Help! CAS won't work after update «12...Next Go

Hi Simmers!
So we all know the update that brought lots of controversy, but it just brought me issues on my computer. Great, right?

So my game auto-updated, and once I saw the patch notes I decided to try it out. But of course something always goes wrong in my game. It seemed to start up normally, just a little longer load-up screen. When I created a new household, a person came up, just kind of sitting there. There was no panel for me to pick traits, their age or stride, no place for me to type the name and when I clicked on a body part nothing happened. However, if I try to stretch a body part it works. I had to exit by Task Manager because when I tried to quit the came, none of the buttons were working. I tried my best to search for solutions but I had no success. Can somebody help me please? Do you have cc/mods in your game? If you do, move your mods folder to the desktop. Then start the game and test to see if the issue is still there. If it does help, then put your mods/CC back into the newly generated mods folder in the sims 4 folder one by one or in batches and testing the game after each one to see which is the cause of the problem. Put one item in , test the game , take it out. Then test another one, to find the cause of the issue.


Do you have the " More CAS Columns" mod? If you do, that has been causing issues.

@rosemow I just downloaded the More CAS Columns Mod yesterday. I'll uninstall first and see what happens. If that doesn't work, I'll remove the whole folder. Thanks, I'll tell you what happens!

Sort of same here. Ever since my game updated this morning, the game will load, go to the town, then when I select the family I want to play it crashes after a minute or 2 on the loading screen. I've tried clicking "repair game" in Origin which did nothing. Took mods folder out and started it again & it worked. But I don't have that "More CAS Columns" mod you brought up. Looks like I get to start the long process of seeing which mod it is...

@phoenixfury666 I haven't finished testing yet so that may not be the case, we cant help each other out. And me to, I repaired and di Origin offline and neither worked.

I am sorry that you are having these issues. Try testing by putting your mods/CC back into the mods folder one by one or in batches and testing the game after each one to see which is the cause of the problem. Put one item in, test the game , take it out. Then test another one, to find the cause of the issue.

@phoenixfury666 Oh, I forgot to share this with you. I always use this program to spot corrupted mods, and it handles a lot of other bugs too. You may want to install it, it's helped me a LOT so I don't have to do the remove and check method!

Thank you @rosemow, I took the mods folder out & put them back in in batches, found out it was a mod called "MTS_clows_1459534_EnableDebugCheats". So I guess I'll be leaving that guy out for now. And thanks @-KendallKatz-, I'm going to check out that program right now!

This is the first patch that's made my CC not work for me... very frustrating. I removed all of my mods and everything is back to normal... it's going to be a nightmare trying to find out which CC is causing the problem. I do have organized folders, but there's a lot of content in those folders.

Would something like the Mod Conflict Detector work based off of the newest patch?

I definitely think it's worth a shot! It's helped me with other update issues, and it's a good program to have anyways. @Geekery

Thanks KendallKatz. I tried it and it came up with several packages highlighted in aqua... does that mean I have to remove all of them with that color? They are labeled "mods", "game changes", or "mod conflicts"

Things like CC that are eyebrows, lips, shrubs... and then other actual mods. How can I tell?

If you have the " More CAS Columns" mod or the " enable advanced debug" mod they have been causing issues, so remove them if you have them.
If you don't have them, then put your mods/CC into the mods folder one by one or in batches and testing the game after each one to see which is the cause of the problem. Put one item in , test the game , take it out. Then test another one, to find the cause of the issue,

If you have a lot of mods/cc, use the 50/50 method. Put half of your mods/cc into the mods folder then start the game and see if the issue is still there. If the issue is not there, then you know that those items work okay with the game. Then you can test the other half of your cc/mods.
If the issue is still there with the first half, you will need to keep testing them to see what is causing the problem. Then you will need to test the second half of your cc/mods too

rosemow -- thanks. I never tried the 50/50 method. I don't have THAT much CC... but what I did was I disabled all that the detector told me had "conflicts" and now my CAS works.... I'm going to have to go through that list one by one so that's a help already because it's slimmed down.

Yup, I checked for those two mods you listed and I don't have those in my game.

Oh boy -- this is going to have to wait until later this weekend...for now it's time for bed, work in the morning.

I wish I read this so I think I should remove my columns mod although I really hope they update it it's the most useful thing I used since MC.

The mod was updated after the June patch. Try installing the latest version and see if it works in your game. Some simmers were reporting issues with the latest version, but it may have been that the mod was conflicting with other mods that they had.

hello~ i'm having this problem but cant seem to find the more collums mod in my mods folder? could i just do the 50/50 method and see if it works? i'm all out of ideas on how to find it :^(

when i put the colum 3 for more columns it's not working in the sims 4 game do any one know how to make it work so i can seee 3 columns in the game

The More Columns in CAS mod was broken by a recent patch . It would be best to remove the current version that you have and download /install the updated version
