Origin v10: Can't play The Sims 4 without Internet

I've made a previous thread about the issue of not being able to play The Sims 4 without Internet due to Origin but the discussion is now closed, I've also made another thread on Answer HQ Can't play Origin sign-in games without Internet connection.

It looks like Origin 10 has broke the ability to play sign in games without an Internet connection as I was previously able to play sign in games without Internet in version 9.x but it doesn't work on version 10 even when I tell Origin to remember me. I've tried this on two different computers (a Dell XPS 410 running Windows 7 Professional and a 2009 eMachines running Windows 10 Pro) and both had the same issue.

• Connected to Internet & signed in to Origin: Can play The Sims 4.
• Disconnected from the Internet but signed in to Origin: Origin automatically runs in offline mode and can start The Sims 4.
• Not connected to the Internet & not signed in to Origin: The Sims 4 won't start as Origin won't connect.

This can be bad for users who aren't always connected to the Internet (i.e., traveling) or have no Internet connection but it shouldn't be an issue for users who always have an Internet connection.

Hello.
Since the release of the newest version of Origin, some simmers have been finding that they need to have signed in online at least once since downloading/installing the new version, then after that they need to put it in offline mode before logging off so that they then can play in off line mode next time,

@rosemow putting it on offline mode and then closing Origin now works. I tried editing the Answer HQ thread but I can't edit or make new threads since the submit button doesn't appear.

OP I have had tge same problem with origin and I have used my in-laws net to log on then go in offline mode and shut down the net. This doesn't seem to be a permanent fix. Looks like I am stuck waiting until next month to play.

The only thing that worked for me was not to turn the tab off at all leave it on at all times.

I am sorry that you are having this issue.
Have you been able to redownload the origin install file from the origin site?

Shut down your computer completely. Start the computer again, then go to the origin site and try to download and install origin, and see if you can do it then.

This worked for me:
- Log out
- Log in (Make sure the box "Remember User" is checked)
- Close Origin
- Disconnect the internet
- Run Origin
- Now you just have to enter your password and Origin will run in Offline Mode.

Whenever you're not connected to the internet, Origin will only ask for your password.

I had this problem some weekends ago... My Internet Service Provider was with a problem and I wasnt able to play... I bought the game.. its single player and origin wont let me play the sims because I couldnt log in to put in offline mode...

I'm furious right now. I didn't think about this and just moved to a new flat so we don't have internet yet. I was looking forward to some simming and then I encountered this. It's absolutely unacceptable.
The solutions all require to be online at some point. Grr!

I am sorry that you are having this issue If you are using a laptop, perhaps you could try going to a local library or somewhere that has free wifi and log in to Origin. Then put it on to offline mode, then come out of Origin. Then see if you access the game at home.

In addition to rosemow's post, whether using a laptop or desktop computer you can use your mobile phone device as a temporary Wi-Fi hotspot for internet connectivity.
