I think they're meant to influence non-simmers. Simmers already know what they think of the game. I think the idea of Influencers is they publish material that gets indexed by Google and helps expose The Sims to more people who might not otherwise stumble upon it. In fact the term I would have coined if I had been EA would be "Publicity Partners"
(hear hear @MrHawk )
Loved the video and agreed with every word. However the link in your siggy didn't work for me, I had to google your website to see the video. Anyhow great job on expressing how many of us feel about the treatment received on this forum. It's why so many "negative" people have stopped posting. It's horrendous, really. And to know that an actual guru is now perpetuating the myth that any and all complaints about TS4 is nothing but "negativity" (i.e. a BAD thing) really s.ucks. Reminds me of so many of the cheerleaders' attitudes on here. How lovely. Oh well; I haven't spent a dime on this iteration and certainly never plan to, and everything that happens on this forum only serves to hammer the nails further in that coffin. It's just sad to lose respect for someone I once thought was very fair on this forum - someone in such a "high" position. But it is what it is.
Where do I start? This is spot on the mark.
@SimGuruDrake - you want to know why we're all so unhappy (those of us who are, if you like the game, I'm not talking about you)? THIS IS WHY! This, this, this, this, thiiiiiiiissssssss ^^^^^^^^ (watch the video).
How you can say that you don't know what the problems are around here baffles me to no end. I take actual offence to that because it is CRYSTAL CLEAR why. Clearly you are NOT listening to us.
Everything @mattandphilsims2 says in his video really needs to be taken on board by the entire Sims team. Take everything he says and act on it. You say you talk about toddlers everyday at the office? Well, what do you say about them? Do you just laugh at how desperate we are? Gossip about the fights that break out over your silence on the subject? Well, what? Explain to me what it is you are actually talking about because if you and your team truly are then why on earth do you only have the same three words to say? You're obviously not listening, are you? What is the deal? What are you talking about all day? How to make them? How to add them? How to tell us they're not coming? Well, what is it? Give us an answer that is not 'We are listening' because you're not. If you were there'd be something to say. I am not willing to move on and buy and enjoy more stuff for this game until you address that issue. I don't care what your 'rules' are - break them. I think the time has come. Don't you?
I'm happy about the teasers, they're actually great, when they're showing me things I want to know. I'm asking you about toddlers and you're giving me backyard rubbish? Lol. For real? If I want rubbish for my backyard, guess what? I'LL ASK FOR IT. Do you not get that I am NOT INTERESTED in anything for this game until you sort out the basic issues that are wrong with it. No toddlers = a bad game. Simple. Add toddlers and that pretty much fixes that issue for me = me to buy things (which is what you want, isn't it?) for TS4 allowing me to enjoy the future content that you will inevitably be releasing.
Like, I don't know how more transparent WE need to be for you to get it. The game is rubbish because there are no toddlers. That's it. Take that to your team and actually DO SOMETHING about it. Put EP3 on hold if you must, idc, I don't WANT it without toddlers. I CAN'T get excited over it without toddlers. Period.
If by now you STILL don't know what to do to please us then you never will. Toddlers; are they coming or not? Are they being tested? Are you not sure if they'll work? WHAT? Just tell us. Even if it's a no, I would at least be open to playing this game causally until the 'real' TS4 came out. Because how it sits now? This isn't it. It's something else.

ETA: typos, of course. ETA2: I'm using toddlers as my point of focus as that is what is game breaking FOR ME. What I've said can be applied to just about any missing base feature and also about culling and relationship decay. Your basic lack of transparency pretty much applies to us all.
Well said!
Awesome video!
I suggest @SimGuruDrake to show this video to the whole team on a big screen, maybe they will get it finally.
It's pretty simple: Give us the Toddlers (we have been waiting for for two years) and we are happy. Main problem solved. Simple, right?
I think I can post it... let's see:
https://youtube.com/watch?v=1pHtTm1CnWk
Yes, why not, good idea. I would say that especially The Sims Studios Executive Producer/General Manager needs to see it, and why not pop in here and talk to us.
Putting this as a reminder why I think she should:
GC: So you’re satisfied that not having toddlers was the right choice?
RF: That’s the decision that we made based on all of the information that we had at the time. So absolutely, I feel like it’s the best decision for the game to date. I’m not talking about future stuff. But I do think it’s important to know, that players play in very different ways. We see all kinds of different play styles and family players are very passionate, so are players that play other ways.
And I want to make sure that all of those voices are considered when people are thinking about whether or not we’ve included the right things. Because we do, we take it very seriously about whether or not we’re approaching all of those different play styles. We take it just as seriously as the players do that are asking for the things that they want.
I'm not sure I understand why toddlers would interfere with all the different playstyle she says this game has?

Oh yes I remember that interview, must have been around a year ago now?
I don't know what was more interesting o ready though, the interview, or the forums afterwards...
Thanks Been here for 7 years already but this whole situation just really made me want to express my opinion.
By the way, the community team works really bad here in Russia. Our community manager just reads messages but don't reply. Therefore we can't make any contests, but that's another topic
I've seen a few players act like the mere sight of a toddler would ruin their game for them, that the seconds it would take to age them up if they don't want to play that stage are just unacceptable. I don't get it personally.
Well there are various reasons. Some people enjoy getting invited to the various events and getting the game early, others like having people visit their site and read what they post or just plain enjoy imparting information. Others may have more pecuniary reasons like lots of page hits raising advertising revenue.
You don't really?
You are sought out, given a pack to try early, get asked to go to an event. Your feedback on the content is demanded. Also free stuff. It's a high honour, I'd have thought. I don't see why anybody would want personal recognition from Maxis as a simmer.
Also, have you guys not noticed the people who say "Well, I'll wait for reviews, before I buy". They influence all of us, in some way, small or large. Thousands, as an example, read SimsVIP. When I'm on forum breaks, which is more often than I'll admit, I read the news there. It keeps me relatively up to date. They go to every EA event for The Sims. They do previews and reviews. They have influence. It's not just about the non-simmers. If you're a non-simmer, why would you even be looking up sims content?
Well you know good English so you should also be welcome to post here as well
Also I don't know who of you's been following the "Should The Sims 4 End Here" thread, but it recently got reopened after being closed, with this particularly interesting disclaimer:
Are these people kidding us? What exactly do "negative comments about an organization" entail? Does this mean we shouldn't be critical anymore, as clearly they think a lot of us who're trying to be constructively critical (up to a point at least) are spreading negativity and being whiny customers? Afaik you're very well allowed to say something negative about EA on most other forums, but maybe I'm wrong... It says a lot about what kind of "freedom of expression" they'd prefer to see in our posts. lol
Jup, I am one of the blocked people. Being critical about them or the game will get you banned. That's just how it is.
https://youtu.be/tQrWsPcTVAk?t=6m52s
actually that one post on page 10 takes up like half the video. (starts at 6 minutes 52 seconds, as the forum embedding doesn't let me to refer to a timestamp.)
I detest watching let's plays and reviews on youtube, except for LGR cos he often makes me laugh - though even with his, not so much these days.
That's crazy! I'm actually seeing more and more people being critical over there now and on other sites. They can't block everybody. It wasn't like this a year ago... That's how I know people are becoming very unsatisfied.
They blocked me because I voiced my opinion about how they are always so ''blinded'' and one sided. I never see them being critical about anything. Everything is bright and shiny.
They couldn't handle it, so they blocked me for spreading false rumors or false accusations.
Well, don't give a plumbob.
It would be much appreciated. *thumb up*

I will have to try and see if they prebanned me!
