The loss of Penny was difficult for the family even if they knew that she was together with Jacob again. Everyone grieved in their own way. Jasmine went over to tell her friend Blue Awesome all about her loss.
He found a way to comfort her.
Not too long after Penny's death it was time for Erik to age up to toddler.
Elias was happy to see his son growing up and excited to see what his wings would be like. But he couldn't help thinking how much his mother would have liked to be here.
Erik started crying because he wanted a bottle but for a moment Elias was just confused that his son's wings were black rather than red like Ivy's.
"Um, Ivy? Why are his wings a different color from yours?"
Ivy shrugged. "The genetics of wing color are complicated. Although he'll have all the abilities of a fairy technically he's only one quarter fairy. Maybe your genetics had an effect on it since you inherited being imaginary friend from your mom." When Elias still looked confused she smiled and patted him on the shoulder. Don't worry, it's not uncommon for babies to have a different wing color from their parents."
Elias smiled at her. "Kind of like eye color is more complicated than what you learn in high school biology. Annabeth got my mom's eye color and it looks like Erik got your mom's eye color."
Ivy grinned. "That's true."
Elias loved playing with his little boy.

The family was still grieving when one evening they got an unusual visitor.
Elias was just putting Erik into the high chair and had not yet seen the ghost of his mother, although she clearly saw him.
When Ivy got up from the table and saw Penny's ghost she was shocked. She didn't know what to make of it. Conor looked over at his mother, wondering if his grief was making him see things.
Before Elias even realized what was happening behind him the family had a second visitor.
Penny and Jacob didn't stick around long. They floated off to their old bedroom. Apparently Penny had really missed sitting in her rocking chair.

Elias saw then as they were floating away and quickly followed. He wiped away his tears at seeing the ghosts of his parents. "Mom, Dad, is that really you?"
"Yes, son," Penny said in an oddly hollow voice. We came back to see you and let you know not to grieve too much because we are together and peacefully at rest."
"I miss you so much, though."
Penny could not ignore her son's tears and so she folded him into her arms as he cried on her not-quite-solid shoulder. Although he didn't really understand how he could feel his mother's arms around him Elias did not resist his mother's comfort.
When his tears slowed, Penny gave him a final pat on the shoulder.
"You should see your father. He has wanted to talk to you. He went in to look on your daughter in her crib."
Elias went across the hall to his room and found his father. "Dad, I've missed you so much! It's not the same without you around here."
Again he felt the comforting arms of his father around him and he cried on his shoulder as well. When he choked back the tears he saw his father smiling.
"I know you have missed me, but I have been watching over you. I am very proud of you, son. You are a wonderful father and husband. You doing a great job helping out your brothers as well. And I am proud to have you as my successor with the horses. Oh, and you should have the vet check Jasmine because she visited the other stallion owned by Ivy's parents and I think you might have another foal on the way. Your mother and I can't stay for very long, but know that we are always watching over you. We might be able to visit on occasion but we are at peace where we are so do not worry about us."
Elias was overwhelmed by his father's praise and it helped to heal the emptiness that the loss of his parents had left. Jacob hugged him one last time before he and Penny had to move on.
After all the hardship and grief with losing his parents Elias felt that the family could use some fun. So Elias took them all to the fair in town.
Conor and Brendan participated in an eating contest.
Conor was the clear winner.
Conor was pleased with his win. Brendan couldn't even finish all his hot dogs and then went off and threw up in some bushes.
Elias convinced everyone to get a picture taken together. They agreed but couldn't help wishing that Penny could have been there to be part of the picture.

Over the next few days, while the boys were in school, Elias and Ivy worked on skills with their children. Elias was helping Erik learn to talk.

