needed to rest for the next day.

Classes and Mucking About With Cosmic Things

Next morning, Wednesday, was yet another mad rush to classes, after all, classes were mandatory attendance if you wanted to pass with flying colors. If you didn't attend, you didn't learn anything and well...the kids wanted to pass with flying colors. Have to please the old man.
Screenshot-56.jpgScreenshot-57.jpgScreenshot-58.jpgScreenshot-59.jpg It was snowing out...and well, the temperatures on the coast were cold...must have been that El Nina they were talking about.
Screenshot-62.jpgScreenshot-63.jpgScreenshot-64.jpg Yep...Canada. Just put yer toque on, and git yer beaver-tail to class, eh? Qwitcher whinin'. It's only minus two. Just give'r.
Screenshot-65_CanadaEh.jpg ...and well there were fine-arts class students who did do some guitar playing in the cold and well...the whole campus was snow-covered. And of course, Greta had to get to class.
Screenshot-67.jpgScreenshot-68.jpgScreenshot-69.jpg As usual, at the respective halls that the kids were going to, there was a log-jam at the entrance. Which meant more milling around in the cold.
Screenshot-70.jpgScreenshot-71.jpgScreenshot-72.jpgScreenshot-73.jpgScreenshot-74.jpg And who ever it was that was doing some experiments involving that puzzling contraption out in the science hall yard, well...he attracted some due cosmic attention.

Last Classes, Graduation and Travel Home

Thursday morning saw Braden and Aidan at the school learning their anatomy from the Them Bones skeleton. They say that the thing is animated; still haven't seen 'em move yet. And still haven't seen a one-armed skeleton chasing Aidan down the university concourse swinging his other detached arm like a baseball bat. That would make the sadistic Watcher have giggles and fits...if not shiggles and gits.
Screenshot-95.jpgScreenshot-98.jpg Alanna went to class.
Screenshot-103.jpg Meanwhile, some Toronto fan streaked the campus. Guess the drought got to her or something, because she was screaming "Toronto wants the Cup!!!" Still four months till playoff, yet, lady.
Screenshot-104_TorontoFans.jpg Well...at least it could be worse. Braden ended up with the skeleton of a Leafs' fan

Maybe he should get a refund.
Screenshot-99_DissLeafs.jpg When the woman got her clothes back on (probably after freezing whatever bits could be frozen), she started building a snowman. Bri could only shake her head sadly. "Well, I guess it could be worse, Dad's a Canucks fan." Look up futility in the dictionary. You'll find a picture of the Canucks logo. (Bloody heck, we're picking SEVENTH in the draft this year...)
Screenshot-105.jpgScreenshot-106.jpg Friday was just as weird with having to run to classes for final exams. But they all managed to ace their exams. And that was a great load off their shoulders...as they reached the end of their baccalaureate studies. And then they would go home and start their lives.
Screenshot-108.jpgScreenshot-110.jpgScreenshot-111.jpgScreenshot-113.jpgScreenshot-115.jpg Greta had to do a final business presentation to get extra grades on her Bachelor of Business Administration program. And she did so and got it done well...though why it was out in the student square and in the snow...who knows?

They all went to the diner to celebrate and well, there was someone there who decided that Braden wasn't a great fit for Greta and proceeded to try to "come on" to her. Braden put a quick stop to that by getting in his face. And well, the Watcher had to do something to the lecherous punk too.
Screenshot-116.jpgScreenshot-117.jpgScreenshot-118.jpgScreenshot-120.jpgScreenshot-121.jpg Serves him right. That'll learn him.
Screenshot-122.jpgScreenshot-130.jpgScreenshot-135.jpgScreenshot-136.jpgScreenshot-137.jpgScreenshot-141.jpgScreenshot-143.jpg Saturday morning saw the kids eating breakfast...knowing that that day was the day that they would graduate and get their degrees, then they would all be heading for home.
Screenshot-144.jpgScreenshot-145.jpgScreenshot-146.jpg Noon-time rolled around and they were down at the Athletic Department Stadium.
Screenshot-148.jpgScreenshot-149.jpgScreenshot-150.jpgScreenshot-151.jpgScreenshot-152.jpgScreenshot-153.jpgScreenshot-154.jpgScreenshot-155.jpgScreenshot-156.jpg It took about four and a half hours, but eventually everyone came out with degrees in hand and they were ready to travel home...to their long-waiting family (who since they were frozen in time, while the kids were at school; didn't freeze to death).
Screenshot-157.jpgScreenshot-158.jpg Happy Travels home, kids.

