Unable to Invent

I thought I would post this over here since it seems to be unresolved, but there's an issue with the Invention Constructor as posted in the Get to Work forums: (forums.thesims.com/en_US/discussion/825533/unable-to-invent)

"I have my Sim in the Scientist career (serum sequencer) and I'm unable to invent on the Invention Construtor - the only options that come up are Tinker and Chat with Robot as well as Put Device in Inventory (but that's greyed out). He's had 8 brainwave thingys and has inventions in his notepad (as well as all materials needed to make said inventions), but alas, no inventing is happening - VERY hard doing the tasks at work with this not working!"

It's not just me, as another Simmer has the same problem, and "Repairing Game" does not fix this :(

I ve got the same bug, the invention constructor thing was working fine until my sim reached 8 breakthroughs and now the option to invent has disappeared. I m gutted was loving this career, now it's hard to complete work tasks. Any ideas anyone?

I had the same problem until I realised that the Hover lamp was still in the machine. I took it out and now he's able to invent again.

What if something's stuck that you can't get out of the machine? I have a Sim Ray that I can't drag out, and now I can't do my other job wishes. :(

Hello @wendebird.

Come out of the game and then restart the game and see if that helps.
Or wait to the next workday, and see if the issue has been fixed and that you can drag the simray out.

Repairing the game may help. To do that, right click on the sims 4 picture in Origin and click repair.

Also delete the cache files

If you continue to have problems, start a new game file, have your sim join the science career, go with him to work. Enter the cheat code bb.enablefreebuild Save a copy of the science lot to your library. Then go back to your current lot, go to work with your sim and type in the cheat code again and download the new lot from your library to your current game.

I completely forgot about the Hover Lamp! Thank you joepeca27 :) lol the lamp also fits so neatly in the middle that I mistook it for a part of the Invention Constructor itself.

What I did was delete the Invention Constructor in build mode, and put out another one right where it was and the actions on it work now. Make sure to enable ' bb.ignoregameplayunlocksentitlement ' cheat if it does not allow you to buy that item.

I deleted the item and replaced it with another one. worked for me

For me, it helped to just go to build mode then back to live mode.
