Those show up when your sims is learning a skill that is affected by a lot trait, such as homey or something like that allows sims to learn cooking or house related skills faster, and those symbols will float around their head while learning the skill.
Reminds me of the leaves that swirl about a Sims' head in Sims2. Once weather was instituted in that game, learning/skilling was increased in the Fall. Doesn't bother me.
Well late to the party I may be but I'm a bit confused. I have twins eating breakfast and chatting together- 1 has these symbols and 1 does not. They were given identical traits and aspirations so I don't understand why they don't both have them or neither have them.
It depends on the interaction the Sim is performing. Some raise charisma, some raise comedy, etc. Whichever, it is a skill your Lot Trait helps with, that they are engaging.
