Getting insulted by other Sims

TinySpaceFoxTinySpaceFox Posts: 1,110 Member
My Sims randomly get insults from other Sims when socialising, even when:
-Neither party has the 'Mean Spirited', 'Evil', 'Hot-Headed', 'Grumpy', or 'Inappropriate' traits
-The traits of both parties don't conflict
-My Sims use positive interactions on the other Sims
-My Sims don't dislike anyone, and don't have any enemies
It really seems as though the only Sims that don't want to insult mine are those with the 'Friendly' and 'Good' traits. I'm just confused. Any help would be much appreciated.

The NPC I have as a friend in China is "Grumpy" and she insulted my sim last time he invited her over. She said someone has "issues" and that she thought it was best if she left.
My sim had negative moodlet for hours from being insulted.
My sims don't dislike anyone either and now has very high charisma, and all the favorable lifetime points when that NPC insulted him.
I have no clue what happen or why he was insulted.

I have had this problem but only in my case if fame is involved.Sometimes being a celebrity good or bad does not sit well with other Sims. They will boo you even if you have never had a scandal.I kinda like it cause some people do not care about famous people. That's all I can add maybe you were a celeb?

I don't have Late Night or Showtime. But my Sim does know quite a lot of people across town.

It depends on the specific kind of insult you're talking about, but 'berate ignorance' is due to the nerd social trait from University. When sims are dressed 'inappropriately' (wearing sleepwear around the house for example - especially if it's not their house) they will get pointed to and laughed at.

If your sim just gets pointed at and laughed at for no discernible reason, some people believe that this is a bug that has attached itself to your sim. You can try evicting them to the clipboard then moving them back into their house, but it's been widely reported that this gets rid of that behavior temporarily and it cones back eventually.

There is a mod at TFNs Sims Asylum (registration required to download) by Shimrod that attempts to get rid of some of the mean interactions (only when they're not trait-related). I found that it helps a lot.

Where are we going, and why am I in this hand basket?!

I would love to get rid of some of this nonsense from my game so I just went and dug through all his mods twice and somehow still managed not to find that one. I did find a few I had overlooked before but do you have a direct link?

Thanks for the recommendation. Anyway, the kind of insult I'm talking about is the 'Insult' interaction that's available under 'Mean…' when talking to other Sims. Also, the insult is almost always the same: the speech bubble shows a picture of a brain with a big red slash over it. Probably a bug.

@TinySpaceFox That's Berate Ignorance from University Life. Also @BSIRegina there is a mod at MTS to disable that.
No autonomous berate ignorance and practice school cheer

@TinySpaceFox That's Berate Ignorance from University Life.

Ah, I see. Thanks for the clarification and for the recommendation. I thought it was just a regular insult at first since it simply shows up as 'Listen to Insult' for the Sim on the receiving end.

Aw, thank you! I was thinking of something else, then, since I don't have UL, in that sometimes a Sim walks up to another and for no apparent reason (no traits, etc.) just starts laying into a Sim.

Maybe a negative romantic reputation? I heart then the sim will have some negative reactions from the neighbours.
*but i read you does not have "showtime", so idk if romance was added before that.

    Yep
It's an interaction that can kill sim relationships.

It's also a thing that I do irl and online.

Sure! It's got a rather offbeat name, which is probably why you missed it. You can download it here: http://simsasylum.com/tfm/index.php?/topic/7260-awareness-animations-disabled/

Aw, thank you! I'll give it a go when I next play and see how it works out. I'm still finding things here and there that I think need nerfed.
