Hi. I'm so envious of all of you that can build nice houses. I can't! I've tried several times, even going after official floorplans never turn out nice for me.
Wow, some of your houses are sooo big! (But extremely pretty!) Doesn't it take your sims forever to cross it?
I prefer tiny one-story homes, (or I make homes with like, a "closed restaurant" or similar downstairs and home upstairs.
My newest home, however was just a sort of eco-colour, small home.
One of my fav homes I made to look like a sort of ... cafe/diner but with a tiny apartment in the back. Of course it wasn't a diner, but it was made to look like a diner made into a home, or a diner that was forever closed but someone still lived there, haha.. i dunno.
I dunno why I can't find any good pics of this home anymore, but here are some random images of it atleast.
some cat visited for like three days, haha.
The bedroom/livingroom was in the "back", and the kitchen/diner was in the front.
There was also a sort of "aquarium" in her bedroom/livingroom
Crummy pictures, but I still got several copies of the house atleast so not all is lost!
I'm not usually very good at building but I was pleased with the way this little starter home turned out for my sim.
It's a bit small for taking anything but above pictures of the entire house. My Sim broke the shower just before I took the above shot.
My sim was very persistent with wanting to through a pool party so I built him a small one and landscaped the back yard.
The little building houses the bar that he practices his Mixology skills on, his Science research center and last but not least is where Bonehilda lives.
Love it,everything about this house is awesome.Great starter home, only thing I would change is maybe make the pool a bit longer.Good job on the house.
Lol I live in one of the default houses so I can't say I built my own. I'm thinking about starting my own house today, though. Once I can post pictures I'll show it off.
I love all the houses! I am not good at building houses, just furnishing them ;) If I ever do make my own house, and I can finally post pictures, I will definitely do that. Good job everyone!
I'm currently am working on what I call "The Beast" - a supersized mansion that has taken over (about 90%) Mosquito Cove! The Beast has a gym, an indoor pool (let it snow outside!), an arcade, a library, seven bedrooms, five and a half bathrooms, a music room, and many more. Originally I planned to build The Beast as a four level house, but with all the available space, I cut it down to only three! Only a space of 15x15 (approx) remains in the lower-left corner of the lot! I currently have the car parked AND a temporary -VERY TEMPORARY- house for my Sim (Sheila) - only one sim at this time thankfully!
As work continues on The Beast, I have Sheila living in a teeny-tiny house that I called it the "This House Su cks!" home for the simple fact that I kept saying it over and over as I was building this little nightmare of a house. The plan is to get The Beast finished then tear down This House Su cks and use the space for better car parking.
I haven't gotten around to taking screenshots of The Beast, since it's a work in progress - plus some of the rooms had to be shifted around for better space usage.
This House Su cks is so small, it doesn't even have a living room! It was designed to be temporary housing only while you built your dream home. Although if you decided to use it as a starter, I guess it MAY work as long as you have ONLY ONE sim.
I built one on an empty (20x30) lot before and even threw in a car-park spot with it. Only §10257 and it's yours.

Making low-budget housing is always a challenge for me. I created one on a lot that was 10 X 15. Really small, but has a nice feel to it. I call them starter homes.
Ck213 that house is friggin sweet.Bonus points for adding a person wearing clothes from the India set My favorite.Anyway the personal winery is awesome, you just need some oompa loompas to work it then open a business. The pic at night with the Christmas lights is my favorite.
I thought I'd post the house I'm working on. Or was working on, I'll get back to it, but I'm building a bakery/cafe right now because I felt like it, and I'm trying to get one story I'm doing going again and another started, so it might be a few more days before I get back to it. It was one I was building to possibly use in one of my stories, but I realized I've already written it customized to their current house and I don't want to rewrite it as I'm happy with the parts where the current house design is necessary. I could possibly build the necessary features into the house, but I don't think it would look nice so I won't bother.
I got a bit carried away with the CC, I needed windows but I grabbed a bunch more. I did so well with staying away from build/buy CC for so long. I just have my kinda sucky photo's from my facebook (like it's not good to the quality of them). I'm too lazy to deal with uploading them elsewhere (also the forums are giving me trouble when I upload where I usually do. So hopefully these ones actually work)
huh... I seem to be missing some photos. I'll try to find them later. But it is mainly the bedrooms I have done. A couple more bathrooms (though they're pretty similar, minimally different), a tiny bit of the living room and the kitchen/dining area.
I feel like I do a better job decorating than building. It takes me DAYS for get rooms just how I want them. I need to start screenshotting my designs more often, but I do have a few from my favorite patio/dining room area in a small beach home I remodeled.
This is the house I am currently saving for. My sims will be adopting to get the large family they want
Living area.
Kitchen with large island good for a huge family of kids lol
Dining room, I made the chairs match the feature wall in the kitchen.
The only bedroom downstrairs, sort of a "guest" room.
Level 1 of the house with all walls up.
Unisex nursery.
Master bedroom.
Master bath. with separate shower and tub so no run ins when in a hurry in the mornings lol
Level 2 of the house all walls up.
The back yard.

