Can't play, update or repair

The latest update was taking a very long time to install, whereas previous updates only took a few minutes, so I restarted my computer. Now Sims 4 is greyed out, there is no option to repair or update.
I have no mods or cc.
Anyone help please? I am technologically challenged, so in simple terms, what should I do?

Hello
Come out of Origin.
Shut down your computer completely again. Start the computer. Then log in Origin and see if you can press play.
If you still can't do that, delete the origin cache files.

If you still have problems, uninstall and reinstall origin.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled Origin. Same problem, Sims 4 is greyed out.

Log out of Origin.
Go to task manager and see if Sims 4 is running. If it running, stop it. If you have windows 7, open task manager by right clicking the task bar. Then log back into Origin.

If it is not running, move your sims 4 folder ( that is in Documents -Electronic Arts - then the sims 4 folder is there ) to the desktop.
Then log back into Origin and see if that helps.

Tried that, it didn't work. Spoke to someone from Origin, he said to do a clean reboot on computer, assured me it would fix the problem, it didn't. May have to reinstall.

I am sorry. You may need to uninstall and reinstall the game. Make sure that the copy of your sims 4 folder is still on your desktop before you uninstall. That contains your save game files, mods, and builds/sims that are in your library.