Coming Back Home and Mara McRaney

Well, the welcome home was fine and River and Haruo got themselves thawed out after greeting the kids home from university and everyone all went to sleep. The next morning, as usual, River and Haruo were the first ones up. River had an early morning cup of brewed java so that she could start the day perky and ready to hit the tasks that needed to get done.
Screenshot-159.jpgScreenshot-160.jpgScreenshot-161.jpg ...and everyone trickled in to get their morning meal. That kitchen got crowded really quick. Mornings were always a bit tricky and things weren't always bright and shiny, especially since Aidan had actually stepped on a raw nerve of Alanna's. Oops.
Screenshot-162.jpgScreenshot-163.jpgScreenshot-164.jpgScreenshot-165.jpg It was probably a good idea that he vanished for a while.

River decided to crack open a book and study some logic.
Screenshot-166.jpgScreenshot-167.jpgScreenshot-168.jpg A long-time friend of Aidan's from military school, Mara McRaney showed up at the door and well, she was invited in. They had been in contact via e-mail for quite some time. And evidently she'd known about the infatuation that Aidan had had for Alanna. She'd had one of her own with Aidan. She'd talked with him through that heartbreak that he'd had when Alanna had outright rejected him, even though she felt like a dagger had been pushed through her own. Ah, men were dense. :D We never know what a woman is thinking. We're usually about five to ten steps behind. That's why when you ask us what where we want to go for dinner, we usually go: "Huh...what?" Our brains can only handle one thought at a time; and what you're usually thinking about is lightyears ahead of what we are.

So, Aidan asked Mara if she would like to go downstairs and play a game of pool. So that's where they headed.
Screenshot-170.jpg Aidan flipped a coin to start things off. Mara picked heads, Aidan picked tails; it landed tails, so Aidan got the break.
Screenshot-171.jpgScreenshot-172.jpg Mara was a no-nonsense kind of a gal, that coming from having gone to military school with Aidan. Mara had gone into the business side of things working at Doo Peas Business Tower.

"Nice break..." she called out to Aidan and gave him a rather sultry wink that caused Aidan to miss his next shot. That girl was a sneaky one. She knew his buttons really good.
Screenshot-173.jpgScreenshot-174.jpg ...and that was all she wrote, because Mara proceeded to mop the pool table with Aidan. She sank pool ball after pool ball and ultimately won the game. Mouth hanging open, Aidan protested, feebly, but with a sense of humor about his whole rear-kicking. "No fair, that was..." he trailed off.

"Dirty pool?" Mara smirked at him.
Screenshot-175.jpgScreenshot-176.jpg She moved closer to him and Aidan got lost in those eyes.
Screenshot-177.jpg ...and he thoroughly, utterly forgot everything about being dumped by Alanna because he could see nothing but Mara; and how his classmate looked. How had he never seen her like this before?
Screenshot-178.jpgScreenshot-179.jpg Yeah, he was hooked, lined...and sunk.

