When I usually get bored in the Sims 4 I just buy a new game pack or expansion pack this gives me more things to do in the game and keeps me entertained for a few weeks or even moths

Challenges aren't really working and making awesome families isn't either. Not hating on the game, I sometimes just don't know what to do
There are mods for the game that can let you have events such as funerals, proms and sleepovers, as well as jobs like fashion designer or model or something. Maybe messing around with them could be interesting? If not, buying a new expansion pack or game pack I'll work if you want to spend the money.
The fact of the matter is, if I can still get bored even with having MCCommand Center and all these other pure scripting mods installed, it might be due to the complete lack of content in the Sims 4. I'm not talking about furniture type content (I am tired of all the furniture) I mean stuff that brings liveliness to the game. City Living was a good start,(cats and dogs was super disappointing in my opinion but animals were necessary) we need EPs not little game packs. Where is weather/seasons? What about World Adventures? (which I heard something similar was coming out soon but I think it's going to be a little GP like the camping one) Laundry Day stuff? That is a pack we voted on and I think it screams 'CONTENT PLEASE' from the gamers. I want an Into the Future and an Island Paradise and some cars. This Sims 4 game is bare-boned and it still manages to take up 26GB of disk space on my Mac. I feel 🐸🐸🐸🐸 out of my money and honestly, I would suggest playing TS3 for a while...

Haha, I don't think the OP will see your response. They haven't been back since 2016.
Kind of in the same boat but I got an idea from someone else, I mostly just do my one house but I think I might try to design houses for the whole world and design all sorts of different people to put in the neighborhood. Also I like to write stories so I don't just "play" but I have a story in my head. Sometimes the game is too limited for me and I haven't really gotten into mods yet but there aren't enough clothes and stuff. I also play runescape. I flip between the two when I get bored of one they kind of feed on different parts of the brain. I can be more creative on sims.
Do Sims Challenges!! There are HUNDREDS of them. Here's a link to some challenges but here are some of my favorites:
- Teen Runaway challenge
- Rags to riches (make a poor sim and work to get him/her rich.
- 100 Baby challenge
Personally, while it can be tiring, I like to add families to each of the homes. I use a randomizer app to figure out how many sims will be in the household, genders, couples, kids, pets, etc. When I grow bored with my family, I use the randomizer again to pick a random household to play. I'll play them for a few in game sim days and move to a different one. It's fun for some reason, not sure why but it makes it feel like a real world. I'll play upon their traits and such and it makes it that much more interesting.
For example, one time I picked a random household. There was a couple. The father was family oriented while the mother was noncommittal and hated kids. They had a child together, ending up having twin boys which was rare for me in game. The dad was happy but the mom wasn't, so she left him alone with the twins. The mom I had move to a different household where she was living with a girl who had a daughter. Ended up loving the daughter like her own. Daughter grows up, finds a guy and they eventually gets married. The mom of the twins goes to the wedding, only to find out that the girl was marrying was her son. Literally just happened since they met at a bar when they were older and really hit it off. That was pretty fun.

TS4's main draw is CAS, the many clothing options (for females, anyway), and the graphics. So, in order to have any fun with the game, I turned it into a back drop for a story that I've been working on. It's a decent vehicle for storytelling. Especially, if you make use of the many, many poses that there are in the community.
That's how it has worked for me. But if it's game play that you need, I think the best advice that you've gotten so far is the one that came from the person who said go that you should go back to one of the earlier games.
When people get bored with the Sims game they come to this forum and talk about the game. Then when they get bored with the forum they go back and play the game again. it's a circle. but it works lol
we'll give you a full refund. Just make sure you make your request within 24 hours after you first launch the game, within seven days from your date of purchase, or within seven days from the game's release date if you pre-ordered, whichever comes first.

This is what I did in Sims 2, but I'm not sure whether it is applied to Sims 4. Trying to add a flexibility to businesses I have owned such as a variety of restaurants like American cafe, beaches restaurant, Michellin star, open-air, etc. Another type of businesses are casino, club (I mean traditional British club - townies are not allowed), department stores, and a bank (sells Silver, money pile, and gold etc.)

I try to build houses and sims/families that are different to my usual. You find yourself doing things similarly, using similar designs/colours/personalities so I try to do something different and that sometimes alters the experience. But you can always have a break from it and you will soon get the sim fever again!
Also, I go to school so I only play the game during my winter and summer breaks (basically 3 months in a year in total). I think of things to do when I'm not playing the game, so I suggest to take a break from the game for a while until you feel interested enough to play again.
You could play a different game, read some books, pick up a hobby. The possibilities are endless. And you'll feel the need to go back to The Sims sooner than you realise.
When I get bored with a certain game I switch to another. My main game is Guild Wars 2 but I've been bored with it for several months, so I've been playing Sims 4.
Sims 4 is like a puzzle to me - it does so many odd things.
I'm trying to figure out game-generated vampires right now. They walk around the neighborhood all night but rarely stop to talk to anyone, much less each other. Many of them seem to be avid karaoke singers but I rarely see them anywhere else, except for maybe one that turns up late at night at the Art Centers. They are a very reclusive bunch. I used to see them more often, now it's like they're not even part of the game.
Most of them have a level 4 skill - usually Painting or Cooking. Most of them are unemployed, although I recently found one that was placed at Level 7 of the Astronaut Career. Make that two - another was at the top of the Secret agent career.
I have found several game-generated Grand Master Vampires that have hundreds of unspent Power Points - one has 688. I'd like to know the secret of how they got those points. Must be all the walking they have to do.
And here's another thing - My Sim with the Genius trait gets a job in the Scientist career. Out of the hundreds of Sims in my game, the game chooses the Caliente sisters to work at the Science lab and townies that have the Goofball trait and Friend of the World aspiration.
Sims 4 is like a giant puzzle. I feel like the RCA dog when I see it at work sometimes. So, I'll play it for awhile and then go on to something else or back to GW2. There are too many games out there to stay bored for long. I don't think any game can hold anyone's attention forever.
Sometimes, I'll play a sim that came with the game and give them makeovers, and makeover their houses. Make sure they are in the job that they want etc

I do that and change my gameplay.
Saying "not to be rude", then blatently being rude does not excuse rude behavior.