While Elias was out spending time with the horses he got the call from his brother Isaac that his second baby had just been born. His girlfriend, Danica, had just given birth to a baby girl named Aja.
After he hung up he heard the distinctive sound of Jasmine in labor. The vet had confirmed what Jacob had said to him and Jasmine had been pregnant. Elias was looking forward to what the foal would look like. Soon she had given birth to a little filly.
Elias was disappointed that she didn't have more of her father. He wasn't sure what to name her. She looked almost like a copy of her mother, only without the spots. She was born with the traits obedient and genius.
Meanwhile inside Jacob had returned to check in on his family. Perhaps the birth of a new foal had drawn him.
After checking on the new foal sleeping with her mother he went to his old bedroom, which stood empty now, and sat in the rocking chair.
Roland had just been using the bathroom and went into his parent's bedroom because he thought he heard the sound of the old rocking chair. He was shocked to see the ghost of his father standing there.

But when the ghost responded he knew it must be real. "Hello, Roland. It is me. I am allowed to come back and visit sometimes. I am glad to see you."
"Dad! Its good to see you. I've missed you a lot. Is Mom with you?"
"Yes, your mother is with me. We are at peace, and always watching over you. Tell me how things have been going with you."

So Roland spent a while talking to his father. He told him about how much enjoyed school and that science was his favorite subject. He even confided that he had been thinking about going to the university when he finished college to pursue a career in science. Jacob was happy to hear about his son's hopes and dreams. When the boy could hardly keep his eyes open anymore he sent him off to bed finally and disappeared.
The next day in the sunlight Elias could see better that the little filly had gotten some spots. But they were hidden on the inside of her hind leg. He thought that was pretty funny.
She also had some small showing of her father's coloring in her tail and muzzle, very much the way Fairy had.

"Ivy, your parents' stallions are a wash out for passing on their coloration," he told her as they were watching the new foal with her mother.
Ivy shrugged as she juggled Erik on one hip while trying to watch Annabeth toddle around so that she didn't too close to the little pond. "Maybe Jasmine's traits were just too dominant. I wonder if they wouldn't do better with a different mare.
"Daisy!" Annabeth shouted as she pointed at the foal and laughed as the little foal looked at her with curious eyes.
Elias laughed as he picked up his daughter. "Sounds like as good a name as any," he said as Annabeth pointed at the foal again. "Daisy it is."
The new filly's a cutie! Funny how the markings move sometimes; I've had some where the markings moved right off the horse entirely. I need to try breeding some of those to see if they reappear of subsequent generations.

There was some trouble with trolls posting obscene pics/links earlier today and it was combated (in part) by making a New Member and (full) Member status. Ah okay that explains it!! I do plan to continue this challenge. It's just I lost my Internet and I have been job hunting. So whenever I go somewhere that has wi-fi I usually use it for job search not for Sims. Although that would be more fun!! I saved the update I wrote and I hope to post it tomorrow.
Yeah, real life gets in the way of Simming. I do still play but not my challenges because I am so far behind on updates I'm forgetting what was happening. So some pics I'm not using because I have no idea what is happening and they don't help the story. Now on to the update!!
Life moved on for the Taylor family and before they knew it Conor had reached adulthood. He didn't want a fuss so he had his own celebration alone.
He thought he looked pretty good.
Elias knew it was time for Stardust to go. He was fully trained and there was a buyer already lined up. The man had contacted him to say he wanted the son of Teddybear and Jasmine since both horses had such stellar reputations. Elias gave Stardust a hug after he mounted up.
"You're going to a very good home. But we'll miss you."
They took their last ride through the night to meet the buyer at the Equestrian Center.
The next day it was time for Conor to graduate from high school. He was looking forward to it.
The whole family headed down to the City Hall for the ceremony.
While they were out Daisy aged up to a lovely young mare.

A little while after the graduation Ivy got a call from her parents that resulted in the shock of her life. Looking a little dazed she went to see Elias. "You'll never believe it."
"What is it?"
"My parents are having another baby."
"Oh really? Was that your mother calling?'
"You don't look at all surprised, and here I am stunned to pieces. I mean they have three grandchildren."
Elias laughed. "I have nieces and nephews older than me. It isn't strange to me. My parents were still having kids long after my older brothers and sisters had gotten married and moved out."
Ivy smiled and shook her head at her own shock. "You're right. I just didn't think my parents were going to have any more kids. But then I don't think they planned this. It will be funny to have a new brother and sister though."

