I took a huge break from playing the game and only recently got back into it. I love it, but I do think there's some room for improvement.

    Me!

Like any game, it has its little quirks (I wish story progress was better, for example) but I'm enjoying it despite that. Sims 3 has its own little quirks you had to work around, so you learn to deal. I'm the type of person who would much rather focus on the positive than the negative, anyway, so I don't have any trouble enjoying The Sims 4. The things I love about it far outweigh everything else.

I love the graphics, love the design flexibility in CAS, love the multi-tasking, love the ease of using the gallery to add new lots and households to your game (especially love how easy it is to plunk down new houses and people on the map), and the new the build mode features like moving an entire lot, stretching rooms, etc. have inspired me to do more building than I have in previous games.

I've also been enjoying all the expansions as they come out and looking forward to what's next, especially new things not done in previous Sims games.

Ok here is another fun thing - I miss my grandmother, she was my best friend - she died in 1998 and I took care of her until she passed away, she had Alzheimers. Anyway, once Romantic Gardens came out I was able to recreate my grandparents home and my grandparents in their heyday, I have them in all my save files so they are always there, I never play them but they are always and ever present. To make a long story longer, I love squirrels and its kind of a running joke that I feed the squirrels in our courtyard every day, you get the idea - I am nuts about squirrels. I also love playing the sims and about a week or so ago while I was building and testing Godetons Pointe I had my test sim out taking pictures for some art and ran across a painting in the wild from none other than my sim grandma. I gushed about it to my friends and fam like I had gone mad and then the other day as I was building Nola Magnolia Park Place and outfitting my art gallery/museum she came in for a visit and left me another painting.

My real life grandmother was an artist by the way, she painted mostly but she also was an amazing sculptor, an immaculate chef and could bang out a tune on the piano at a moments notice. You have no idea how happy it makes me to see her and my grandfather and our family home in game and then to have my grandma stop by and leave me personal poignant coincidental paintings? You have no idea. <3

I have also never seen these two paintings painted by any other sim before, personally. I cant save the squirrel painting but I really love that she left me the heart painting to keep in the gallery. (yes I named them haha) Thanks Grandma!

Thanks, I should state however that I do have to go in and restore their relationship every so often otherwise they end up slapping each other and getting slapped a lot by the trail of broken hearts they seem to constantly leave behind.

    The title... that's the question.
I've seen a lot of negativity. And less people that actually like this game.
So, if you like this game, speak out! :)

For me? I like this game. It's alright.

Ultimately; I like this game. It is my favorite Sims with the attention to detail, character emotions and all that jazz. I just wish some things were included like seasonal changes and furry friends.

This thread STARTED off good. Then it became like every other thread. Hey, it went for 8 pages without it all imploding, so that's good!

EDIT: Nevermind, it became good again. Don't mind me!

Well let's put it this way - IF there was an actual Sims 4 for me to judge - I would give a direct answer - I just don't consider this present game USING the Sims 4 label is the actual Sims 4 - it is something else. To be honest I was never a Sims side game player - they were too rpg for my taste. My thing was the God game and life simulation games in the Sims series. This game is the "something else" I called the side games.

Ask us again if we ever actually get a real Sims 4 game - then I can give you a fair answer - but knowing me as I completely love and adore the Sims series and probably always will - I will never feel this game is part of the series - it's just a side game with the Sim series format and pricing slapped on it.

But still waiting for the Sims 4 real version to come out.

I said in another thread that it still feels like it's in beta stage and were just testers... I like the game but overall I still feel that it still needs a lot of work and I don't think I should be feeling that way 2 years later...

I love TS4 but where did they ever say that TS4 was going to be like the rest of the franchise I remember them saying they were going in a different direction with the game.