Aidan and Mara Tie the Knot

It never fails, no matter who the sire is, a Chikamori male always gets hooked, lined and sinkered when it comes to an attractive female and even though Aidan was the son of the late and lamented Molly French-Chikamori and Satoshi Chikamori, he was raised by his much older cousin, Haruo, and well, he was a Chikamori in blood. When they fell, they fell hard. and Aidan was no different. He was going to tell Mara that he loved her. No regrets about it. Alanna was no longer in the picture. She was yesterday's old news. Mara was his here and now.
Screenshot-180.jpg Aidan gave Mara a bouquet of roses just as his surrogate mom (but cousin-in-law) River came downstairs to wait for her husband because they were taking over the pool-table and well...Mara really enjoyed that bouquet of roses.
Screenshot-181.jpg Her reaction was definitely favourable to the continuation of their courting.
Screenshot-182.jpgScreenshot-183.jpg Yup, that boy was done, like a Christmas goose with a sprig of holly up the hoo-hah.
Screenshot-184.jpgScreenshot-185.jpg Deep down in his heart, Aidan knew that Mara was his one and only, his true other half and he wasn't about to let her go, considering her reaction to his advances which was more than favourable. The way that she had nestled into his arms made him feel as though he had come home to a tranquil harbour after being tossed on a stormy sea for weeks on end. And when he had knelt down on one knee and proposed marriage and eternal love to Mara, she reacted in such a way that it made River look over and smile in remembrance that she had felt the same way when Haruo had proposed to her so many year ago.
Screenshot-186.jpgScreenshot-187.jpgScreenshot-188.jpgScreenshot-189.jpgScreenshot-190.jpg Ah, young love...she thought to herself as she looked over at the young lovers who were pretty much lost in each other's gaze.
Screenshot-191.jpgScreenshot-192.jpgScreenshot-193.jpg Aidan and Mara had a private wedding with absolutely no fanfare as that was what they wanted. Since they had found each other, that was the only thing that was important; to get on with their lives and enjoy the time that they had with each other.
Screenshot-203.jpgScreenshot-204.jpgScreenshot-205.jpgScreenshot-206.jpg Aidan knew that there were two people whom he had to thank. The cousin who took him into his own family, raised him up like his own son, raised him up to be a man, all those years ago when he could have been shunted into a foster home - it was a debt that he couldn't repay. There wasn't the words that he could find. But all Haruo said, was, "You're a good kid, Aidan. Just do your best in life and make yourself a success, I'm proud of you..." The words came after those words that Haruo said to him, "Thanks...Dad..." Because Haruo was like a father to him.
Screenshot-209.jpgScreenshot-210.jpgScreenshot-211.jpgScreenshot-212.jpg Haruo and River (his surrogate dad and mom - and family) were his lifeline...and the ones that raised him up...and he was a better person for it.

Kunio and Alanna

Nothing like persistent date calls to attempt to try to break up a long-standing nearly 33 year marriage, which supremely ticked Haruo off and he told off that caller in no uncertain terms that he wasn't in the slightest bit interested.
Screenshot-213.jpgScreenshot-214.jpg The clouds had turned orange and red as the sun lowered towards the horizon...from what they could see past the fence line.
Screenshot-215.jpg River got her own share of nuisance calls as well. When she had finished verbally castrating the hapless date-caller, while Haruo played violin for a while, she and Haruo eventually headed up to bed.
Screenshot-216.jpgScreenshot-217.jpgScreenshot-218.jpg While the family was asleep the Watcher made the town thug electrified for mugging another sim in the neighbourhood. Clyde Relic felt the burn. Take that, you muscle-bound menace.
Screenshot-221.jpgScreenshot-222.jpg Braden and Greta sought out some private time.
Screenshot-223.jpg Alanna and Kunio spent some time jamming which ultimately drew some attention from some other musically inclined family members.
Screenshot-224.jpgScreenshot-225.jpgScreenshot-226.jpgScreenshot-227.jpgScreenshot-228.jpg ...which ultimately ended up in a major jam session with Haruo on drums, Alanna on piano and Kunio and River on guitar. It was a fun way to get some family-bonding time. And it was only interrupted when they all got hungry enough to head downstairs to grab a bite to eat.

