With the changes to the forums in Sims4, pictures from my original thread are not showing. You can still view them by going to the sims3 forum and my thread here:

I fear there are so many that changing them for sims4's forum might just do me in!
Thank you!

Hello,
I have become brave enough to actually upload some homes on the exchange, and then, to my surprise, I became more computer savy and am able to post better pictures! Fancy that!
Here are three examples of homes. If you like them, feel free to browse other homes at My Studio.
All my best,
Taryn

No CC- no mods, but lots of "Moveobjects on" work. I have playtested and they do work. There is one store object included, the Porterman Door. It is a favorite of mine. You could easily replace it with the arch top glass doors from the original Sims 3 and still have it compliment the decor. Just recolor using the windows as a color guide.
Living room:
<a href="http://s400.photobucket.com/albums/pp84/taryntempestwind/?action=view¤t=Screenshot-121.png" target="_blank"><img src="http://i400.photobucket.com/albums/pp84/taryntempestwind/Screenshot-121.png" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>
Built in dressers and bookcases in the "teen" bedroom (left) built in windows seat in the "nursery":

Masterbedroom with window seat: (I like the toy duck left behind with the books. Looks homey) This window seat is actually 2 ottoman tables slid together, so cannot be sat upon, but it has a really pretty effect.

I do some professional landscape design and have done interior design work as well. I hope that shows my homes!
Aspen creek was a fun house becasue as soon as I put that teal on the first shutter, it changed from being the quiet, restful color scheme of khaki linnen, ivories and dove greys(Like of one my favorite furniture catalog company) to a very much more vibrant color scheme. Oh. well. I also had a lot of fun manipulating pieces of furniture with "moveobjects on".
I am working on a grand, elegant Colonial mansion now. But it may take me up to a week. I am very happy with its progress though! The exterior shape came out just perfect!
Thanks again for the kind words and messages!
Taryn
Hi!
Today’s upload is a very grand old Colonial mansion, “Magnolia Place”. (no CC, as always) I tried not to use any store content, but 2 snuck in. They are not at all fundemental to the house and could easily be replaced. The chair is on the master bedroom balcony, the cabinet is in the butler's pantry.
Here’s a picture of the front. All clad in brick and stone, and marble pillars. I raised the ground elevation to really give it some imposing height and drama from the street. There is an attached garage with outside parking for a 2nd automobile.
<a href="http://s400.photobucket.com/albums/pp84/taryntempestwind/?action=view¤t=Screenshot-191.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i400.photobucket.com/albums/pp84/taryntempestwind/Screenshot-191.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>
Here is the side/back of the home. Swimming pool and several decks and balconies…landscaping…
<a href="http://s400.photobucket.com/albums/pp84/taryntempestwind/?action=view¤t=Screenshot-157.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i400.photobucket.com/albums/pp84/taryntempestwind/Screenshot-157.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>
Magnolia place has a very large kitchen, also a small butler’s pantry and laundry room to the right that leads in from the garage.
<a href="http://s400.photobucket.com/albums/pp84/taryntempestwind/?action=view¤t=Screenshot-166.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i400.photobucket.com/albums/pp84/taryntempestwind/Screenshot-166.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>
The family room is open from the kitchen. But the home also has a formal living and dining room at the front of the house.
<a href="http://s400.photobucket.com/albums/pp84/taryntempestwind/?action=view¤t=Screenshot-165.png" target="_blank"><img src="http://i400.photobucket.com/albums/pp84/taryntempestwind/Screenshot-165.png" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>
The bedrooms are all nice and big and each have their own private bath. Putting the door next to the stairs was causing me some “issues” but I came up with this little balcony opening to the little girl’s room, and it is really darling in the game. With the curtains as is, she cannot go out into the balcony. Take them down if you’d like access. I think it looks pretty like this and I imagine it offers some privacy. I can just imagine a little girl playing there, putting on shows, singing…too cute. I placed the toybox right outside so that you could see a little girl playing there.
I call this “the Juliet bedroom”
<a href="http://s400.photobucket.com/albums/pp84/taryntempestwind/?action=view¤t=Screenshot-173.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i400.photobucket.com/albums/pp84/taryntempestwind/Screenshot-173.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>
Also in the house is a little boy’s bedroom, a nursery designed for expected twins (!!!) and a peaceful master suite. (with twins on the way, they’re going to need it!) There is a big open attic on the third floor . I have it decorated as a “hobby room and library”. There is a neat balcony up there with fantastic views.
Here is the link.

There are more pictures there of the interior---see images. (I figure I have probably spammed you with enough pictures already.)
Thanks for viewing! Thanks for any downloads or recommendations. They really do make my day!

That is a very special trait to have in one's life.
Thank you!

Magnolia Place captured my heart over the weekend when I saw it on the exchange! Then here I go browsing the forums and run across this thread and I find more eye-popping builds from you! They are beautiful!
Magnolia place is my sims new dream home! : ) --- well, when they can afford to buy it that is!
I have thought about it, and I think our SimsPeople can think of "motherlode" as a sort of "mortage". I mean..who can afford to buy their home with cash? (Who, I ask you, who?)
And the sims do pay bills every few days...See? A mortage of sorts.
Go ahead. You have my blessing to purchase your dream home. I shall be very unhappy if you don't! And nobody wants to see that!
....Nobody....
*hugs*
Taryn
Awww, thank you! That is such a sweet thing to say. *Hugs*
(In recoloring the curtain, I used the shiny metal in the "metalics" section and recolored it gold. It gave the fabric a really neat "silk" effect! The colors for that bedroom were peachy-pink, gold, ivory and a pastel apple green)
Thank you very much Nik! Very nice of you!
And of course, *hugs* for Yanti!

