Children don't "read something" autonomously ?

I've noticed that as much as adult sims often decide to autonomously read a book, children seem incapable of doing this autonomously. I've tried to force the autonomous interaction on children with the bookworm trait, and it never happens.
Is it just in my saves ? I'd like to know if other people have seen a child autonomously choosing to "read something" lately, and I don't mean "browse books", I mean "read something" or "read (title)". Because it looks like only "browse books" works autonomously with children, despite having plenty of children's books to read in bookshelves.

There may be other activities that the children are attracted to do instead. It may depend on what other items are in the room where they are. The tv attracts sims away from reading. There is a thread about this on the AHQ EA site

I removed the TV, I removed everything... I've even modded the cell phone so that the child won't use it, and the child either wants to chat with someone or stays there at the same place for hours. She'll go browse books, but she won't read something even if there is nothing else to do.
There is no such problem with older sims. Just children.

I've done a few more tests, and there seems to be an issue with bookshelves and inventory. Children won't read books in bookshelves or in their inventory autonomously. But children will autonomously read books that are placed somewhere on the lot.

Yes, I'm 99% sure it's a bug now, other than the no autonomous cell phone mod I made and added at the end to test, it's a vanilla save, no CC. If it truly is a bug, I hope the developers see this thread and fix the issue.

I've noticed that toddlers will also look at books a lot if they are laying around but I'm not sure I've ever seen one go into the toddler bookcase to get a book....if it's happened, it's rare.