Alanna and Kunio had been an item for a while and after the meal, Kunio asked Alanna if she would meet him in the science room.
Screenshot-230.jpgScreenshot-232.jpg They had just moved into a newly built house because the other one just had too many issues with the basement being unable to be dug out and stairs not aligning up so they dug out the whole place and put a newly built house on the lot. The family had moved in...and they were happy. So when dinner was over, Alanna met Kunio downstairs.
Screenshot-229.jpgScreenshot-232.jpgScreenshot-234.jpgScreenshot-235.jpg Alanna received the shock of her life when Kunio got down on one knee and pulled out a felt-covered box containing a diamond ring.
Screenshot-236.jpgScreenshot-237.jpgScreenshot-238.jpg She accepted the proposal and well, they had that marriage ceremony first thing in the morning.
Screenshot-239.jpgScreenshot-241.jpgScreenshot-243.jpgScreenshot-244.jpgScreenshot-245.jpgScreenshot-246.jpgScreenshot-247.jpg However wonderful, the family festivities didn't stop Braden from getting called up to duty the next morning. After all he was in the regular military as an officer now. Welcome to the Royal Canadian Navy. Ensign Chikamori. Thought you were going to have time with your significant other, eh, after getting home from university and all that hard study and work? Well, the needs of the Royal Canadian Navy outweigh YOUR needs, Mister. Shut your hole and...
Screenshot-248.jpg ...embrace the s*uck. Deal with it.

A Birth and Faithfulness

The evening started out calm and peaceful as Haruo prepared dinner.
Screenshot.jpgScreenshot-2.jpgScreenshot-3.jpg It was later at night that River received a frantic call from her half-sister, Caitlin, that Cait's water had broken. Well, that involved a frantic rush to the hospital. and several tense hours later (by Sims standards) a bouncing baby boy was born.
Screenshot-6.jpgScreenshot-8.jpgScreenshot-9.jpgScreenshot-10.jpgScreenshot-11.jpgScreenshot-12.jpg Once they got little Kai home, River hugged her nephew, Jerad and headed home to sleep.
Screenshot-13.jpgScreenshot-14.jpgScreenshot-15.jpgScreenshot-16.jpg All was quiet and peaceful in Riverview that night...
Screenshot-19.jpgScreenshot-22.jpg Someone, however, ignored the baby and left him on the kitchen floor. Luckily Masatoshi picked him up and cuddled him. Poor little Kai.
Screenshot-25.jpgScreenshot-26.jpg Dawn brought its rosy hues to the sky as the new day started.
Screenshot-27.jpgScreenshot-28.jpg ...and well, River wanted to spend some time with her husband...
Screenshot-29.jpgScreenshot-30.jpgScreenshot-31.jpg ...which of course was interrupted by some caller who wanted to know if River was free tonight to go on a date. Needless to say he probably needed to apply some burn ointment to his ear after River got through with him.
Screenshot-32.jpgScreenshot-33.jpgScreenshot-34.jpg After she got off the phone she looked over at the wall. Never would she violate the vows that she and her husband had taken so many years before.
Screenshot-36.jpg Hell would freeze over before she gave anybody else a second look.

The Watcher Deals Out Unspeakable Pain

There was a wriggling of paparazzi (I decided to use the same term as a group of maggots)at the hospital waiting for some celebrity who had gone in. The Watcher being fed up with paparazzi decided to inflict some major pain on them.
Screenshot-37.jpgScreenshot-38.jpgScreenshot-39.jpg Buck Baer got roasted by several nasty jolts of lightning. He's a hardy little maggot. Another paparazzi wasn't so lucky and expired upon being hit by two jolts.
Screenshot-40.jpgScreenshot-41.jpgScreenshot-42.jpg So long, toots. While Grim was dealing with one corpse (the Watcher finally managed to get Buck Baer to expire), the Watcher fried another paparazzi.
Screenshot-43.jpgScreenshot-44.jpgScreenshot-45.jpg Yeah, maybe they should get a real job.
Screenshot-46.jpgScreenshot-47.jpgScreenshot-49.jpg Grim Reaper: "They don't pay me enough for this..."
Screenshot-49.jpgScreenshot-50.jpgScreenshot-51.jpg Grim Reaper: "Are you sure that I can't take a lunch break now??? I haven't eaten since eight in the morning."
Screenshot-52.jpgScreenshot-53.jpgScreenshot-54.jpgScreenshot-55.jpg Grim Reaper: "It was just a thought...y'know...be my guest...fry a few more...what's the difference."
Screenshot-56.jpg Grim Reaper: "I was getting a bit hungry here, y'know...kinda...just askin'. But go ahead...if you got work for me..."
