Introduction

Hello and welcome to my Sunset Valley Reborn thread! I've always been a player that likes to include as much content from the expansions and store into one World as possible. Unfortunately it's difficult to keep placing lots into a World without running out of space and without getting all the lots to match and fit the same sort of theme. I decided quite some time ago that the easiest way to achieve this would be to completely wipe all the lots from one World and start afresh, rebuilding everything from the ground up with all the features we've gained over the years. I was initially intending to rebuild Hidden Springs; it's one of the nicest and most versatile environments the Gurus have given us. However, I felt Hidden Springs didn't quite cater for every eventuality; for a start there's no sandy beaches and it's not the easiest World in which to make use of the Island Paradise features. So, I settled for a World which everyone can enjoy and which also is temperate and versatile enough that it can fit just about any type of lot; Sunset Valley!

In this thread you'll be able to track my progress in rebuilding Sunset Valley from the very beginning; you'll be able to view and comment on screenshots of the lots I have built, you'll be able to get involved by suggesting lots and improvements for those I've already built, and, best of all, you'll be able to download the lots I've built to add into your very own Sunset Valley Reborn! I hope you enjoy taking this journey with me and helping me in rebuilding Sunset Valley.

    Map COMING SOON

This is the Sunset Valley Reborn map. I've taken a top down view of the World and marked out each lot on the map as a coloured block. Some of the blocks vary in colour; this is to signify either the district of the town in which the lot resides or whether the lot is community or residential. All residential lots are marked as green on the map. You may notice that at present not all the lots are listed in the map key and are therefore not assigned a particular lot type. This is because I'm still planning aspects of the World and not just where particular lots will go but which lot types will be included in the final design.

If you have any suggestions as for the placement of particular lot types or you disagree with any of the locations I have decided upon for particular lots then please let me know in the thread. As with all aspects of Sunset Valley Reborn lot locations are very much open for discussion; input from other Simmers is always appreciated!

    Planned Lots

Below is a list of lots which I currently have planned for Sunset Valley Reborn. I've divided them between rabbitholes and essential lots (eg those required for careers and basic gameplay) and stores and entertainment lots.

The list of planned lots is very much open for discussion. If you have suggestions for additional types of lot that I have not listed here or if you think there are lots of this list I could strike off then please let me know in the thread.

It's possible and also very likely that some of these lots may be merged into one. For instance, the diner will most likely feature a stage to turn it into a live show venue whilst still allowing the use of the diner on the lot as a functional rabbithole.

    Rabbitholes and Essential Lots

    1. City Hall
    2. Police Station
    3. Fire Station
    4. Science Facility - Due to the limits of SV the original lot will remain

    WIP Images

Here you'll find screenshots for any lots which I'm currently working on. As always these WIP lots are very much open for discussion so if there's anything you feel needs adding to or changing about a particular WIP lot then please let me know in the thread and it will certainly be considered.

Time to post my first WIP image of Sunset Valley Reborn!

    Screenshot-10_zps4b558984.jpg

This is the final building in a strip near City Hall. There will eventually be a building attached to the left of this one. I'm not entirely sure what this building will actually house yet; I'm thinking it may be the toy store with another store attached to the left. All the basics are there including the type of architecture I'll be using throughout the world and the paving and trees for the central area of the town.

Another WIP screenshot of the strip!

    Screenshot-11_zpsc9b8a61a.jpg

I'm pretty sure the three different units here will each become shops. I'm not quite decided one exactly which shops to make them yet however. I'm thinking towards the toy shop in the far right, a comic store in the centre, and a clothing shop on the left.

Your Sunset Valley Reborn project is great! :) it will be great to follow the progress of it and see the different lots. The WIP strip looks great. Your ideas of the type of shops that the units will be sound great.
Enjoy working on this project! :)

Thank you Rosemow! I've left this strip for now to work on the other row of shops opposite City Hall and Central Park. I'll post a WIP screenshot soon! I'm very much looking forward to seeing where this project takes me, thank you again. :)

Thank you Lucy! Do you know, I've never actually played in Twinbrook before! I'm guessing it's your favourite World? My favourite is Hidden Springs but it's let down badly by the lack of beaches. :(

Maybe that's where I get the whole beach thing from; here in England you're never more than 76 miles from the sea. Sims do do some strange things but more often than not it's funny to watch.

