Dear Ea, Why are parties the only thing you care about?

Ha, ha! You know, I would never have thought of having the maid answer the phone, but that would have been a nice addition! And you know, we didn't have aging in Sims 1 but with MM you could have your sim make that one crystal that would enabled children to transform into an adult. I would use that!

With Sims 4, I would like to see telephones come back. Some people do still have house phones along with their cells. :D

Yes house phones are still common place enough and of course they are used by work places all the time.

I guess they are not as 'in demand' as they used to be in order to have them removed from the game to save an animation.

The same way that newspapers where removed was the same reason, no one reads them anymore. Apparently... :no_mouth:

I'm a family player and I don't feel ignored. I don't think all packs focus on parties either, I'm having a lot of fun going to the restaurant with my families, having my families hanging out in the garden or the patio, children playing with the new toys and board games, families joining clubs, etc

To me, none of that even matters when the most IMPORTANT part of my sims life is missing.

All of that 'family play' is moot when there's not even basic growth.

    --T

This is how I feel, too.

I can't consider things like hanging out in the garden with all the members of your sims household or even the elements added in the Kids Stuff pack "family play" when a crucial stage of a Sims development doesn't exist. The basic elements of family play are totally eliminated by an infant that's actually an object jumping out of its bassinet into basically a fully functioning elementary aged child with no input from the parents.

LOL I miss the newspaper too! One of my favorite things to do in Sims 2 is have kids and adults make them into paper airplanes. And of course the crossword puzzles. My sims in Sims 3 love clipping coupons and reading the going ons around the neighborhood.

It is totally undeniable that The Sims 4 received a very strong focus on parties and social events and this continues today, but do not agree that all packs are related to it. It has been released some content that can be related very well for family events, which is a good thing.

Anyway, The Sims 4 Family Play is still too weak compared to The Sims 2 and The Sims 3. The family game in The Sims 4 is still very shallow.

Instead of saying "parties" I would use "socializing outside the family circle". I guess this is what people mean by saying that TS4 is just about parties.

Also, TS4 focuses on a single-sim play style. This doesn't appeal to me - I don't intend to collect stupid eggs or maximize skills like crazy or have a 10000000-baby challenge.

Sorry OP, but The Sims 4 actually has less party content in it currently, than The Sims 1, 2 and 3.

I don't understand this whole "nothing but party party party" when the only thing The Sims 4 differently, was not make you pay for a Lounge/Nightclub/Bar community lots.

If the Sims 4 is nothing but parties, the other 3 games must be even worse.

They only care about parties... yet parties are entirely optional, aren't forced upon the player to have, nor have we gotten a Pool Party yet either.

Nice to see that people continue to exaggerate parties as a central theme.

And of course, EA is definitely not listening to their fans when they actually do cater to those who, believe it or not, enjoy parties.

You say you listen to your fans. You say you care about your customer's wishes. If that's true, then why do you ignore family players? They're your fans too. All these gamepacks, stuff packs, and expansion packs have one thing in common: parties. All you care about is party, party, party, party, party.
Why do you constantly ignore the family players of the sims? They're your customers too.

Dine Out has nothing related to parties it's just about eating in restuarents or running them.

I'd like a family reunion (with family storytelling, and some connection to genealogy) and a retirement party (with a Gifting moment). Oh! And wakes :)

Parties and sim socialization between young adults in general were what this game was designed around, IMO. It was not designed as a family simulator. It's my belief that the original game (Olympus, or whatever they were going to call it) had no other life stage than YA which is why teens, adults, and elders are just clones of the YAs.

Kids were well designed at first but they've kind of stopped with them in the sense that they haven't expanded on what they could do very much. Let's not even talk about the younger life stages! I think they have been attempting to add what family-related stuff they can, but it's not nearly enough for me, or enough to make up for the games central focus. I'm not sure what the problems are but it seems to me that they have difficulty adding changes to the game.

Then there is the whole issue of should they make changes that might alienate those who like the game as it is, and does that fit the audience that marketing has decided is the best target for the game? Those are management-type decisions and I think they have some debates about internally, but I'm just speculating on that.

In any case, the short answer is that this game was designed around socialization between YA sims and so that's one of the game's strengths that they can easily build upon. Changing the game in other ways is more difficult, apparently.

Say it again. It doesn't feel stagnant and fake like in the current game. All the non playables just are background noise, scripted to do things to make the lot appear alive. :(

Yes! Why do they always talk about how rich another sim is, or so and so is an alien in disguise. lol Gossip about other things!

I would like them to add a baby shower party with two options: 1)throwing it before the baby's birth or 2) after he baby's birth.
Also a family reunion, but they will have to fix the culling and family and friends relationship bugs.
And a block party. The whole block can come, everyone brings a side dish, but the host is in charge of the bbq grill.
And I would love a pool party too. Marco Polo could be played, along with other water sports like volleyball, basketball, etc.

This is my thought as well. It's more like "going out and socialising" than simply "partying", and when you say partying, people get hung up on Specific Actually Parties and the discussion gets caught up there instead of focusing on what the original poster meant.

I think it seeming this way is partly a side effect of the instanced lots. It makes leaving your lot this whole big thing, you drop everything and teleport instantly, and if you dont want to drag the whole family to absolutely everything ever that you are invited to, then you abandon them to Sims 4 aether until you return to your home lot. You'll be gone hours while everything else is on hold. It's a simplified and miniaturised version of going to Al Simhara or something (well.. and much faster loading haha), and if you did that once a week, it would likely feel like there was an unnatural focus on vacationing.

At least for me, personally, this is why I still feel that there is this big focus on getting out! socialising! party! gather! There isn't, not *really*, but since it's a big several hour event that's in a totally different world than your home and everything else - it feels like it.

This is why it doesn't feel like there is a family focus to me. With Sims 3 vacationing, it acted like Sims 2 travelling anywhere. What you left behind really is put on hold and you can still tackle everything you wanted to do with them without losing precious time with them. You can send one sim and never really lose time with the rest of your family. In Sims 4, it's all or nothing. If you send one sim, little Suzie's homework doesn't get done. Johnny's up at 3 am. Their motives are all low and Mom's done nothing around the lot. To make matters worse, time has continued on and you've lot that time.
Dissatisfied with Sims 4 and hoping for a better Sims 5

Yeah I didn't even really touch upon the whole motives thing, homework etc. By "put on hold" I just meant that they don't even really exist in game. it drives me pretty nuts to come home and someone who has school in the morning is totally rested at midnight, or someone who should have been sleeping all night has to work in an hour and is starving and unready. There isn't even a tab alongside "build skill" and "take care of self" with "do homework". But sure I guess my teen's homework and music club can meet alongside my drinking and dancing one at Pan Europa.

It's weird too, because so many things are oversimplified and far too easy, and then coming home to your home lot sometimes randomly just basically puts you on hardmode.

Because that's what 12 year olds, their apparent target audience who spend more than a half of their lives in social media and playing mobile games on their pretty phones and tablets, think adult life is, party party party.

Nope. My 11.5 year old hates the game. She's sticking to Sims 2 and Sims 3 for now. It's not about the parties for her, it's about family life and playing with toddlers. That's her favorite life stage.
Same here have two kids around the 12 year age "target audience" one asked for Sims 4 for Christmas thinking it would be like Sims 2 he loves playing, he played it once and hated it. Both of them refuse to play Sims 4 and ask me to get my old comp working that plays Sims 2 so the target audience seems to want a quality game as well one with both toddlers and teens not adult sized so they can create themselves and play how they want.
Sims 4 went from "You Rule" to "One of the stories we want you to tell"
