What about the mouse holes?

I've been playing since it came out, yet I don't have my sims in an apartment with the mouse holes. I like one of the building's exteriors and I want to move someone there....BUT I just wondered on those fixer-uppers, can you cover the holes or are they JUST THERE?! If someone knows, could you give me feedback on them? Are the mice hard to get rid of? I hate them in real life and I dang sure don't want them in my game life! LOL!

They are just there lol. I left one exposed so it's easy to fix but I have to move my desk when the other one becomes "occupied" lol. Also roaches appear in some places along with a weird odor from the floor? Makes my game interesting at least lol