Now that Conor and his girlfriend Venessa were adults they got a lot closer.
Conor already knew that he wanted to marry Venessa. He just hadn't been able to buy the ring yet. He didn't want his brother to know that they had gotten intimate. He wasn't sure what Elias would have to say. So she left afterwards to sneak into her parents' house. Conor was feeling elated and decided to treat himself to a snow cone. He didn't expect there to be a visitor in the middle of the night.
"So, you and Venessa are getting very serious," Jacob said.
Conor turned to see his father's ghost. "Dad! I guess I didn't believe Elias and Roland until now." When Jacob just looked at him seriously he knew his father was waiting for a response. "Um, yeah Venessa and I are serious. I want to marry her."
"I'm glad to hear that," Jacob said with a smile. "She seems like a very nice young woman. I would hope you won't set a bad example for your younger brothers. I know your brother Isaac hasn't been the best example. He and his girlfriend are expecting their third baby and they are not married yet."
"Yeah, I heard about that. I'm not intending to do that. I am going to ask her to marry me as soon as I can."
"I'm happy to hear that. I'm very proud of you, son. Your mother and I both are."
Conor hugged Jacob thinking it was strange that he could still hug him, but he was very glad it was possible. "Thanks, Dad. I'm glad I got to see you again."

"Venessa, I have loved you for forever, and I would like to spend forever showing you how much you mean to me. Would you be my wife?"

Then when Conor straightened up she threw her arms around him.

Conor had an idea. While his brother was busy teaching Annabeth to walk and Ivy was trying out a fairy repair on the computer Conor and Venessa slipped out of the house.
"I know Elias and Ivy would do their best to throw a big wedding for us. But the truth is they are busy with their new family, as they should be, and I don't want to take them away from that. Do you want a big wedding?"
Venessa thought about it for a moment and then shook her head. "No, I don't need all that. I just want us to get married and start on our lives together. Are you suggesting we elope?"
Conor grinned. "I know just the place."
They snuck off to the corner of the Arboretum where weddings were often held. Conor knew that the wedding arch was still set up from a wedding the day before. There in the growing twilight they exchanged their own vows and the rings they bought after leaving the house.
It may not have been formal or fancy. But they didn't mind. They were together forever now, and that was all that mattered.
While Conor and Venessa were off having their own private wedding Roland had a quiet birthday celebration at home.
He thought he looked good. (Even if he inherited Jacob's tendency to age up to baldness. That will be fixed.)
Venessa and Conor returned after their private wedding to have dinner with the family. But Conor hadn't figured out how to tell his brother yet. Jacob knew about all the events of the day and decided to drop in and visit.

The two brothers hugged. "I wish you every happiness, Conor. Venessa is a great woman and I'm sure you'll have a wonderful life together."

Life moved on for the Taylor family and before they knew it Conor had reached adulthood. He didn't want a fuss so he had his own celebration alone.
He thought he looked pretty good.
Elias knew it was time for Stardust to go. He was fully trained and there was a buyer already lined up. The man had contacted him to say he wanted the son of Teddybear and Jasmine since both horses had such stellar reputations. Elias gave Stardust a hug after he mounted up.
"You're going to a very good home. But we'll miss you."
They took their last ride through the night to meet the buyer at the Equestrian Center.
The next day it was time for Conor to graduate from high school. He was looking forward to it.
The whole family headed down to the City Hall for the ceremony.
While they were out Daisy aged up to a lovely young mare.

Elias gave Conor a framed copy of the picture they had all gotten taken when they went to the fair.
Erik loves playing with his IF doll (whose name I forget). They are so cute together!
A little while after the graduation Ivy got a call from her parents that resulted in the shock of her life. Looking a little dazed she went to see Elias. "You'll never believe it."
"What is it?"
"My parents are having another baby."
"Oh really? Was that your mother calling?'
"You don't look at all surprised, and here I am stunned to pieces. I mean they have three grandchildren."
Elias laughed. "I have nieces and nephews older than me. It isn't strange to me. My parents were still having kids long after my older brothers and sisters had gotten married and moved out."
Ivy smiled and shook her head at her own shock. "You're right. I just didn't think my parents were going to have any more kids. But then I don't think they planned this. It will be funny to have a new brother and sister though."

