On the new trait rules. If you age them up on their birthday are they allowed to have negative traits?
I rarely have any negative traits kids, but curious.
Nope. If you dont meet the requirements to age them up, the game has to automatically age them up. (They would get the forgotten birthday moodlet)
Hi, @TheRoseHorse! Sounds like a fun challenge. I didn't see any mention of how the parents can make money. Can one of them hold a regular job? And/or can either one earn money as a stay-at-home mom/dad, for example, by painting, writing, gardening, etc.?
Parents can earn money however you choose.

I'm glad someone posted in here to remind me that I was doing this challenge xD 😂 I've gotten quite busy lately and haven't touched a few of my save files. I will be getting back to this very soon I'm sure.
Oh trust. I stopped playing for a while. I've adopted 4 kids. One is moved out, one is a teen, one is a child, and one is a toddler. I need to get back into it.

I'm doing this! Doesn't seem to require any expansions that I don't have (which is all but Cats and Dogs and Discover University). (Medium)
Meet Stewart Elkins, the MC of this challenge.
Here are his Story Mode stats. Kind of sad that he's Evil, but whatever.
Since I'm lazy and terrible at building, I decided to live at Parkshore in Willow Creek, with a few motherlode commands, a money reset, and a quick clone of my sim to reset the money aspiration.
I love this @dythia Ngl, I don't even remember what difficulty I started at, but I'm pretty sure I started with hard so that I could test it. If you have any ideas, please feel free to share. I am limited on the packs that I have, so there might be packs that you own that I don't that you can give some insight on. Any feedback is helpful.

For anyone else playing this challenge, I want some feedback. I haven't updated this challenge since before Lifestyles and Likes/Dislikes came out, so how should I incorporate these features into the challenge if at all?

Since I don't have the Lifestyle expansion, I can't speak for that. However, Likes and Dislikes should just be normal, none applied in CAS, but if the popup appears, the answer should always be "Yes". You could then modify the life of your sim based on that. For instance, during a period when the baby was asleep, I got a notification saying Stewart wanted to like video games. I would then set up a gaming side career for him.
How often are y'all adopting? And do you get simoleons from the "government" to help with kiddos expenses? I used to play a similar challenge created by Macthekat and there were rules about when to adopt, what days, if the kids had good grades they got extra funds from the "government", honor roll got them even more money such as scholarships, etc. I'm probably making it harder than it needs to be, but I feel like I'd end up with a ton of kids (and slightly out of my mind) if I adopted every day!
I recently got back into playing it and I'm still changing some things, but it's adopt at your own pace. If you need more time between kiddos, then take that time. If you want to adopt 2 at once and have the be twins, go for it. It's your game. As for money, I've just been having the parents work to make household funds, and that does the trick for me. There is going to be an update soon regarding the infant update, but I haven't played in a long time and haven't played with Infants yet.

More soon!
How ironic.
Stewart really loves her.
Bottle feeding like a good father.
Oh no! Baby crying! I can kind of sense it...
Being a parent is tiring.
How ironic.
Also, I read through and just wanted to note this in the rules. Obviously, it's your save, so you can play it how you want to, but I just wanted to note this for you.
Oops, didn't see that in the notes.

I think I agree with what you said about likes/dislikes tho.
