Perhaps this didn't deserve its own posting but I'm going to say it anyway. No one on this site has the right to call anyone a sheep or anything else for that matter. Do I have to remind you that each and everyone of us on this site has picked up and played a sims game and became a fan at some point; if not, we wouldn't be here.
That being said, the name calling is getting ridiculous. Everyone here either borrowed the sims and or bought it. You did that on your own will did you not? So why does the same not apply for those who choose to do it now? What, because it's missing the features you wanted in the game so those who are satisfied with it thus far are sheep? So basically you would've been a sheep too had they included the things you wanted? BAhhhhhhhlogne!
shee·ple

nouninformalderogatory
people compared to sheep in being docile, foolish, or easily led.
Each one of us started playing the series because we wanted to, not because EA took a staff and smacked us on the bottom with it. We all have a choice to continue to buy and play, or not. It's that simple. Several of you are calling others 🐸🐸🐸🐸 when you have signed petitions and changed your avatars to go along with certain protests. What does that say about you and how easily you are led? Pot, meet kettle.
I believe everyone's decision on this should be respected. If you choose not to buy, great choice, if you've chosen to buy, great choice but let it be your own decision and stop with the name calling and cutting others down, please.

People buying a game they haven't actually seen yet (remember the first game play video is still 2 weeks away) and aware of more features being cut, rather than added, most definitely fall in this group.
The game MAY BE INCREDIBLE. However, assuming you want to play the actual game, at least WAIT UNTIL YOU SEE it before you make that judgment. The term "sheep" is invalidated once we actually can make a reasonable judgment whether to buy or not. That is why people are using this term!
However, your not entirely innocent in this. Over in the thread that BlackPlumbob asked if people are happy with the game now, you were cutting people down over them not wanting to buy the game even after a video and demo comes out. It doesn't matter that the people who don't like it started it, once you start attacking their opinions, your stage as a victim is lost.
So the people calling each other names do need to stop. But you do too simmadness24.
Honestly, I wouldn't care what people say about you, especially here. I've preordered, and I don't give a crap who says what or calls me anything. My money, my enjoyment.
If there's no purpose of the post, why are you responding to it? If I don't feel a post has purpose, I simply skip over it. You can't call someone a name that doesn't define them. Some of us have been playing a long, long time and will continue to do so because it is a hobby or an interest of ours, just like you like doing the things you like to do. That doesn't make us a sheep, that makes us interested in something we've enjoyed for years. Your opinion isn't fact.
but they can manipulate you through marketing/pR/etc

Feel free to quote me. I wasn't cutting anyone down, I stated that I wondered how many people that were against the game would watch and download the demo. I too have been a fan of rousing up a crowd but you won't find me calling someone a name. 8)
love this and realy whise words :P thanks i will keep that in mind :P
I'm a lover of sims and have been since day one. That is all. They haven't manipulated me into anything because since day one, I made a choice that I will play and like the sims and several of us here have as well.

That said... I 100% agree...
bflury, have you ever gone into a grocery store and purchased something you liked? Perhaps an apple, or ice cream. You bought it because you know that you like apples and ice cream. Did you 'try it before you bought it?' no, because you were familiar with the product you were buying so much that you took it home and ate it. I know what the sims games are like enough to know that I will enjoy this one. Many of the features that I've loved over the years are still the same.
I'm a lover of the sims as well but the quality of the sims franchise is on the decline and the sims 4 is making light of that. I don't think I've seen this much outrage over a game even when the sims 3 came out. what they are doing to the sims 4 is totally s.hitty and totally opposite of where the game should be heading. and this is the part where the forum divides. the ~sheep~ think the sims 4 is revolutionary because EA says so. we ~whiny b.itches~ think the sims 4 is unfinished, several years backwards and we see EA's bull.**** a mile away.
I've been playing this game since day one so none of those tactics have effected me. I was never manipulated into buying this game which is what I'm trying to tell you guys. Every single one of us in this forum has bought this game on our own free will. If we no longer like something, by all means, please stop supporting it. But don't dis the people who still enjoy it.
It's a real shame people design covers with the intention of the product being judged by them.
I really liked that first article. It kind of reminded me of The Sims 4, with the "reach out and touch" being the CAS demo as one example.
I don't think any of us have a leg to stand on anymore. In life you can't count on anyone else to change, all you can do is be an example to others.
I agree. I've been a fan for 14 years and it has changed. However, I still enjoy the same features that attracted me to the game. I also respect those who don't want to buy it, I just think the name calling is unnecessary.
I don't consider it a cardboard box because it still has many of the features I've enjoyed for years. Like that apple, I think it looks/tastes delicious. Now, I could get an apple that looks great but is rotten on the inside, and I could get an apple that is ripe and ready to eat. The point is, no matter what it's like AFTER I purchase it, I still only purchased it because I wanted to, and not because someone else told me to. Unlike some people, I don't need to wait for reviews and such. That's just me though.
lol this tactics affect EVERYONE in our everyday lives. Through commercials, billboards, texts, w/e or wherever a business can put up their product to force into your mind. like an ear worm and we consumers believe wow, that looks so cool I want that but do we need it? nah who cares, I just want it.
I absolutely guarantee with my whole life and soul and future lives and money and everything that we are all victims of media and advertising manipulation IN EVERYTHING. food, games, movies, cars, insurance. EVERYTHING. this is where consumers need to get smart to make sure businesses don't keep manipulating us with c.rap products for inflated prices. business work for us. we're the consumer, if we don't buy their products, their business will fail. but if we continue to buy bad products they'll continue to manipulate and exploit us because why not? hell if i were EA I'd be doing the same thing lol
pretty sure sims 4 is gonna sell millions cause it's the sims 4 but I will be side eying the people who buy it thinking its going to be an actual quality product when even the gurus know it isn't lol.
Not really. I don't own a TV and didn't even know that EA paid for a billboard when TS3 arrived. Like I mentioned, some of us have been a fan for years. It doesn't take marketing to convince me to like/buy a game I've known about since the 90s. I didn't even know about TS4 until a friend told me. I then already knew that I would get it because again...I enjoy the series. I don't have a TV so a lot of things that affect other people don't affect me the same way. To each their own.
But lets say they come out with a new flavor of ice-cream, no one's tried it but everyone's skeptical because we find out it contains less milk and more water but just because of a new flavor extract, they're charging $20 more for it. Still sure you'd like it?
On the sims forums when it starts getting to the point of having only name calling comments that is usually when I take a break. The name calling and the like does come from both sides of the debate. This is coming from someone who has decided not to buy the game, but doesn't care what others do lol.
so do you also not walk outside? do you not go into stores to buy goods, clothing, electronics? do you not ride on a bus or drive a car? or even own a bike? do you step outside of your house at all? do you have social media? do you have a phone? do you have a smart phone? do you play app games? I could go on lol.
Unless you live under a rock and someone physically comes to move your rock to tell u, psst, sims 4 is out gurl then I can see how you're not manipulated by everyday media.
but if you go outside. you're not excluded.

this is going past the sims 4 but i'm really just proving that everyone is manipulated by media and consumers need to be smart and take notice when it happens.