Crawford’s Range is a tri-level ranch, with the main level being the second level, a loft above and a daylight, walk-out basement below. It is built into a slope, and then rock garden terraced all around.
<a href="http://s400.photobucket.com/albums/pp84/taryntempestwind/?action=view¤t=Screenshot-254.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i400.photobucket.com/albums/pp84/taryntempestwind/Screenshot-254.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>
It was made specifically for my friend Franklear180’s Sim “Crawford”. (As of writing this, he hasn’t seen it. Gee, I hope he likes it!) Because it was made with a male influence in mind, I decorated it with lots of natural woods and metals. It’s a very clean and simple, contemporary ranch…no frilly girlie "junk" in this house! Leather, manly furniture, and a definitive “man-cave” in the basement! Crawford needed fireplaces, natural woods, warmth, and entertaining space for friends. Dark, rich, warm paint colors are what I chose for this home. (note: the colors are much more well lit and vibrant in game, rather dark here, I see…)

Now being a cowboy, he also needed a barn and a horse area. (first try..Horse..NOT HAPPY. Beeeeep..thank you for playing, Taryn, try again….second try…bigger lot, bigger barn, more room! Horse is very happy..I about cried with relief) And a garage for his truck.
<a href="http://s400.photobucket.com/albums/pp84/taryntempestwind/?action=view¤t=Screenshot-263.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i400.photobucket.com/albums/pp84/taryntempestwind/Screenshot-263.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

A good ranch house should have a bunkhouse, so I converted a Screen porch area for the fun of it.
<a href="http://s400.photobucket.com/albums/pp84/taryntempestwind/?action=view¤t=Screenshot-1.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i400.photobucket.com/albums/pp84/taryntempestwind/Screenshot-1.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>
This home is landscaped is a very naturalized way, I went for a wildflower look. The plants are tucked into the rocks and ramble as they will.

Lots and lots more to see in the actual house. Like the basement man-cave…and the interior of the barn..and the loft…those were too hard to get a decent screen shot of, so I’ll leave them as a teaser to anyone who downloads.

More images attached to the Exchange link as well.
There are a few pieces of store content. I think the only really important one is the pillar. I used it several times, and I really do like it for the home. It's a nice one, because it can be recolored, and has a good shape for combining with other things. if you don't have it, you might just like it.
And as always, no CC, no mods. Just good clean fun.
Feel free to browse my other homes on My Page. I am enjoying the company!
Taryn
...and apparently "frilly girlie g o o k" was censored, so it appeared I was cussing.."Frilly girlie ****" and so was changed to "junk".
Too funny.
T.
It's a perfectly innocent word!
T.
Where do you get all of your inspiration, and how do you manage to landscape and decorate?
I seem to have such a difficult time with all of that. I'm not creative whatsoever.
You my dear are one talented person.
-koreeya
I have sent you each a friendl- friend request!
As for your question liasmarie, I do professional landscaping design as a side job in the summer when I have time. I only take a couple of homes a year. I have done interior work too.
A good starting inspiration point is buying a home plan book. You will not be able to exactly recreate the home, but you can get a good start. Start by using the front as inspiration, and the house will grow from there. Roofing is your best friend. There's a great roofing tutorial in the tutorial section. Play with the roofs and see what they do. I have gotten so much better at roofing and it makes my houses look better! The tutorial section has fantastic ideas...too many too name. So maybe spend sometime there, if you are interested in building.
If you haven't tried this, I say try the cheatcode "moveobjects on", hold the alt button and slide the objects into each other, and recolor, recolor, recolor. There are many sims objects that I don't find at all appealing until I recolor them, then I think they are kind of cool! So just look at an object, at its basic shape, and think outside the box. How can I first of all change it with color or pattern, then how can I move it and combine it with something else? Then recolor that something else to match it, and blend it together. If you've downloaded the ranch, look at the little stove in the master bedroom. -the walls, the stove, the angle of the floor, some pillars and lights, and it looks really cute! The more you do it, the more confident you'll feel about it.
Moveobjects on and holding the alt button will do wonders for your gardens too. Slide the plants around a bit, slide them into each other, ..Garden DO ramble together, plants grow between fences and rocks. Oh! Speaking of rocks! Here's a landscaper's tip. In nature, rocks do not just plunk themselves on top the ground, like they fell from the sky! They are set in the soil. So raise your terrain a bit, sink the rock into the soil by using "Moveobjects on" and slide, holding the alt button. Stack them the same way, keeping it very natural looking. Then add plants growing around the rock by doing the same. Smooth the edges with the terrain tool. Just make sure that you haven't placed them in a way that blocks something fundamental, like a doorway.
You can come to my page and chat with me about this anytime!
Again, my thanks to you both! See you soon, I hope!
Taryn
Until I started playing them, not building them and …Lag…lag…lag….esp. at night with the lights on too. So side by side, isn’t an option I think (It isn’t my computer, I have a tricked out Alienware that’s very fast with double graphic cards)
But here are a couple of pictures of it, and of the garden work I described above. If there’s interest, I will tweek it, test it and offer it for download. The landscaping looks even better in the game. It is a very pretty park. I am just so sad it wouldn’t run side by side my Crawford Range home. It has a horse jumping area, an arched bridge, a gazebo, playground equipment, restroom, BBQ area, a dock, and even pet food bowls and toys so your pets won’t get cranky.

Again, if there's interest, I'll upload it so anyone that wants can have the set.
Again I really appreciate it.
I love the park by the way!! I would definitely download it to go along with the ranch in which I have downloaded already. I'll have to go buy myself a house plan book now!
Thanks again!!!
