Disconnect between time of day and lighting for that time?

Just wondering if anyone else has experienced this... I wanted to take pictures of a build at night and had my tester sims living there. I amped up the game speed and noticed that when 9pm rolled around, it still wasn't very dark. I noticed the contrast because I had just saved the build to my library and had toggled the time to night while in build mode. It was much darker than night appeared in live mode. I continued to forward the time to see if it would get somewhat darker beyond 9pm, but it didn't. I switched to build mode, and build mode showed the time setting as evening, not night. In the past, when I've switched from live mode to build mode, the times have been in sync, but now they weren't. I hit the night setting in build mode, and sure enough, it was much darker. I exited the game and repaired it, and I've tried a couple more times but with the same results. The times don't seem to be in sync between live and build mode, and live mode lighting seems to be getting stuck.

Try resetting your sims 4 folder and see if that helps. To do that, move your sims 4 folder ( that is in Documents -Electronic Arts - then the sims 4 folder is there ) to the desktop. Then start the game, and a new sims 4 folder will be generated. Exit the game and then add back the "options.ini" file and the "saves" , "screenshots" "tray" "custom music " and "mods" folders from the desktop sims 4 folder to the new sims 4 folder, replacing the new generated file/ folders with the old file/folders.

Update - I don't think this is a game corruption or bug per se. I've worked out what's happening. In live mode, lighting changes seem to indicate a change in the time of day. For instance, at 5am in the morning in live mode, artificial lights turn off, and the sun starts to rise, which would seem to indicate morning. However, build mode doesn't recognize that it's morning until 6am (not a big difference, I'll grant you). Build mode recognizes afternoon at 1pm (again not a problem). Build mode doesn't recognize evening until 8pm, whereas in live mode, lighting changes (and common sense) seem to indicate it at 6pm. Build mode also doesn't recognize night then until 12am, whereas in live mode, lights come on at 9pm. The evening and especially the night discrepancies are what throw me, and I could swear that they weren't there in the past, but it's not something I really ever studied/tested before, so unless someone else has noticed this as a difference as well, I'm inclined to drop it at this point.

Thankyou for posting the update on your testing, and explaining the differences between when live and build mode recognise the certain times of the day. By understanding the differences, simmers can see why there are sometimes differences when they go from live mode to build mode.
