Those specs above are far beyond the Sims 3 requried specs are over-kill for the sims. To put those specs in perspective there is no game out at the moment which would push those specs. Yes, I am 100% sure the Sims 3+ All SPs + EPs here and down the road will run on the highest settings with the computer. Enjoy your new Computer

Thanks, I'm a geiunepig for a computer builder and the sims is the only thing I play non-web based.

Only thing better would be if that were a 560 instead of a 460, but yes that is not just a computer, that's a gaming rig.
Life is what you make it so, make it good.

That rig is almost close to what i had spec wise a little

    i7 980X @ 4.2 GHZ Evo Galaxy 1250 watts|Asus Rampage III extreme|Corsair Dominator GT 6GB 2000 Mhz|GTX 480|OCZ VERTEX 2 320GB SSD/Wd 500 Gb storage|Xfi Platinum sound card|Gpu/Cpu/Mobo water cooled|Obsidian 800D|

you will have no issues at all with that game running every sims 3 sp/ep at all

tho as some one said get a evga 560 runs cooler and uses less power

i also switched out my 980x for a i7 940 and seen no difference in performance,i only had it for video rendering/photoshop so if you want to save money get a i7 940/970 and put it towards a better graphics card or better monitor

for that rig i hope you have a 24 inch 1920 by 1200 monitor or 27 to really take advantage of your graphics card

why not replace the 980x?if you are not doing high rendering/high end photoshop it is useless and no pc game or regular pc task would ever tap into the i7 980x power, a i7 940 will cut cost by 700 bucks

and you can use that money towards a ocz vertex 3 ssd which would benefit you much more than 2 hard drives in raid and be 10x the performance.

and you will have extra to get a even better graphics card

trust me u will thank me if u get a vertex 3 ssd your system would boot in seconds,as for the gpu it will run cooler/less power

I'm not too good in technology either. I plan to buy a new PC too on ebay. Can anyone who is a computer literate please tell me if I built it right and chose the right parts (and if they match)

Well the good thing is I'm getting it for free, and he did drop it to the i5-760, the EVGA GT 440 and a 500GB hard drive w/ 2TB external

    Thank you for the reply!

Do you know what is the real price of the system like that?

And if comparing with the OP PC that she is getting soon - which is better: her PC or my configuration? or are these PC the same?

sorry for too many questions. I don't have any friends or relatives that are PC literate

you have a better gpu card than the op,the new intel processors are on par if not better than the i7 980x which cost 1000 dollars compared to 400 or less bucks for your process, that technology for you

if u want to see how much it would really cost,go to newegg find all the parts and add them to the cart and see how much it comes out to.but u can def save a lot of money on your pc for sure

Hi Lily I would have to agree with Rud3 that the PC is over priced but nice, my original specs I posted can run between $1200-$1500 with out the moinitor.

A good thing to do is if there are computer shows in your area try going to one and you can find nice deals and the vendors build on-site. I got on for my kids for a lilttle over $300 which was just something basic.

Thank you for your help guys! I will look and see if I can find similar PC for lower price. Too bad I can't build one myself

I think it's overpriced too, but since the price includes shipping, labor, monitor, keyboard+mouse, speakers and some other stuff + guarantee - it's not that bad; I will think about it. If I won't find similar PC for a lower price, I will probably get that one. I have a nice PC right now and it's just 1 year old but it's all in 1 and I can't upgrade it - It's HP Touchsmart 300. I bought it for $1200. It's a nice system overall but the graphics are not good - ATI 3200; and what annoys me the most - I can't upgrade it :?
