What is with the crying?

I'm looking around and discovering WIndenburg. Looks like a nice place.............

but.........I gotta ask...............what is all this crying in the closets? I sent my Sim to a bar and in the space of three Sim hours there were about 5 or 6 Sims crying in the closet at the bar. Is this normal or was it a bad night?

@PHOEBESMOM601 Since no one else has answered I will. Sad Sims and or Sims with the gloomy trait can use the closet to cry it out etc. like they do the bed. But it seems there is always someone using the closet to cry in my game when I sent them to the new nightclubs and or bars where Maxis put the closets. It's weird. lol

There were that many sad or gloomy Sims in one bar in the space of a few hours?

I believe Sims seem to get Sad at bars when Sims socialise and someone who's in a bad mood yells at them.

That is because the stupid Jealousy interaction is broken and everyone flirts with each other and eventually everyone gets Jealous, Also no such luck for clubs either, which is supposed to be above the jealousy interaction and the clubs are supposed to be above Its my house rule.

Edit my sims romatic interest is in a romatic club, which is allowed to kiss and flirt, but my sim kisses another girl in the club one minute and its fine, than when my sim goes to kiss the other girl I get the shake head no interaction and waving her hand and pushing me away followed by the Very Sad mood which is caused by the +2 Drifting Love Moodlet which last 23 hours and ruins game play.

If you delete the bar closets, the Sims will just mope about being sad like usual. Though now that I think of it, a closet in the women's washrooms might be a good fit for gameplay...

Whenever I hear my sims cry, I feel so bad for them. It's like their depressed. I've heard my sims cry in the shower when they were uncomfortable, kind of disturbing.

I don't have a romantic club....just my one Sim guy but what you said sounds like my game. I've been around The Sims long enough to know the progression of interactions you have to do to get to romantic interactions. My poor guy had four....count em....four different girls over and he got the brush off from all of them.....AND there is a closet in his house (a premade in game) and either he or the girl.....sometimes both...who happened to be there ended up in the closet crying during their visit.

You know @luthienrising I'm not saying this to fuss at you because I know you're trying to help but this goes back to something I said the other day. I'm really tired of "do this to get that result" in this game. The game came with a closet in the bar and I shouldn't have to delete it because it's wonky. It should work right!

Are you saying that at some point every Sim in the place is supposed to end up crying in the closet?

The fact that there were about 10 Sims in the bar and at least half of them ended up in the closet crying. It seems beyond the normal possibilities. Add to that he had four different girls over and at some point in each visit either he or one of the girls was in the closet crying. It's more like the obsession that TS3 Sims would get over a premium content item like the deep fryer or chocolate fountain.

The AI system is not perfect meaning there is always a chance for it to go beyond it's parameters. There is no AI system that is perfect and the emotions in Sims 4 does not work sometimes as intended.

Sounds like randomization hitting a result that feels non-random (the way 5 boys in a row feels non-random even when it is. I do think that that should have at least the option to be corrected for, or should be corrected for with the option to let full, weirder-feeling randomization happen.

Well, Sims are unable to cry in the closet unless they actually have the sad emotion. So either something going on at the bar that night made a bunch of people sad, or like luthienrising said, the game just happened to generate a bunch of sad Sims that evening. I've had nights in my game as well when the amount of sad Sims was above average. It's random.

A bit off topic: Your sim can comfort the sim who's crying in the closet from the outside. :) Then that sim will come out sooner.

Whenever I take my sims to a bar I might see 1 sad sim crying in the closet or an angry sim trying to calm down in the mirror, but never 6 like OP states. Maybe you've got a bunch of townies with the gloomy or family oriented traits?

Trust me......with the amount of closet cryers I ran into.......I think it was 9 or10 separate instances in the two hours I had the game open......5 or 6 in the bar and 4 at my Sims house I found out about the comfort interaction.....but thanks any how.
