If I'm being honest, I think Miss Derby in Legacies of the Sims (Season 1) sets the tone for this earlier part of the story very well. I can't say I like her, but her self-centeredness, pleasure in seeing children suffer, and her love for cheese and wine collectively creates a character that is very unique and is quite instrumental to the story. She's definitely someone that sets many readers' blood boiling!
Yes! She's so fully realized! I love that she adores Roman Holiday! Such a lonely woman.
I am so drawn to Shaela. I think it's because she embodies qualities that I wish I had and that I want to nurture in myself: courage, strength, loyalty (well, I have loyalty), bravery.
She also has such integrity and a fascinating type of vulnerability.
I keep thinking of Chiron, the Wounded Healer. She's got that Wounded Warrior archetype going on--but there's definitely some healing energy in her, too.
(I'm only on Ch. 29, where she's starting her recovery, so there's lots more to her for me to find out.)
I love Melody in F.I.S.H. I love her defiance to certain situations, it'd very comical to me. And her attitude just draws me into the story. And little cute Stefan's child remarks, Crack me up every time!! Lol
In F.I.S.H I loved the grandfather! He just encompasse's what you think of when you hear grandpa. I may be read in to much into it but I feel like he has a secret he's hiding. I would love to learn some more about him.
Ooooh! Now, this is a new one! Why do you think that?

Well River is looking for people involved in the sim trafficing and when Melody went to see her dad he was so preoccupied with his computer. I don't know if I just look for twist and surprises, but I thought what if that's what he was dealing with when she cam over! I guess he so nice and a bit not there because he's secretly running this whole scheme. Sorry this is just how my mind works lol

If you've read my stories you've probably noticed that I tend to have strong female characters. Those are always my favorite, so that's the type of Sim I tend to create. And I have to say that I love that about Grace in @RoryGilmore's story. I'm not very far into Ironbound yet, but I can already see that there are a couple of strong female characters there. I will always route for these characters. So that is an aspect that I love about both of these stories already.
I'm really drawn to @Munterbacon 's Nakaia, she's such a fascinating and mysterious character. She's always socialising with others and yet there's so little that we know about what's going on her mind!

@Jes2G 's writing is so moving. As her families grow and I read about every individual character, I come to have compassion and care for each one. Her writing is just so moving.

This is one of the main reasons why I'm drawn to her legacy. It's captivating how she captures the perfect moments be good or bad, and turns them into something special.

For me, the moment I became head-over-heels sold on Ironbound was when Nakaia was introduced--those descriptions of her singing. At that point, I set aside all Simness and just looked at this as SciFi. I think that's why I'm finding such a rekindled joy of reading through it.

I so agree. I love the appreciation given to each moment. I love the family feel--all the attention to the tiny details that make up a day and a life.
I would say a character that stands out to me is Grace from @Rorygilmore34 story. Morality has always been a subject I've liked and Grace hits a nice balance of it for me. On one hand she's at heart a good person, but she's also got that rough edge to her because of all the things that have happened to her. She isn't perfect and she isn't completely good but that to me is part of what makes her an interesting character.
Also Shaela from @munterbacon story Ironbound. Though that is more to do with she is the type of strong and loyal character that I always enjoy in sci fi or fantasy stories.

@AuroraLockwood Thank you for your compliment about Grace. It's like she's tring to find a balance, a state of grace, (name pun intended) as she discovers who she is. But with stealing Miss Derby's money and statue, she's starting to slide.

Not to mention the thoughts of revenge burning in her heart....
But grace comes when we've fallen. That's part of what grace is.
Speaking of morality....Another thing about Grace is that she's an example of what could happen without any kind of moral guidance. She was pretty much rotting away in that orphanage for 18 years with no loving, guiding hand to teach her right from wrong. True, after a certain age everyone knows stealing, killing, etc. is wrong, but...I can see how it would be easy for her to drift to the dark side.

Yes, I feel this way entirely about her. I find that chapter of her as a teen so heart-breaking, actually. In fact, the shift after she hears her friend lie... all of that really breaks my heart. This sweet, innocent girl, and then, she just hardens in hate.
I really feel that it shows what can happen with neglect and without being loved. I almost can't even think about the story because I find it so heart-breaking--I do that thing I do with "Willow's Way" sometimes where I just focus on a little detail, like looking for the calico cat, or thinking how cute Chompy is, or thinking about the train, all so that I don't have to actually think and feel what is really going on, which is just so painful.
"Shut up, Stuart!" (See? I am a lot like Colleen!)
I love lurking in this thread! Hahaha. I am very slow -- I've only just caught up with @Rorygilmore34 's story and am 3 chapters away from getting caught up with @Jes2G 's (love them both!). Hopefully I will have time to read the others by the end of the week!

I honestly don't think I could ever do that. As odd as it may sound I like the pain. When a story can make my heart ache, or make me really feel for the character, or make me cry, or best of all just leave me sitting there in shock thinking about what just happened, then that is a moment that the story really hits a new level for me. Those are the moments in stories I live for.
That's actually how I gauge my own writing as well. If I can make myself feel while writing even knowing whats going to happen ahead of time then I feel like I have succeeded as a writer.
edit: And sorry, I just realized I got off topic when this is supposed to be about the weeks stories. My apologies.
