I updated the game yesterday and while it was slow-ish before, I could still play it, but now it's completely unplayable. I can run Sims 3 and other games with no issues, but not Sims 4.
I took out all the mods that could cause issues and the problem persists.
Comments
1. Move (not copy) Saves, Tray, Mods, Screenshots, Videos, and Custom Music folders and the Options.ini file to your desktop. If there is a folder inside Saves called Scratch, delete it.
2. Delete the rest of the The Sims 4 folder from your Documents > Electronic Arts folder.
3. Start the game, and exit the game. Now you have a fresh Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 4 folder.
4. Copy all the files from those old folders into the new folders and start the game again.
If that doesn't help, what are you playing on? You can show us that by looking up your DxDiag info, exporting it to a text file, and copying and pasting it all here. It will take multiple posts, but that's okay. Here's how: http://forums.thesims.com/en_US/discussion/comment/13329932/#Comment_13329932
Shut down your computer completely. Start the computer again, then launch the game and see if that helps.
Try also switching between 32 bit mode and 64 bit mode and see if one of the modes helps the lagging issues more than the other
Go to Game Library in Origin . Right click on The Sims 4 picture.
Click on “Game Properties”. Click on Advanced Launch options.
Change the “When launching this Game” setting to “The Sims 4 32-bit”
Or change the “When launching this Game” setting to “The Sims 4 64-bit”
Try turning off origin in-game and see if that helps. To do that, go,to Game Library in Origin . Right click on The Sims 4 picture. Click on “Game Properties”. Then untick the box that enables origin in-game
Try playing in off line mode and see if that helps the issues.

changing the settings to 32-bit actually helped! My game is running again(instead of crawling)!