I like the game too. However, I feel they had no choice but to go a different direction with TS4 because it didn't start out as a regular game as the others did. I have no problem with going a different direction but the base IMO is what makes a game a game. For me it's still lacking base game wise, and I don't mean just missing objects. Life stages are incomplete (teens look like YA and not much to distinguish them from them, babies are objects, and yes no toddlers). We pretty much have the same traits, aspirations, careers, etc. I just question how all of this will work out in the future.

They said they were going back to it's roots. Does that mean TS1? That would explain the absence of toddlers.

But TS1 had a pretty good base game though. How many things were missing from TS4 at launch? Plus it was the first so people comparing TS1 to TS4 makes no sense. TS4 is the FOURTH in the series. Some people feel it's more lacking in many ways than the first... :(

The only good thing about Sims 4 is the CAS & The build mode. Unfortunately, that's not enough. There is no gameplay. There is nothing to do.

Sometimes I'm concerned that I make like The Sims just so that I don't feel like I've wasted 150+ bucks.

I do pretty well, I like sims 3 I think better, but the there are things that they added to sims 4 that I can't really live without anymore. Like the multitasking, I adore that! I love how well the game runs, but I do miss the open world and the T word. I also really miss being able to drop babies wherever.

I like The Sims 4. Are there places where I think the game is lacking, where it could use improvement, or are there just things I miss that were lost from past games? There certainly are, but I still manage to enjoy Sims 4 for what it is right now even though I still haven't purchased Get Together (yet). I also still go back to play Sims 2 and Sims 3 to enjoy those versions as well.

I'm willing to wait in order to see what future expansions and game packs will add to the game with the hope that the game will become more enjoyable for people who aren't happy with it right now. If it doesn't? Well, let's hope we get a Sims 5 where the company has learned from the experience, and EA doesn't decide that the Sims isn't worth the money.

I do really like the sims 4, I don't think the game is as dynamic as the sims 2, (never played the sims 3), but in a way, it's a plus because when the game is working well I find it really calming, and it's a great way to break from a hectic day. I think Dine out was amazing, I was expecting to be really disappointing due to not being able to play as a waiter or chef, but I think it works. I actually really like get together- the club functionality is actually really versatile, I've begun to use it to create apartment style lots where each "flat" is a club, and therefore can make flats in the "apartment" inaccessible to the other sims on the lot, via the door locking system.

I've basically repopulated all the neighbourhoods with my own sims, and am slowly re-organising each neighbourhood, so each one has it's own individual theme/ purpose. For example, Oasis Springs and Windenburg are largely "human" populated residential neighbourhoods (although Windenburg still has its original specialised get together lots). Oasis Springs has become more of a Strangetown equivalent though, with a decent alien population, and a couple of "cyborgs" - which I made with CC. CC also enabled me to transform Willow Creek into a neighbourhood populated almost exclusively with elves, vampires, faeries and other supernatural looking sims (I'm a really cool person, I know). Newcrest houses community lots and has it's own restaurant district and Magnolia promenade remains a retail neighbourhood.

One issue I have though is that as a rotational player, the game is basically unplayable without mods. Before I had MC command centre, relationship culling was off the charts, for one. Also things like Doctor career re-imagined just really improved the gameplay for me - without that the doctor career was kind of annoying. CC lights also need to be re-enabled as well by the devs. But overall I'm enjoying the game.

I was geared up to love it 2 years ago. I was dewy-fresh naïve, starry-eyed hyped, and rabidly ready to consume with Visa in hand everything ts4. I really didn't think that they'd kill the golden goose, but it's a dead duck. Quack, quack... errrgh.

That's sweet you recreated your grandparents and their home in the game. Lets hope they don't fall victims to culling... or better yet, if you switch households for a bit, lets hope your grandma doesn't have love interests with the whole town.

No, I don't like the game. Too much missing and broken gameplay. I hate closed worlds. I hate culling. I hate that we don't have toddlers or even cars. But most of all, I hate the fact that I spent money on not only the base game, but a couple of lousy expansions thinking it'll get better.