Now that Conor and his girlfriend Venessa were adults they got a lot closer.
Conor already knew that he wanted to marry Venessa. He just hadn't been able to buy the ring yet. He didn't want his brother to know that they had gotten intimate. He wasn't sure what Elias would have to say. So she left afterwards to sneak into her parents' house. Conor was feeling elated and decided to treat himself to a snow cone. He didn't expect there to be a visitor in the middle of the night.
"So, you and Venessa are getting very serious," Jacob said.
Conor turned to see his father's ghost. "Dad! I guess I didn't believe Elias and Roland until now." When Jacob just looked at him seriously he knew his father was waiting for a response. "Um, yeah Venessa and I are serious. I want to marry her."
"I'm glad to hear that," Jacob said with a smile. "She seems like a very nice young woman. I would hope you won't set a bad example for your younger brothers. I know your brother Isaac hasn't been the best example. He and his girlfriend are expecting their third baby and they are not married yet."
"Yeah, I heard about that. I'm not intending to do that. I am going to ask her to marry me as soon as I can."
"I'm happy to hear that. I'm very proud of you, son. Your mother and I both are."
Conor hugged Jacob thinking it was strange that he could still hug him, but he was very glad it was possible. "Thanks, Dad. I'm glad I got to see you again."

"Venessa, I have loved you for forever, and I would like to spend forever showing you how much you mean to me. Would you be my wife?"
Venessa was so excited she wasted no time saying yes and letting him put the ring on her finger.
Then when Conor straightened up she threw her arms around him.
"I love you so much! Can we get married as soon as possible?"

Conor had an idea. While his brother was busy teaching Annabeth to walk and Ivy was trying out a fairy repair on the computer Conor and Venessa slipped out of the house.
"I know Elias and Ivy would do their best to throw a big wedding for us. But the truth is they are busy with their new family, as they should be, and I don't want to take them away from that. Do you want a big wedding?"
Venessa thought about it for a moment and then shook her head. "No, I don't need all that. I just want us to get married and start on our lives together. Are you suggesting we elope?"
Conor grinned. "I know just the place."
They snuck off to the corner of the Arboretum where weddings were often held. Conor knew that the wedding arch was still set up from a wedding the day before. There in the growing twilight they exchanged their own vows and the rings they bought after leaving the house.
It may not have been formal or fancy. But they didn't mind. They were together forever now, and that was all that mattered.
While Conor and Venessa were off having their own private wedding Roland had a quiet birthday celebration at home.
He thought he looked good. (Even if he inherited Jacob's tendency to age up to baldness. That will be fixed.)
Venessa and Conor returned after their private wedding to have dinner with the family. But Conor hadn't figured out how to tell his brother yet. Jacob knew about all the events of the day and decided to drop in and visit.

Conor was happy to see his father and wanted to talk to him about how Venessa was his wife. But with Elias and Ivy right there he didn't know how to do it.
Jacob greeted them and with a smile and a wink at Conor he said "I believe you have some big news for everyone, don't you?"
Elias went over to his brother. "You do? What is it?"
Conor was nervous. "Um, well you see ... Uh, Venessa and I wanted to get married."
"I knew you'd want to throw a wedding. But we didn't need all that so we sort of eloped."
Elias was stunned for a moment.
"I'm very happy for you both," Elias said. "I wish we could have been there, though. And truly a wedding would have been no trouble."
"I know you'd have done the right thing. But you have a great wife and two adorable kids. Your priority should be taking care of them, not your brothers. Besides, I'm ready to move on and start my own family."
The two brothers hugged. "I wish you every happiness, Conor. Venessa is a great woman and I'm sure you'll have a wonderful life together."
While Conor was talking to Elias Venessa couldn't help admiring her wedding and engagement ring.
Ivy was very happy for them as well when they explained it to her. Elias suggested that they go spend some time alone. They didn't argue for a moment.