I haven't seen this thread but I'd certainly love to if you could find a link? If it was possible to have a sandy beach with a pier in Hidden Springs then I would most likely vacate Sunset Valley and work there instead; I far prefer Hidden Springs and Sunset Valley doesn't really have the best layout to work with. :(

    Well I promised one more image for the night so here it is;

    Screenshot-12_zps1fcebd55.jpg

It's the second strip I'll be creating for Sunset Valley Reborn and it will feature the comic store, a coffee shop, and has two other units available for other stores. There will be a small parking area situated to the back of the lot so that Sims visiting the town centre will be able to use their own vehicles.

    Here you go....

This may just send you running back to HS LOL

You know I'm SO SO tempted to to HS instead of SV. HS has always been my favourite World and despite the lack of sandy beaches there's still plenty of possible activities for the Summer in HS. I'm actually building up a mockup lot in HS as I type to see whether or not I prefer building there instead. I'm using the same basic concepts as the strips I was working on for SV. Screenie:

    Screenshot-14_zpsb84884f9.jpg

What do you think? Should I vacate the sunny shores of Sunset Valley for the glorious mountains of Hidden Springs?

I have to say those towns do look quite similar to the image I have in my mind for Hidden Springs. I am seriously considering changing over to HS now lol. I'll finish off this lot then I'll make my mind up. I just feel that (now that I've started looking seriously at it) that the SV layout isn't very good and there aren't enough larger lots. HS has a good layout and features quite a lot of larger lots too.

Hidden Springs is one of my favourite worlds, and compared to Sunset Valley I'd much rather see HS reborn. The buildings and such that you've worked on so far look great, and either world you do I'm very excited to see the finished outcome!

Either world would be great! Your buildings would look great in Hidden Springs and it is a nice world. I will look forward to seeing what you decide. :)

Thank you Dubkiptz! I think the important thing here is that Hidden Springs and Sunset Valley aren't actually that dissimilar to one another; thus it's easy to fit buildings from one easily into the other. With that said I'm 98% sure that I'll end up doing Hidden Springs instead of Sunset Valley. I'm very glad that you like my WIP images, thank you very much!

Thank you Rosemow! I agree with you 100%, the buildings will fit very nicely into Hidden Springs. It's easy to incorporate them into the World but on a smaller scale to the strips I was working on in Sunset Valley which to be honest is something I would prefer.

With all that said it's time for another WIP image of the Coffee Shop I've already shown off...

Your WIP picture of the coffee shop looks great! The black trees print on the red of the wall is a great effect! The green and black of the seating looks great in the room .Great shop!

I'm unsure about the green in the Coffee Shop. The other walls are orange and red and I feel that the green looks a bit out of place. :l

Okay, I swapped the green over to the windows and put the orange in the middle. I think I'm happy with it now. :) One question; I'm sure there's a large blue community bin somewhere. I can't find it though. Any ideas?

The blue community bin could either be in buy debug or perhaps it is in world items in edit town. I hope that you can find it :)

You know I was so eager to post my screenies I forgot to check my replies!

Thank you Rosemow! I'm glad that you like the trees; my only concern is that anyone who doesn't have Seasons or hasn't registered their game won't be able to have them. :(

Thank you Yanti! I'm so pleased everyone likes it. :)

Rosemow, I'll check in buydebug again but I couldn't see it in there before. Mind, I find it SO difficult to find anything in this game; I really hope they add a search feature in TS4 and organise things a little better. :l

Latte than Life is a great coffeehouse :) Great exterior of it . The texture of the exterior looks great. It looks great how you have done the windows and window shades. The stands around the trees look great. Nice furnishing of the interior. It looks great how you have placed the seats. The shades of colours you have used look nice and the interior looks stylish. Sims will enjoy having a drink and something to eat there. :)

Thank you Rosemow! I love how you always give such an in-depth description when you comment on my work and what you think, I really appreciate it as it very much helps me understand the elements that work well, thank you. :)

Brsy; firstly, thank you so much for your comments! I would very happily link my thread in yours; infact I'll do it once I've posted this comment! I'm so pleased you like what I've done here and that you're looking forward to seeing more of my work in Hidden Springs. You're right; Hidden Springs is a beautiful World and once you get into it it does actually utilize IP incredibly well. Thank you again, and I'll have some more screenies up (of my next WIP) later today. :)

Also, thank you to everyone that has downloaded and recommended Latte Than Life already; after less than 24 hours Latte Than Life is already my most downloaded lot with (at the time of writing) 99 downloads!

I'll have more WIP screenies up tonight as I start work on the second lot for Hidden Springs Revived!
