I know some people will think, "What's the big deal?" especially since this update didn't provide any content. But believe me, it added a lot to the atmosphere to the game. Before the update, TS4 felt drab and depressing because of the dull greyish lighting, and you didn't really get a sense of the time of day if you were indoors. Not only is TS4 a lot more vibrant, you can better feel that it's morning, afternoon, late afternoon or evening based on the shadows.

Seriously, I really can't rave about this update enough, and if anyone else has some great screenshots of lighting, please feel free to post them!

I play the game after a pause of over a year and I'm totally impressed and happy with the difference in lighting indoors. It went from miserable to great. Guru Meatball most certainly kept his promise.

The lighting improvement is one of the things I am very happy about with Sims 4. They did a really nice job.

Totally agree, I love the new lighting system!
It's brilliantly done and at certain times of the day it can look so atmospheric.

The only thing I don't like about the new lighting is the way it jumps. It doesn't just gradually flow as the time of day changes. If you watch a rectangle of light on the floor it will suddenly jump further along

Really just love this addition as well! It adds a lot of realism and it's cool to be able to figure the shadowing into your design style and story telling.
