How Does My Sim Collate Research?

I did a search of the forum and didn't find an answer, so I'm throwing out a general appeal. My Sim uses the Science machine to increase his Science skill and gets the Want to 'Collate Research' - and I can't figure out how to get him to do it. It isn't an option on the machine or on the whiteboard or on the computer; I've tried clicking on my Sim and on his phone to no avail! So, can anyone tell me how to get my Sim to Collate Research so he can fulfill his Want?