Serving bar.
The view.
Wow! Love your designs!! Every detail is beautiful! Would love to see more! I am also wondering if you have used CCs? Maybe some of the paintings are?

The dinning room looks very comfortable to dine in! The nursery room is adorable too!
I have just finished my latest project and here are the rest of the rooms
I moved the house to Bridgeport to get better lighting. I originally designed the house to be in dense urban area anyway. Its back was supposed to be facing a quiet street while its front connects to a busier block.
I combined the kitchen and the dinning room. The room is not big but I tried my best to make it look spacious.
I don't want the cabinets blocking the view from the kitchen to the dinning area, I also wanted the cook to be able to see the pool while cooking,. So I used the small cabinets from ITF attached to the wall by the passage instead of being above the counters.
Apparently I forgot about the fire alarm lol. It will be nice to be able to watch the street while chopping vegetables.
Open shelf, so that the small room doesn't seem to be over stuffed. Too bad the game comes with insufficient kitchen supply decorations.
Here is the open study outside the bedroom on the second floor.
The bedroom door:
The bedroom. The bathroom is behind the wall. Thanks to ITF, we are finally able to have "paintings" as tall as the wall to bring in some modern vibe.
This corner is good for deep thinking or lying on the carpet doing nothing.
The full window in the bedroom frames the fall view perfectly.
The bath with a free standing bath tub. I painted the ceiling with clouds so that it appears higher and relaxing.
The exteriors. Unfortunately Bridgeport is very packed and I couldn't find a more satisfying spot to place the lot. The current area is not central enough.
My sims were supposed to be able to see a starry sky filled with high rise buildings at night but now only 2 high-rises will do...
Just got back into Sims 3 ... Loading everything on to a new computer and starting from scratch again.
I like to build houses as much as playing the game, but I test my houses before I upload them.
Since it is all new again ... I needed to make a "lot tester" and they have to have jacked up skills to test a whole lot.
I don't use mods to advance the skills, so I had to make a quick training house for my tester.
I cannot wait to get back in the grove of Sims 3 ... There is a lot of new stuff to learn with the additional EP's I got ...
500 Sunnyside Lot - Sunset Valley
The Lazy Lizard is a house made for one Sim (could suit a couple or close friends) with the basics for advancing skills.
I made it quick (about 2-3 hours) so it isn't fancy ... There is consistency in décor because the "Beautiful Décor" buff with help gain lifetime points while you are gaining skills. It is the same with the incense burners (every point counts when building a new Sim).
There is also a pool and hangout area for advancing friends throwing parties and whatnot.
Inside the working, kitchen and dining area are small but sufficient.
The bedroom/mainroom is broken down into three parts that join in one large area.
Then there is a basement for gardening and nectar making.
There is another basement area for when you have a party with guests ... Complete with a dance floor and bar.
Everybody has some neat houses their Sims live in.
Good Luck With Your Sims ... Happy Simming ... And Have A Lovely Afternoon ...

But...before that I was really enjoying my sims in this home while working on the rules for my Bachelor challenge.
Nice build! Where did you get those two-story arches from?
They came with Roaring Heights.
