Okay this one worked for me, thankfully. The other one I tried said it was for the wrong game region. I guess I'll start up the game and see if it works. Thanks for your help!!!
HOW ABOUT TRYING MORE THAN 5 TIMES TO BUY THE GAME BEING TOLD YOU WILL GET AN EMAIL AND GET NO EMAIL THEN LOOK UP YOUR ORDER HISTORY TO FIND THAT THEY R GOING TO CHARGE U 3 TIMES FOR THE GAME AND ON TOP OF IT IT WONT LET YOU DOWNLOAD THE GAME! AND THEN BEING ON HOLD FOR MORE THAN 21 MINS FOR HELP. THEY ARE GETTING WORST!
i can't get the update to work&this is so frustrating for me.
i was going to uninstall&reinstall.
well i unistalled and i have all my games DD.
just for the the sims 3 is was estimating 18 hrs.
ughhh,
so i did i system restore.
&which i didn't backup my computer after downloading generations.
so i had to do that AGAIN.
it's finally downloaded and i'm doing a backup before i try to update again.
blahhh.
Ok the download isn't even working for me... it keeps saying "the installed version of this appication could not be determined. The set up will now terminate." Does anyone have any idea about what to do? Is the patch mandatory or in time will I be able to get the game without downloading it? Because I've tried atleast 10 times.
Okay, so at first...the game wouldnt install and was telling me that i needed to update.
so i DL the patch that everyone has been spamming, and then i was able to install generations. was able to open it, load it, choose my family, but then at random loading times, it says that it has encountered a problem and needs to shut down....has anyone else had this problem?
ive heard that i need to get rid of my mods/CC, but i feel like that would only cause more problems because i have so many, there would be so many blank spots in my game....

I have been an avid simmer since the beginning...I am starting to lose my faith in EA. I am getting very upset. Why purcahse a game when I can't play it if I have to wait on a stupid patch??? I should of gone to Walmart and bought the game at midnight! This was my first time using DD for an EP, and this will be my last!

CLICK THIS THEN CLICK THE LINK THEY OFFERED. IT WORKS SAVE IT TO YOUR DESKTOP ITS FASTER THAN RUNNING IT STRAIGHT THEN INSTALL IT. THEN I WENT TO MY EA MANAGER AND CLICKED INSTALL IT TOOK A FEW MINS THEN THE OPTION PLAY CAME UP AND I CLICKED PLAY AND TRIED IT IN SEVERAL HOUSE HOLDS AND IT W O R K S !
This took about an hour of research as I was just as frustrated as all of you. I need more than a stupid link to fix my problem. I needed someone to walk me through it.
I put mine in the folder I keep all my Sim games in.
Once it has downloaded go to what should now be a 659,863 KB patch.
Double click this patch and it will install itself. Then go to your EA Download Manager and click Install and this should solve the problem without having to uninstall everything.
It worked for me so if that doesn't work for you... I am really sorry and hope you reach a solution soon. Sims should have a game update in the next couple of days linked to your launcher so as someone who understands your frustration just know there is always a solution to every problem but it may take time and patience.

It seems the game was installed because the icon for gen is on my desktop. I click play and it tells me please insert sims late night.
I downloaded the patch that everyone insists works. Then I uninstalled and reinstalled the game. Still the same message "please insert late night" Also, Late night wont work even if I have uninstalled generations. So now I cant play the sims at all.
Edited to add that I bought the game at walmart. I actually have the disk
I am glad to hear others are having the same issue. However, I don't understand how you release a game as popular as The Sims and not ensure that it will work for their customers. I sure hope I will not be charged until I have "successfully installed" the expansion pack. Pretty dissapointed as I was looking forward to playing...

I'm having the same problem. Sims 3 Generations just came out today maybe for the digital copy to work we have to wait the next day. Maybe who knows. I will wait tomorrow and try to install it again. If it works good if not i will get help from customer service.
Yea, it seems everyone has figured out the problem, but our problem is unaddressed. I'm pretty angry at this point. CAN SOMEONE TELL MY WHY ITS SAYING INSERT LATE NIGHT!!!!!!!!!!!

Are they giving ANY eta's on when this will be fixed? I have tried everything that I can find on the boards. Now, my head hurts!
I own every single sims game from the start -- I can't be the only old woman that just wants be able to d/l and install!
I think EA owes us something for this....and something GOOD.
