The Future of Sims/Life Simulation?

I have been pondering the web and talking with some people about a new game "Cities: Skylines" here is the trailer if you are curious.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0gI2N10QyRA

Now to me and others, this game looks very promising, something like SimCity, but improved. The reviews of this game is really positive, and the bugs are at a very minimal.

Could competition be a good thing? What could this mean the future of a Life Simulation game? Comparing this to the Sim series, do you think that nothing can keep up with the ground breaking series we all love?

Keep is civil please, and really discuss it xD

Considering that there is overwhelming support for the devs and it isn't overpriced at all, I do think that they could make a sims game that is really amazing.

    Sims need a competition.
    I'm serious.
We need a game that would push a better quality product from Maxis.

Before someone spits on me, let me remind you.
DA2 was a garbage of a game. Competition stepped in (Skyrim, Deus Ex: Human Revolution and The Witcher 2).
DA3 was made, it's a game loved by both critics and the audience.
    Just because competition existed.

Ground breaking lol?! Sims used to be ground breaking but now with Sims 4.... they took a massive step back.... and one of the main reason they could do that is because they have no viable competition. They can skimp as much content, charge us for whatever and still get away with it because we have no other choices. The trailer does look promising but I'm more interested in a game closer to the actual Sims than SimCity.... Hopefully if all goes well, this company would be able to do that.

I'm all for this. The game looks amazing and a healthy competition is a win, win for everyone. It's def time for options for us consumers and I can def get behind a studio like this...

I agree Maxis needs some competition if for no other reason than to push them for higher quality and more content.

Unfortunately, it appears to me that this company is simply capitalizing off what was already accomplished by Sim City. It looks almost exactly like Sim City 4 which I have but haven't played it in a long time so I could be mistaken.

This game is amazing. Even LGR said it's better than even the best SimCity, and he loves that series. I hope this company can make a life simulation game. Or any other company really, we desperately need options.

This amazing youtuber. He reviewed all The Sims expansions, I thought most would know him.

I believe that the company that made this game is relatively small, but with the success of this game, it could mean that they could expand into other types of games. If enough people back it up, there are many possibilities.

Sorry but no. I know about Total Biscuit, Angry Joe and Francis.
    They review games. Not DLC.

That other guy I've never heard of before.
Then again... I'm avoiding youtube most of the time so it's not something odd. :D

I'm sorry, LGR reviews all sorts of games too, not just DLC. But I'm not here to go off topic and fight for him. Those wo know him know how his opinions in maxis games are relevant.

But it's not offtopic - you stated he likes this new simulation game which in a way shows that having competition rocks.
WOuld be nice to hear his words about possible Sims competition, but well... This'll do.

It's REALLY good. I personally think it surpasses sc4.

Checked it out, but it seems it is only for the UK and does not say what platform it plays on.

I'm in America and bought it. It might've been my VPN however. It plays on Windows, Mac, and Linux.

It's a PC game, you can get it on Steam.

I have it, but I haven't had time to play it, need to finish something and then I need a nap...

Thanks, I didn't see a way to but it though and get a physical copy.

When you get a chance to play it let us know how it plays. I be interested in knowing. Although I might just go ahead and buy it.

Just compare the average reviews.... It blows Sims 4 out of the water!

Competition is healthy! I'm sick of being taken advantage of with The Sims series. The lack of innovation is just making me sad.
