I oil the leather at least once a year to keep it supple, and used to keep it on blank journals. Haven't journaled in...well not much since my mother died. But I still wouldn't part with that leather journal cover. Far cheaper, thin, flimsy items of a similar nature, I think even by the same maker, were at every bookstore for a while, but this one, I never saw another like it, and it's built to pass down. Even though now I want to burn all my old journals because who wants a record of their own stupidity?

Black as the raven's wing. And sense of humor is #2 on the list with intelligence, though maybe #1 because someone smart with no sense of humor is the worst kind of bore imaginable. But usually people who are genuinely highly intelligent and not just a package of facts, have the best senses of humor of anybody I ever met. So the two seem to go together. Put black hair on that and that's my kryptonite. I'm shallow that way.
