Your fav Sims 2 'quirks'

marx13marx13 Posts: 48 Member
As a lot of us can agree, we know TS2 is known for it's humour and quirks, and I think the way the developers went about this make the Sims the most endearing of the whole series, in my opinion. I was wondering what small little things about the TS2 have you noticed that brings a smile to your face, or warms your heart a little?
The classics I can think of (that many people I have seen talk about) is when kids stop what they're doing and run to the parent that has just arrived from work to hug them. It's so cute and makes me feel a little broody hehe. One thing I love is if you have Nightlife installed, Sims with chemistry would sit close to each other and would be near each other, and if they have a negative relationship with another they tend to get up and move away and do something else. They honestly have so much personality and it's what keeps me coming back.

Just the small things. These are just quick things I can think of, and there is honestly a plethora other details and quirks that could be said but I'd like to see what people think and would love to hear more, since after playing this game for over a decade I'm still learning so much about it.

yes those little touches really stand out, let me think oh yes when siblings are close the older sibling, teen of course, will sometimes tuck the younger one, child age in on their own. Which is so sweet I couldn't remember my sims ever doing that but I still remember my favorite sim doing so when he was done with his homework and his three little sisters were already in bed.

There are so, so many! Off the top of my head my favourites would be if you are telling your sim to say socialise with someone, particularly romantic socials, sometimes the sim glares at you before they do it as if to say: "You are really going to make go through with this?"
I also love the fact that two sims will snuggle In bed before getting up,
Teens can give each other noogies if left to their own devices

Children dance on their parents feet
The gossip system actually is gossip about real event happen in game.
    Toddlers huggle each other
Parents can worry about their children if their aspirations are low.
If sims recognise too many fears they get a visit from the sim psychiatrist.

Aww haha. It makes the game so likeable IMO. I love to see what they're gossiping about. My mean sim's (when she was a toddler) poor nanny peed herself in the nursery. But even at college age, my sim STILL won't let go of it, telling anyone she can. It's so funny. Here's something else I discovered whilst playing today. My romance legacy spare was playing basketball and all the girls he pursued came to cheer him on and follow him everywhere it's amusing to watch.

Toddlers also huggle the family pet. Which is the cutest thing EVER! I seriously feel like I'm going to melt into a puddle from how adorable it is.

I also like how they look at me and point at themselves when I tell them to do something. "Me? You want me to do what now?" And then walk to the task I told them to do, shoulders hunched and all dejected. Like when I tell Don to go mop up the puddle he made when showering. >:)

I love all the things posted above.

I also love when kids come home with an A+ they wave their homework while the parents cheer for them.
I love when parent come home from work and kids run out to greet them with a hug.

okay this was a new one for me which made me laugh of course.

So I wasn't paying attention to the needs of a toddler. The hungry toddler proceeds to eat the cat food out of the bowl. Yeah I was laughing pretty hard. I thought he went over there to play with the food then I checked to see what he was doing because I never saw a toddler play with pet food and he was eating it..LOL WOW that was a new one for me.

It's cute when the toddlers are tired and you have pets I saw my little Tony sleeping on a pet bed and in the dog house which I didn't know they could do :) I didn't even notice he had gone outside I thought he was with his sister turned the camera around and there he was.

I always thought the peek-a-boo animation was unbearably cute. I have some classic shots of moments with toddlers. Still seething that SOME people didn't think they were a crucial part of gameplay but that's for another thread.

I like the fact that if parents have been fighting in front of their children, the parents have the option to console the child. I think it's really sweet.

I love that I've been playing this game since 2004 and this thread is still teaching me things I didn't know! And really making me miss toddlers

TS2 is such a brilliant game, I can only hope we'll see its like again with 5...

I found another one for you guys (that I've never seen before). I was playing around with a a family, who invited another household for a visit. After the sim greeted his girlfriend who was far away from the rest of her family (who were near the mailbox, she was on the front porch) - she started waving all the way to her dad in the most animated way, there was a pause, and he started waving back like crazy. Has anyone else seen this? Did it come with FreeTime or something because it was so cute.

I think that came with Freetime when sims had special greetings for family and close friends.

I kinda like how teens got stressed. They'd have a hugh zit on their head and they could shmeer some creme on it xD

I also love the social bunny!
Don't forget to take care of yourself every now and then in this big chaotic world!
